Think an oven gets their pretzels brown? Snyders uses a solution of caustic soda to turn their pretzels brown. Soda listed in the ingredients is caustic soda. NOT baking soda. QA checks each run to make sure the pH isn't dangerously high, capable of burning your mouth. To say caustic soda is harmless when used to color pretzels is absurd.
It was really cool because you could see how the pretzels are made and put in boxes..Lots of product to buy in the store after..very reasonable..

This outlet store has some good deals and often we find amazing deals. You have to know your prices. Not everything is better than the grocery store, but there are usually a few deals and sometimes we hit it where we find some incredible deals. It just depends on the day.

Bring your lunch and dinner if you are having a live load. Apt 3:00pm, arrival time - 1:00pm backed to dock- 2:30pm and left 8:30pm. 6hrs on the dock.. Smh. They make the product as they load it. Screwed twice here. Am not loading here again.

If you're a truck driver these guys are awful. We have been waiting for then to apparently finish making the pretzels before boxing and loading us. They were supposed to be done with this load by midnight, but we get here and they not only haven't even touched the trailer it's full of pallets. So, we thankfully had a trailer that they have been very slowly loading for 6 hours eating up our time. Don't ship from here. They will screw you over.
I've never been to this place but do enjoy Snyder's of Hanover pretzels. Is the caustic soda mentioned by other reviewers different than baking soda, available for purchase at your local grocery store and used regularly in many baked goods?

Extremely slow to load you. Factory store is nice though. For those concerned about caustic soda, get a life. Caustic soda is used in the manufacturing of bagels, hominy corn, grits and other foods. Just because it isn't on the list of ingredients doesn't mean that it is not used. Caustic soda comes in many different strengths and is used to make a skin on bread products and to remove the outer layer of corn to leave only the starchy inside. It is also used in very weak concentrations as a phone adjuster for many different products and medications. Just remember that stomach acid is also a drain cleaner. It is called muratic acid and that is a specific strength of hydrochloric acid. HCl if you want the chemical listing. Stop taking aspirin, it is made from benzene which is a known carcinogen and what you smell in diesel fuel. Just because a chemical has bad roots does not mean it can't be used safely. So don't go running around screaming like an authority with a little bit of knowledge.
PS. Aspirin used to be made from boiled tree bark. Now they use a catalyst to make the same chemical from benzene. Saves a bunch of trees. And I am not saying aspirin is carcinogenic.

This place closes at 2 pm mon - fri...not open on weekends, but incredibly slow to unload, if you check in before 2pm, they will unload, if 1 minute later than 2, will tell you to come back, if you cant unload by friday, need to return on monday
In at 0830 for a 1400 appt. Loaded and out by 1000 am woo hoo...check and make sure products are ready and you're good here.
Stopped at the factory store today. They had a large selection of product. The store was clean and well organized. Love Snyder's pretzels! I will definitely go back!
