Great system if it functioned properly. With more and more frequentcy they have troubles with rate parity and general speed of the system. For the amount they charge I except better.
Went through an obnoxious and long interview process and getting hired only for them to for me for having a court date. Sarah in their HR department said to contact them when my court dates were finished and they would be willing to rehire me, that was a total lie. When I contacted them they said I was ineligible. This company doesn't care about their employees and is extremely dishonest.
By far the worst PMS available on the market. Chip card readers never function correctly causing chargebacks from customers on a daily basis. Do yourself a favor and find another company to work with. Very unreliable system that is constantly going down with guests waiting.
I own and operate an independent hotel. I was looking for a cloud based PMS system so that I can access it from anywhere.After looking at various systems I chose SkyTouch PMS based on the fact that it is owned by Choice Hotels International and offers 24/7 Support.
After using the system for almost a year now here is my review.
Pros:
Cloud based system that can be accessed from anywhere.
24/7 US based support.
Cons:
The system has lots of bugs and glitches and these bugs and glitches are well known to them and yet they are not fixing them.There are only workarounds for these glitches but no real solution. It is extremely frustrating to deal with so many glitches on daily basis.
We have experienced lots of issues with credit card charges where guest's card was charged multiple times and we have reported this issue many times and gave them all the log details and they still failed to figure out what is causing this issue .This is an ongoing issue and is happening frequently.
Lots of issues with printing folios and registration cards.SkyTouch PMS just does not work consistently with PDF files and when you call them they put the blame on your computer's operating system. You cannot even customize the right side of the registration card. There is lots of blank space on the registration cards where we can add property specific information like breakfast/pool hours or wifi passwords but amazingly this simple and logical feature is still not available as of May 2019.
Very limited number of 3rd party integrations. Most of the integrations they offer are related to phone accounting ( so outdated) and locks. other PMS systems have hundreds of 3rd party integrations for every single category. The reason they have very limited number of 3rd party integrations is that it does not benefit them.
The system is exact copy of the Choice Advantage PMS used at the Choice hotels so it was developed for their franchised locations therefore it does not offer much options or features for independent hotels. For example if you go to any McDonalds you get the same menu and the owner cannot change anything in the menu but if you own an independent restaurant you can add anything to your menu based on latest trends and eating habits. It is same issue with Skytouch and their system is very limited and it was developed to keep tight control on their franchises with the thinking that one size fits all but that thinking is not applicable to folks like me who own and operate independent hotels.
If there is any new feature that can be beneficial to independent hotels they will not implement it. They only add features that are beneficial to Choice hotels and does not care about the needs and wants of independent hotels. I will give you one example of this:
As any hotel manager knows that some guests are problematic and they don't want them staying at their hotel but Skytouch do not have the functionality to flag these problematic guests. Skytouch is not adding this feature because it does not benefit them. On the other hand if you are a member of their loyalty program but have never used that card or points for years and years and did not present your loyalty card at check in they have the capability of identifying your membership status based on your name or home address or email address or by your phone number. They have had this feature for a long time because it benefits them financially because any time a loyalty member stay at one of their franchised hotel Choice hotels earn 5% fee. So you can see if it is beneficial to independent hotels they will not do anything but if it benefits them financially those feature are added immediately.
If you are in the market for buying a new PMS system for your independent hotel you will be much better off going with different PMS system other than SkyTouch. If you still decide to go with SkyTouch just remember that you will be facing lots of issues with this PMS and it will be very frustrating having to deal with these issues on a daily basis.
I LOVE the hotels they are so nice and it is a good place to work.
