My personal opinion: this kitchen puts out the best tasting and most creative dishes in all of Santa Cruz. Fresh California style cuisine.

If you are looking for cheap Pizza or Tacos, go somewhere else. This ain't for the pedestrian palette.

Stopped in to check out the wine selection and did some tasting. Great variety of wines, unique finds. The guy was super friendly, chatty and knowledgeable. I d say check it out!

Great relief from the COVID Crazy s. Staff was wonderful and the food was good. Duck was a little undercooked for my liking and they graciously hooked me up with the delicious pasta. Thanks!

Used to love going here, but the portions got smaller, the prices went up, and the food is now under seasoned.

One of my top spots for Californian food. I love visiting here. Service is typically great. It has a good feel to it. Mood here reminds me of Colorado Springs area.

Waitress was very nice and appetizers we got were great. Got a few standard drinks nothing too special, but the atmosphere was very calm and mellow too.

Steak was delicious, cut like butter. Artichoke appetizer was soooooo good.

A little on the expensive side but the food is great.

Loved it. Definitely coming back. Mussel soup, crab salad, and ravioli were delicious.

Great food, but somewhat expensive! Of course you will come here to get a meal PLUS some wine. The burger was very satisfying and cheap.

We had a blast here! Waitress was extremely helpful and made the fantastic recommendation of ordering a flight of 4 starters rather than just two entrees.

This was fun and you get more food for less.

Although, after seeing the seafood stew - I feel that might be the only way to get the full Soif experience! : ) We will be back to try this!

A gem of a business, tucked away on a side street (105 Walnut Ave.) in Santa Cruz, CA. Dine in and select a wine from their extensive collection, or just stop in for a glass of wine before attending a nearby performance. Friendly, courteous staff willing to assist with a wine selection. Wine is available by the glass, bottle or case.

Went here for dinner on a Friday night. The server was very good and the food tasted decent, but nothing out of this world. The portion size was tiny, especially considering the pricing. My wife and I made another meal right after we got home.

I celebrated my graduation earlier this evening in this great place. Well we passed a magnificent evening and the restaurant was surely the reason for the fruitful event. The waiters cooperated in a gorgeous manner, the food was tasty and my friends were extremely thrilled. We shall absolutely return for more events. thanks very much.

Delicious food, great wine list and wonderful service! Feels like soif has raised their game recently as last couple meals I've had there have been really memorable. Definitely worth a look if you're in downtown santa cruz

Consistently excellent food. And the cocktail program continues to be the best in town. You want to try the Yellowjacket #3, even if it s not on the printed menu.

Amazing food! There are decent restaurants in Santa Cruz but it's rare to find an excellent restaurant and soif is just that. Amazing food, cocktail/wine, great ambiance and good service. Glad to have finally discovered a worthy restaurant close to downtown!!

I was looking for a bottle of celebratory wine to gift a friend and Soif came to the rescue! I received the most incredible customer service from Dede, who went out of her way to help me out. I would highly recommend Soif for the knowledge and kindness of their staff alone!!

Tasty, innovative food and full bar drink selection

Paul was our waiter. He was amazing. We had a cheese plate which paired very well with the wine we had. The ribeye wasn't as good as we expected. There wasnt a ton of flavor and the knives we were given werent all that sharp. Eveything else was fantastic from the service to the atmosphere.

The appettizers we're great, but the mains we're disappointing both on presentation and flavor. Great wine bar, but you probably want to elsewhere to get dinner.

This place was lovely! My family and I came in for cocktails. Theh had a small but excellent selection of handcrafted drinks. Our sever was quirky and sweet. Would recommend!

Wonderful wine selection, ambiance and knowledgeable and friendly sommelier. The wine selection is not your everywhere mainstream fare which was very appealing. We tried French varietals. Soif offerings include many European selections. The sommelier really knows her wines and was informative about Rudolf Steiner biodynamic farming.

Delicious! The food was amazing, the balance of flavors - just right, and the service was stellar! We loved the wine-pairing suggestions with each dish and almost licked the dessert plate ;) Soif was recommended to us and we will definitely recommend it further!

This is the best wine bar in Santa Cruz, in my opinion. We are members because it provides for more variety in your monthly bottles and you get free tastings every Friday. It is completely worth it and I highly recommend visiting. Additionally, the connected restaurant is phenomenal. We dine there frequently and the menu changes a little every day--but we have *never once* been disappointed...or even just satisfied! The chefs and service there is beyond amazing. By far our favorite restaurant. Excellent for date nights when you want to impress and embark on a culinary adventure. As they are attached to both the wine bar and another fine bar on the other side, they have an extensive wine list for every budget and some of the best mixed drinks I've ever had. I honestly can't recommend this place enough. Every single meal we have had there (and there have been many) has been an amazing experience.

Came here for my friend's birthday dinner. We were seated promptly with our reservation. Our server was very friendly and helpful. Our food arrived so fast that we barely had time to finish them before everything else showed up. Luckily all the food was very delicious and we had no problem finding everything.

I don't know much about restaurants in Santa Cruz, but my wife and I were super stoked to come across Soif. We ate at the bar and although we had to pipe up a couple of times (it was pretty bustling and the bartender was pretty swamped), our server was very knowledgeable & friendly. The atmosphere was really nice & we could carry on a conversation easily despite the crowd. The food and wine pairings were spot on. Certainly worth a visit.

Soif remains a staple for locals in Santa Cruz. A fantastic wine selection and a great craft bar, you can always find something for everyone. The food is consistently good and creative but the menu has been a little inconsistent with changing chefs. My latest experience was great so my rating remains high!

The food was way too expensive for OK. It wasn't bad. Just not great. The portions were very small. If I spend $36 on a steak, I expect a steak. Not two small pieces and a mushroom. The ingredients were all fresh and the service was great. The Daisy cocktail was delicious.

Just skip the place. I m local. Been here twice in the last two months. Place is empty on a Thursday and it takes an hour to get our food. Lots of people in the kitchen but very little output. Same experience 6 months ago. Food is better this time but no reason to pay 25+ a main course and wait an hour. Go some place else

My fav location for tasty californian food. I had a cousin come into town and asked me to take him back here. It has a great interior. Menu is like a cafe in Boston I liked.

Tried Soif during Burger week and ordered both burgers (one with beef and the other with cod) as well as a Purpura Sour cocktail. All items were fantastic, and I was especially blown away by the well crafted cocktail. Even more blown away by the great staff - they re so kind and helpful. And the vibe here is very grounded. Which is very much appreciated. Will definitely come back again.

Specializing in wine selections, but not all that many choices at any given time. Now with a full bar and some superb artisanal cocktails. Food is always exceptional, but choices are limited. Small portions. Expensive. Atmosphere is unremarkable. Service is good and professional but never seems particularly friendly.

It s a nice combination the teeters between casual and elegant. It s pretty much fancy pants wine bar without all the pretentious nonsense.

They have a very thorough selection of local wines, California wines American wines and of course European wines.

Oh, if you don t like wine they have a full bar of craft spirits for your enjoyment.

We were there on a busy night with a popular jazz trio, so the food was bit slow to the table. But the food was delicious and the band and the elegant wines made the time pass enoyably. We'll be back whenever we are within striking distance.

I have loved Soif for over a decade. The food is great and the service is wonderful. However, my love of wine started young and the staff was more eager to serve older guests over my 22 year old self. Over the years this changed :)

Excellent place! Small menu but it seems to change periodically. Quite original and fish perfectly cooked. Nice cheeses. A foodie joint with great wines.

Had the scallops the waitress recommended and it was delicious. The service was wonderful and atmosphere cozy. Looking forward to dining here again!
