Wife wanted milk and they said they didn't have, so she asked for water with lemon. No lemon. My salad was lettuce - thats it. I asked for crackers and she brought me a small bag of osyter crackers. Wife's spare ribs was very good but came with no sides. My brisquit was tender but "un-eventfull" not much flavor. No dessert and thank goodness I had cash on me, they don't take credit/debit cards. Won't be going back.

The server was sweet. The food was good. The company great!

What a neat place in small town USA. Great ribs! Slaw with blue cheese and walnuts was a treat. Great place, great food, great service.

Worst smoked meat I've ever had. If there was smoke involved it was because the cook had a cigarette.

Stopped for lunch at 1:15 PM on Aug. 8, 2020. Neither customers or employees were wearing masks so we walked out. The only tools we have for controlling COVID-19 are masks covering mouth and nose, social distancing, and hand washing. In order to claw our way back from a failing economy we must get COVID-19 under control. With freedom, comes individual responsibility.

The pork tenderloin with pulled pork was really tasty! But the Taffy Apple Salad is what made it! So good! Excellent, friendly service also!

Smoked turkey and baked beans, sweet potato fries are great. One of my favorite combinations

Stopped for lunch. If you like barbeque you will like this place. The rib meat was great.

Go here! You will not regret it even if you have to drive 20 miles out of the way. I've grown up in the south and this is THE BEST barbecue I've ever had in my life. Great sauce, amazing sides.... If you are anywhere near here, do your palate a favor and stop in for the most phenomenal barbecue. Stop reading this review and just go already. Why are you still reading this... Ok, get the pulled pork and the brisket, sweet potato fries and potato salad. You will regret eating anywhere else in this town when you could have had barbecue of this caliber.

Waited 50 minutes for ribs, never received, never saw waitress again, when i asked a waiter he was very rude. I been a customer from the beginning, but have noticed quality has been slipping, i can no longer recommend this restaurant. Go to kramers and get the cowpoke instead, always good and no rude staff.

If you have not tried this place it is amazing. You cannot get the ribs till after 5 but well worth the wait! Yummy! On the sweet side but delish! Staff always sweet and very helpful, never get my order wrong. Dont know if they take credit yst but as far as i know they only take cash. Typical meal will run about 12 or less per person. But seriously never gotten bad food ever! Been going there for years.

nice clean restaurant. kids portions are a little to small for anyone over the age of 4. Burgers and pulled pork were delicious but the brisket tasted like it was boiled

Had turkey club. Very good. Chips were ok. Pricing slightly higher but good food for them price

The pulled pork was dry. Even though the service was good and the beans and chips were really good , i went for the BBQ and it wasn't that good. I will probably not go back.

This is the best BBQ I've ever had! The stage is so fun and friendly. The price is right for delicious food. I highly recommend Niel & Shorty's.

Nice to have near by but execution could be way better

I've grown up in the Illinois Valley region and their BBQ pork ribs may be the best I have ever had locally. Also, highly recommend their Cole slaw with Bleu cheese and walnuts, soooo good!

We in joy the food very much. The first time there will go back.

We have eaten here several times. Most recently we found out they now accept credit cards and have ribs at 5pm instead of six! Every experience here is well beyond expectations!

Very bad service. Our waitress came by to take our drink orders, take our food order, then deliver our food and that s it. We had to shout across the restaurant to get our drinks refilled. Portion sizes were unbelievably small. My brisket came with 4 small slices. Good side choices but overall just ok. I won t be back

BBQ and the atmosphere here is better than most. this place has a cool atmosphere. atmosphere is similar to a place in columbus i loved.

Meh, the service was ok, the food was okay. They only have one bbq sauce and it was mediocre. Their coleslaw however was original and inspired. Overall I would eat there again, but it would never be my 1st choice

Decent service and bbq baked beans. I was disappointed in the turkey. The smoked salmon salad is one of the best salads I've ever had. The atmosphere is comfortable and clean, I definitely will be returning .

Neil & Shorty s was my forth BBQ joint in four states in two weeks. So I think it s safe to say that I have some recent comparisons for this review. I did have some reservations about coming here because this place is right in my local area and when I have something bad to say about local places the daggers come out.
They did a nice job with the remodel as it not only reflects the cuisine but the local area as well. Nice new furniture, floors and the color scheme as well. I even thought that the service was really good.
I ordered a two meat combination plate of brisket and pulled pork with baked beans and corn bread. Brisket, probably the hardest of the BBQ meats to prepare righteously was excellent. Smoke ring, beefy and juicy check, check and check. The pulled pork had a nice flavor especially when paired with that awesome sauce. However it was slightly tepid. I loved loved the baked beans, quite possibly one of the best I ve ever had. Also Jiffy has a run for their money with their corn bread. Alright two things I don t want to say don t like as not to sound two strong about it but .Where s the Mac & Cheese I m at a BBQ joint and get rid of those stupid packaged margarine thingies and give me a little scoop of whipped butter.

Neil & Shorty s BBQ is a welcome addition to the downtown Princeton food scene. I wish them all the best and I ll definitely be back . Maybe next time a slab of ribs. Go there its really good!

Brisket was liked it was held in a steamer. Water logged and lacking smoke flavor. Pulled pork not much better. If you're a local you get better attention. Asked for ketchup got none. Was not visited until end of meal.

This place was very good. If you are not a huge smoke fan this is the place for you. The meat has a slight smoked flavor but nothing over powering.

The menu has a good variety of food to accommodate everyone in your party. Great service and friendly staff!

Clean, well put together place. Friendly with quick service, the food was awesome and the prices were even lower than anticipated. Definitely worth a trip and will return again and again.

Good food, very nice servers but I would have given five stars if they would have taken debit/credit cards. I will definitely be making another visit in the future.

They have the best barbq ribs are to die for there chips are fantastic and the Carmel apple salad is out of this world

Love the look and feel of the place. Staff is excellent! Fried cod was pretty greasy, but tasted good. Was surprised that they only had one flavor of barbecue sauce at the table. It was late, so we didn't ask if they had more. I do love their homemade chips! I will eat here again, because, BBQ. The smoked meats are the real reason to eat here anyway. But I will avoid fried fish.

This was such a neat find. The place has an awesome ambiance. Our server was extremely friendly and helpful explaining the different menu items. You could tell the servers worked well as a team. The food was very delicious too! All a wonderful experience. Oh, there are 2 separate roo.s for seating and outdoor seating.

Brisket horrible no smoke flavor cold and stiff. They say 1/2 lb but to me it didn't seem close to a 1/2 lb. of meat (2 thin cold stiff strip). Pulled pork just ok again no smoke or much flavor to it. Sides are just ok as well. I was hoping for a lot better. One plus is the BBQ sauce is good. I hope they can eventually put some care into the food they make.
