Sevalaya is a registered charitable trust that has been working towards the upliftment of the poor, empowerment of women, and care for the downtrodden for over 28 years. Founded in 1988, Sevalaya was inspired by the teachings of Mahakavi Bharathiyar, Mahatma Gandhi, and Swami Vivekananda.
The vision of Sevalaya is to create a society where every individual has access to basic necessities such as food, shelter, education, healthcare and employment opportunities. The organization believes that poverty can be eradicated only through education and empowerment.
Sevalaya's mission is to provide quality education to underprivileged children who cannot afford it. The organization runs several schools in rural areas where children from economically weaker sections are given free education.
