I applied for current openings 4 times never heard back from them. DO NOT apply for this company if you re not recommended they will just GHOST you. Don t waste your time with these people, it s just like any other big construction company out there.

Working for a building automation company, my experience with Shapiro and Duncan has been nothing short of great. I worked alongside the crew when I was in a tech role, worked with the PM's when I was in a PM role and now work with estimating and managers in my sales Exec role. Great people across the board.

I got an apprenticeship at S&D back in the early 2000's. I thought that I was on the fast track to having a good career and living the American dream. One day I came into work just to be told I was laid off due to lack of contracts. I was told I would be called back to work ASAP.

Later on I learned that S&D fired me and replaced me with an immigrant that they could pay less. I was only 1 of many Americans who experienced this. Shapiro and Duncan devastated my life and it has never been the same. This was all in the name of cheap immigrant labor. How sad.

Even though i got laid off back in 2012. I will admit it is a good company also many scale jobs in dc. I was 18 when i started i was making 25 a hour it really help me to get my life started off on a good note. So no hard feelings. Will apply again if needed

Shapiro & Duncan DO NOT rent enough lifts for their man power. Instead, they encourage their employees to "find" ladders, lifts etc. From other trades to get the job done regardless of whether or not they asked permission to use such equipment. As of recently turning their attention to undocumented subcontracted employees and basically cutting any corner they can to save a buck.

Insurance Associates has provided license and contract bonds for Shapiro & Duncan for over 10 Years! We work with their accounting, business development and construction project management teams on a regular basis. Shapiro & Duncan has an excellent reputation, not only in the mechanical contracting industry, but also in the surety bonding industry. The surety companies know they are extremely thorough and have impeccable financials so they do not hesitate to approve a bond. Their employees are highly skilled, professional and responsive. In addition to having a great reputation for the work they perform, they also are very involved with their local community with Junior Achievement which helps young people to succeed and The Big Build at the National Building Museum. Needless to say, we are proud to call them a client!

Great Experience All Around!!! Their facilities in Landover, MD were immaculately run and very clean.
