Visited for a friends wedding, exceptional day. However as we were leaving a member of staff tried to call us a taxi to our hotel and was struggling, which is fair enough, it's a small town after midnight. What is exceptionally poor, however is that the member of staff lied about having booked us a taxi, told us it would be fifteen minutes and then disappeared. 7 guests of the hotel left stranded for over an hour with not a member of staff in sight a poor ending to an otherwise brilliant day.

Went to this hotel for a night away for our wedding anniversary on the march 2018 . Friendly staff and it had lovely food. suite we had was spacious but it could do with updating as it had quite a few marks on walls ect, the mattress was realy hard and really uncomfortable. Also the pipes in the room were making loud banging noise threw the night til early morning. Main Lounge area was dirty food alover chairs n the floor, from arriving til late that night, could of been cleaned when it got done as staff wernt buisy. Wouldnt go back again as wasnt for us.

We did enjoy our mini break but it was a slight disappointment and the small things add up ,we had booked a sunday/ monday stay a few months ago and only by a call to check on our times etc told no hot food on the monday ,why didnt Dale or team members Email or ring to advise us so we could make alternative arrangements? We went on sat / sun ,but a bit of a panic to alter our plans ! The food very nice and service from the staff no problem ,but our upgraded rooms spacious and the views magnificent but very much in need of a update ,lamp not working ,windows couldn't open ,bathroom mirror no light to shave or apply makeup but worst by far the very uncomfortable bed I like a firm mattress but hard and only a double ! But a regular user of classic lodges and the offers are very good and we will still be trying another location to add to the list

Food excellent but room a disaster. Dirty, horrendously hot due to a seemingly uncontrollable bathroom heated towel rail, poor reception on TV and other issues. Management couldn't seem to get it right although did make some recompense. But it couldn't make up for a disappointing birthday weekend stay.

Solberge hall has, and continues to be - my favourite venue. The staff are professional, courteous and nothing is too much for them to handle. The food is fantastic, Damon and his team continue to push new flavours and provide mouthwatering meals without fail. I simply canmot recommend Solberge Hall enough.

Very nice stay here with my dog...needs a bit of improvement in some areas, had a door onto a corridor which didn't lock and my bedroom door didn't close properly...as the room suited me from the point of view of my dog so not really a complaint. Food and wiilingness to adapt dishes was excellent

As a business traveler it was a bizarre mix of very friendly staff but completely disjointed feel with a lack of professional finishing touches. The room was sweltering hot and when I asked for a fan I was delivered a small heater and told to put it on blow without heat. Breakfast was served by a lovely lady, however it took for ever to arrive and the bacon was tougher than boot leather. The shower was either scolding hot or freezing cold, no in-between... Honestly, so many strange things I would-be supprised if Basil Faulty had appeared! Lovely venue and staff, but someone needs to get a grip on the running of the place.

I stayed here with my hubby last night and we were a but disappointed. My daughter bought us a voucher as a gift and had a bit of a nightmare booking, telling me as it was a voucher no Fridays or Saturdays were available.

I tweeted to the hotel about them, and give them their dues, they were apologetic and booked us in (I had seen there was availability on the website).

The room was quite nice but a bit worn and unloved, but clean. We went for dinner- I asked the waitress if we could have some bread - she replied "Yes I'm getting it. I can't do everything". Our meals arrived - soup was delicious and ham hock starter ok. On to mains and my ribeye steak was burned to a cinder. I had asked for medium. I couldn't cut it. The waiter apologised but said there was no steak left so I had chicken - which was ok.

We were offered complimentary drinks - which we were duly charged for on our check out bill. They were taken off when I pointed it out. Breakfast was delicious. All in all an ok stay, but lots of room for improvement.

Attended a wedding here was a lovely venue. Very pretty place to get married. Some staff went out of there way to help you and others seemed like they didn't want to be there. Fridge's were broken so took ages to get a drink but that didn't stop us all having a great time.

Lovely hotel, old and well kept. Great room (deluxe) which took our family of 4 easily. Really quiet surroundings and even in the room itself (our children excluded!) Got it as a Groupon deal which included cooked breakfast which was OK but had better. Staff were great, friendly and professional and assisted us when we needed a travel cot at 11pm!

A place to come and relax - it's a very laid back hotel with excellent food. The room we stayed in, Room 2, was beautiful and something like out of an expensive BBC period drama.
The location is fairly isolated and quiet with a short drive to Northallerton worth an afternoon to look around.

I arrived with a group of my close friends for a wedding reception to find that you needed a bank loan just to buy a drink. When I eventually got served after waiting about 10 mins at the bar I was given a warm, cloudy pint of Peroni that was horrible. When I took it back an older gentleman served me and fought that there wasnt anything wrong with it with an attitude that I can only describe as dispicable, not only that but when my friend ordered a bottle of Kopperberg with NO ice, he proceeded to pour her he put ice in and served her boyfriend it, to which he said, 'Sorry, I asked for no ice' to which your bartender replied with 'So, it'll keep it cold'
Overall what looks like a lovely venue from the exterior is infact an overpriced hell hole with bar staff with the manners of doorframe. I can safely say that I will gladly NEVER attend and functions in this venue ever again.

Lovely grounds. Incredibly friendly helpful staff. Great breakfast with lots of choice. Sort of decor you'd expect from a country hall, bit on the plain side, not exactly opulent . Didn't eat in at night as there are lots of cozy country pubs with real fires nearby, but dining room & menu looked worth a try. WiFi good in most areas & rooms, though not all. Some rooms are a bit noisy from the proximity to the boiler or the extractor fan.. a low constant noise like being on a ship that possibly wouldn't bother some people. Comfy beds & good size bathrooms.

Beautiful building in a stunning rural location. Staff were friendly and respectful. The generous afternoon tea was delicious, with good choices, and various dietary considerations catered for I would certainly recommend it. But make sure you don't eat lunch first; for you'll certainly struggle if you do
