This place is very well kept. Very nice facility. Went there for a veterans presentation on benefits and other resources on how to apply for a veteran pension. They have many classes and other educational opportunities such on Medicare and your options in supplement health plans. Lots of exceptional seminars on a variety of issues effecting seniors. Highly recommended.
Went to the opening ceremony for the annual Community Games. Well supported by the city, businesses and many volunteers. 15 games to be played over 2 weeks. Looks like a great event!
One of the most important phases of maturing is that of growth from self-centering to an understanding relationship to others. A person is not mature until he has both an ability and a willingness to see himself as one among others and to do unto those others as he would have them do to him.
It's great to see our community seniors having a good time. The amount of history and 1st hand experience is amazing. As a member of Simi Valley Ch.55 Disabled American Veterans I have the honor of being surrounded by heroes of this great country during our monthly meeting at the Senior Center on the 2nd Thursday @ 1500 p.m. I would like to give an invitation to the younger vets to join in my experience. It's a pleasure to help out our seniors and fellow vets. Hope to see you there.
The Simi Valley Senior center provides a wonderful place to go ballroom dancing. The bands are wonderful the dance classes are fun and they even have good food and drinks.
UPDATE: OK, so despite my harsh comments below, the folks at the Senior Center called me and set me up to work with their Meals-on-Wheels program. I'm so glad they did - I love it!
To be clear, my rating is NOT based on the services offered by the Senior Center, but rather the quality of their volunteer program. I visited the Center to learn more about what they do and to volunteer there. I subsequently applied through their website and even hand-delivered a paper copy of that application. They promised to get back to me. When they didn't, I called to inquire as to the status of my application; they told me they would look into it. Maybe they did. Maybe they didn't. I'll never know, as no one ever got back to me. It's sad when a non-profit organization purports to need volunteers, but then does nothing about it.
I go to my quilt guild there. It's wonderful. I have also taken Tai Chi classes there. They have a great variety of programs for seniors and non seniors.
This is a wonderful place for seniors. I have lots of fun playing games and there are many classes, like painting, ceramics, computer technology and many more. Then Richard's also offer trips. And the people you meet are very nice. Anyway, this is the place for the me.
I thank all the volunteers and staff for the wonderful experience.
