Being in such an outdoor adventure area, I expected more when I checked out Sierra. Unfortunately it is mostly an outdoor-ish looking clothing store. The gear and supplies on sale for a real outdoor adventure were the things the inexperienced and unknowing might purchase for their first outdoor overnight or trip. To be sure, this is becoming a more common failing as form outsells function, but by the location I expected more from such a large vendor.

The staff is the best, the prices are unbeatable and it's right next to while foods which makes it a convenient get all your goods in one stop. Great selection for toddlers to adults and it's always clean and organized.

Great options

This store is always kept clean and well organized, even when there are many large winter coat options, snowboards, kayaks and paddle boards available for sale.
I have purchased clothing, camping gear, dog beds, cook books and home decorations. The quality of the products are impressive and the sale price is even more impressive as I have found name brand products at a very affordable price.
If you are looking for outdoor gear then I d recommend this place as your first stop.

Policies have changed since merging with box stores Marshalls and TJMax. Ck return policy!
Store looks good but merchandise looks scarce. Prices are good ..
service is lacking especially in shoes and sports equipment. Friendly staff but too few of them and they lack experience. Not an REI experience for sure.

We always find great deals... As with any store of its type, sometimes you have to look through lots of items and you have to know what you're looking at. The staff is mostly friendly, though not always knowledgeable (let's face it... REI has the staff for outdoors specific questions). Know what you're looking for, show up regularly, and you'll find some amazing deals.

I walked through the store the other day, and was deeply disappointed. Sierra Trading Post used to be a great store for outdoor gear and clothes. That was all they sold. Now that they are owned by TJ Maxx, it just looks like yet another discount store. It looked like I was walking through a Ross or Marshall's. It was mostly housewares and low quality gift items. The entire time I was in the store I was never even greeted by any of the employees...not even once, even though I walked past several (some that didn't even look up from what they were doing). I guess I will have to find another place to get my outdoor gear.

Definitely hit or miss with this one. I've found some great deals on cool gear a few times but I'm mostly underwhelmed when I visit (which is still pretty often just in case).
I think the problem is I compare them too much to their online store which is AMAZING.
Your best bet: visit right after Christmas when all the returns are in the store, lots of good stuff to dig through!

Great place for clearance deals on excellent name brand outdoor clothing, gear, shoes, and kids stuff. Selection is sometimes hit or miss, but I often check for good deals here first before going to REI.

Very good selection, good prices, excellent to buy clothes for activities away from home, they usually only have the seasonal items in store but there is plenty to choose from, it also has camping equipment, fishing, sleeping bags and chairs.

I love this place because they have everything I'm interested in for the outdoors. Amazing deals on EVERYTHING! From sunglasses to hiking boots to pet food. I got a Manduka Yoga Mat, always wanted one for %50 off. What?!?! Seriously shop online here and they have RTI (real time inventory) so you don't have to leave the comfort of your home! Shop Here!

This place is SO fabulous!! Not just for bike/fitness fanatics or uber survivalist outdoorsy-types, nope! This gem of a retailer offers specialty as well as everyday products of the utmost durability& workmanship. Online the selection is remarkable, but I gotta say- in the store is where I ve stumbled across the finds that weren t even listed because they d only ended up on the shelves due to a return or exchange- like, for instance my new pair of Royal Canadian shearling cuff fully lined leather boots- in blue velvety leather- a non-option on color selection online-it didn t EXIST... I had fallen in LOVE with the brick red version of these boots on site but alas, as is usually the case with something marked down past HALF what they retail AND consign for, only size 5 was in stock. Backordering is not an option. There were NO other boots, not even for 3-4x the cost that were the quality and beauty- well made functionality that I just KNEW would work-in smoothly. I can t evdn begin.. they have a GEL sole, get chrissakes! I didn t even know that but before purchasing!

Anyhoo- got to store at 8:15& had about $400 in returns to perform. Dropped off at desk& went back to find correct sizes. Like I said, more inventory online& the fact that none of my shoes were avail on shelves proves it. I had to order resizes online- which was okay cause I m sure they just needed a minor tweak. In the interim I tried on some other compromises that I found I couldn t settle for- then, behind a glaringly ugly pair of vegan leather riding boots I saw the shearling cuff- dare I breathe? And then the color! I m a redhead- so u know I m not TRYING to bring more contrasting red on the scene. Dream come true. Found a woolridge sweater- adorable woodland farsyle for only $12.99 and I could ve looked in there for AGES. So today after qdoba- I ran over there at a quarter till- hoping to find an oversized sweatshirt, shades& legwarmers- I got shades, a cozy wool sweater/leggings set (for $5 freaking DOLLARS!!) and a slouchy crochet layering tank- all for <$35! Can t be beat with a nuns yard stick!

My wife and I were pleasantly surprised by the variety and brands we found. Prices are similar to TJ Maxx or the like. You will save money. We discovered some Rumpl Puffy Panchos for $79. They are still over $100 retail if you can find them in a brick and mortar store. We would go again.

The selection is phenomenal. Staff is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The prices beat anywhere in town.
I visit once a week because the selection changes so often. If you find it, like it, buy it! It likely won t be there if you have to think about it.
The dressing rooms are always open so you won t have to chase down a salesclerk.
The lines for the cashier are quick, no ridiculous wait times.
And might I mention one more time: you can t beat the prices, high quality, name brand and they aren t cast-offs, the merchandise is very up to date.
There are many sporting and activity stores to choose from here in Reno; this one can t be beat.

Most of the clothing had the wrong size hangers and were labeled wrong on the racks ..... very disorganized however some good priced items from cheaper brands .... deals thumbs up , disorganized store thumbs down
