Absolutely loved the fried chicken sandwich. Massive cutlet of chicken with thick slices of bacon. The sauces really brought the sandwich over the top. Definitely get good bang for your buck. Only reason this review isn t 5 stars is because I ordered macaroni salad and they were out so I got fries, but they were subpar. Don t really like that they are soaked in vinegar. But if you are a vinegar fry fan, you ll like them.

This is one of my favorite places to eat in Pittsburgh, even given the delicious variety of food in Lawrenceville. Although you can no longer call ahead (you'll have to show up to get seated) and the place is cash only, their food and cocktails are always supremely satisfying. They change the flavor of their agua fresca (fruit infused soda) often, and the location is famous for the unique flavors of their tacos: wholesome southern often blended with smoky meats. Brunch on Sundays is a special treat, especially if you're a fan of homemade donuts and french toast.

Awesome smoked brisket, pork and tacos, but over priced. Portions are on the small side, only got a couple small pieces of brisket and about a half cup of pork for $22. The pork was a bit dried out, as was the brisket, but I don't think this was typical. So I didn't hold it against them, I'll change my rating to 1 star if it happens when I go back. Great food though, just way overpriced for portions.

I can't tell you enough how amazing this place was. The flavor combinations they use were mind blowing and worked together very well. Great selection of beers to choose from, perfect place for a low stress hang. Grab a beer, grab a taco and relax.

Best Happy Hour on the block- sit at the bar for the food specials- DELICIOUS. The bartenders are friendly and approachable, the margaritas will knock you down if you go too fast (in a good way), and the brisket is melt in your mouth good.

Haven't been there outside of Happy Hour, and we've only sat at the bar- but we are definitely repeat customers and will be back!

The food was above average. Everything I had was very good. Especially like the corn and broccoli side dish! The waiter was extremely good at her job and It was busy.5 stars. The burnt ends should definitely be the first thing u order when u sit down.

Loved it! Delicious food and great prices! One of the most unique eateries around. Small, intimate setting, great food and just great overall time! The workers are so nice and the place is just pure perfection.

Good food but overpriced. Also charge a BYOB fee and $1 for hot sauce. Server was friendly and working hard with the workload she had. I imagine the location dictates some high overhead so the pricing may be justified. Prefer the round place down the street.

Awesome happy hour. Had the mystery taco which made me nervous but it was delicious and something I wouldn't have ordered on my own. The bartender JJ makes the perfect old fashioned. A new favorite spot for me.

Amazing food and the atmosphere is pretty cool too. The menu isn't overwhelming. Great service. Parking is a bit of a pain and my only other issue is during colder months, there is a pretty significant draft coming from the front door (when sat near the entrance). Otherwise, this place is one of my new favorites!

Great look and feel. Food was good, but a bit pricey. I'd tell you what I got, but they rotate their menu, which I think is a cool idea. Downside is that this place is CASH ONLY, so just a heads up. There are ATMs available.

Absolutely my favorite burger in the city. I've tried a few of them, but the traditional cheeseburger is still my first choice! Tender and flavorful beef, a fantastic bun, and the homemade pickles really seals the deal for me. The vinegar fries are also delicious, but the salads are even better.

This place is worth the hype! We heard about this on the Food Network and decided to try it with friends. The food was amazing, I highly recommend coming here! The BBQ Rib dip was SO DELICIOUS! I will definitely be coming back. The only More

Man, I really wanted to love this place. Unfortunately, it totally missed the mark with my boyfriend and me. It's entirely possible that we caught them on an off night, but our food was completely underwhelming.

We started with the Queso, which at $11.5 was a bit steep for me. It does come with a large serving of thick, fried chips, almost like fried pita points. So if you're into that sort of thing, it's a definite plus. I'm more of a fan of traditional, thin, crispy tortilla chips. I thought these were too heavy and greasy. The queso itself was unremarkable. I can't really remember anything about it, to be honest. It wasn't completely terrible, but it wasn't great, and it certainly wasn't worth $11.5

The tacos pretty much fell in line with the queso: Unremarkable. Between us, my boyfriend and I tried the Gringo, the Chicken Apple, the Rib and a pulled-chicken special they had that night. They all somehow managed to be bland, yet too spicy, all at the same time. Heat is not a substitute for flavor, and these just didn't have much flavor. The cilantro, the salsa, the avacado cream, etc... none of that came through in the flavor at all. The meat wasn't even that great, despite the amazing smoky aroma that hits you when you first walk through the door.

So, all of this mediocre food at steep prices and then a 3.5% charge to use a debit card on top of all that? Unfortunately, I don't think we'll be returning to SMOKE.

I guess I am going to say what many of the other low scores said. I loved the food. No complaint about that. I have been going to smoke since it was in Homestead. Have been to this location twice now, but I don't think I will go again. The service was terrible. We were told our wait for 3 would be around an hour around 6:20. We did not sit to eat until around 8:30. We were told they are sorry they under quoted us a little. We drank elsewhere and walked in shops but that is too long. No manager ever addressed the issue and they did not even attempt to comp any part of the bill. I work at one of the hospitals in the area and let everyone at work know and will continue to let everyone I come in contact with, the tacos are good but not worth the 2 hour wait.

Also, I know this was some kind of mistake because people who walked in asked how long was the wait, I told them we have been waiting for 2 hours. They sat them right after us and another group that was there right after we put in our name around 6:20 was sat after that table. NOT COOL!!!

Food was good but $7.50 for a taco seems pricey for the portion size. We were told an hour wait which ended up being 1 hour and 45 minutes. Hostess was rude to us and several others that were waiting. Not worth the wait for me -especially getting service less impressive than fast food.

At happy hour they have mystery tacos for 3 dollars! They were SO GOOD!
Their regular not-mystery tacos are also very delicious! But the mystery tacos also let you have a sense of adventure!

Food was amazing cant beat the mystery tacos and smoked ribs for $3 dollars a piece during happy hour. Their queso and chips...wow. you shouldn't even call them chips. Imagine if mr.pita bread and mrs. Tortilla had a kid this chip was it. Fluff AND crunch.

Tip: happy hour prices only apply to people sitting at the bar. So make sure you sit at the bar.

This was my first time here. I have been a lot of places all over the country and feel this place is well worth the trip. At first I felt like the meats could use more smoke and then I realized that the smoke was there as was the flavor of the meat. It took me a few seconds to realize I was tasting the meat not just a mouthful of smokiness and sauce.
Very good flavors and unique combinations. We had the brisket and the fried smoked chicken. The later really stole the show and was unlike any chicken we had in the past. Sauces were good and all the food had enough spice to feel it.
Staff was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. It was definitely worth the trip and I would go back in a second.
Not sure what I could say I would change. Soft drinks are made there and taste different than what you may be used to.

We were fine with the food but there were some surprises which we werent prepared for.

The place was very weary loud on a late weekday evening!

Uncomfortably loud.

Then we were told at checkout that they only took cash .

We had enough and they said they had an ATM but I'm uncomfortable tipping in cash. This leads to unreported income and it's too easy to evade taxes this way.

My household reports every dollar but this restaurant leads me to feel that they don't . Cash businesses scare me.

Unreported income hurts our economy and is cheating
