Scioto Downs Racino Review

We had a party of 14 for dinner on Dec. 23. We had planned to eat at the buffet.
After our group all arrived the cashier at the buffet told us we could not eat there because we had 2 Minor children with us. They said we could eat at the Brew Brothers bar and grill.
That was a little confusing, then they explained there was a separate entrance from the hotel to that venue.
The law did not allow the kids to cross the casino floor. WHO KNEW ?
I will say we had an excellent meal and the server's did an excellent job. A+
They only took about 10 minutes to get us seated A+
The food was very good and everybody found something they liked.

After reflection, we decided we should have asked about the age question. It does not say anything about minimum age, but it is a casino after all. We assumed they would have created an entrance to the buffet from the new hotel they attached to it

Still we had a great time and excellent food and service.

We were turned away after driving over an hour to meet friends here because my 4 year old daughter was with us. They said she's not allowed to be on the floor (we were not gambling nor had any attentions to do so), and since there's no other way into the buffet, we had to leave, while all of our other party was inside. This was before noon, so I'm sure it wasn't busy with gamblers, and she wouldn't have any clue what they were doing anyway.

This is the better of the two casinos in Columbus. Obviously you can't make a review based on winning/losing but they are just overall better than their counterpart Hollywood. The drinks are way cheaper, their food options are better. The smoking patios are larger and have better games. Not to mention the horse track is a fun outing in the summer. The bartenders are always friendly. The only thing is, if you don't go regularly, they stop sending you promo.

It was ok tonight was hoping to win some money but got to play alot on my 20.00 before I went broke.

All you can eat crab legs on Friday's! The staff is really friendly and I like the atmosphere

My first time at Scioto Downs I was told this place was a good place to go friendly people good service well I have to tell you it was one of the worst places I've been workers did not understand English couldn't find no assistance it was really bad I will never go again

I love scioto downs the place and staff are awesome in the casino and the hotel very friendly and very helpful and the Brew brothers is excellent with a great staff the only downside to this place is the Grove buffet went there for Thanksgiving dinner was very over priced not much of a selection and the food was terrible it's a shame to have this in such a great place.

Not impressed with it at all . Hollywood is way better .

With the amount of people there on Derby day hertong a beverage should be a whole lot easier. More bartenders would help a lot.

We had a slot tournament to raise money for The First Responder Face-Off Foundation. The employees were absolutely fabulous and took really good care of me tbroughout the day. Their food is top notch and their professional, friendly attention to all was amazing!!!! Thank you Kacie and staff.

Really fun to watch and bet on the horses. Lots of pesky moths, though.

We go here to gamble occasionally. Cool place. Often pretty busy. Went on new years eve and it was packed! Typically lots of machines available to play. Several bigger titles of games to play. The popular ones are usually occupied.

You can win and have a good time and good food and great entertainment

Staff was top notch very friendly and customer service oriented. Decor was so so.... some parts very elegant but some parts a little brash. Almost trying too hard. Music was just too loud and more fit for a dance club and not conducive to relaxing and enjoying gambling. And all they have is slot machines.

It was my first time doing and the workers were so Friendly. I will definitely be back

I had lunch at Brew Brothers. It was excellent! Good service and reasonable prices. Nice atmosphere. I had the Southwestern Meatloaf, and I highly recommend this dish. Lots of food for the money. They have a stage and live music on the weekends. Lots of fun!!

Fun, and quick time (we allow 50$ to burn through). Obviously, sometimes are longer than others. Drink prices rose in the last few weeks.

Try to go when Dirty Money seeks live karaoke band is playing

Went on Tuesday evening, selection left a lot to be desired. Frankly I have seen better selection at Golden Corral, for about the same price.
Country fried steak was tough as shoe leather, fried rice was cold and had no taste.
Also they had a lot of items behind glass, or otherwise set up for only full serve, e.g. dessert, pasta, and meat (don't they trust the customers to get their own food?). The one redeeming selection was the Italian chicken.
Way overrated, I would not recommend going here.

I don't go there to Gamble, My own personal opinion is not to waist money especially at a casino. I always feel like they are rigged for you to lose. Just from watching TV shows, Lol...I have only been there twice to cash my my pick four lottery winnings that I have won twice on the same pick four in two months. (Yes it is technically/no literally gambling as well) But I only spend $7.00 once a week, so $21.00 a month) I go to the gas station where I purchased my ticket & they filled out there portion of the paperwork, then I filled out mine. I thought I was going to get the money from them since it was under $1,000. He tells me to go to Scioto Downs or I believe the other name for it is "Eldorado Scioto Downs" 6000 North High St., just off Route 23 on the left. I go there and they were so polite. The lady explained to me that I did not need to go to the gas station to fill out the paperwork. She told me that I could just go directly there and explained that I needed to refill the current paperwork they had. She said it will take a few minutes and she would be right back. I waited for about 5 minutes and she came back and paid me my winnings minus the $10.00 charge for cashing it. The second time I won on the same number I forgot the lady told me I can go to them directly. So I went back and a guy helped me this time he told me the reason I should go directly to them and reason was because their forms from the gas station were so outdated I would have to fill out a a form again everytime. So he said their was a couple of other people that were waiting on their winnings to be cashed and all though I was not gambling...he told me and my mother in law if we wanted while we were waiting we could help ourselves to free cold beverages (non alcoholic of course) and hot beverages as well. Hot chocolate and coffee. We got our drinks and sat down. I ended up getting another refill and by then he was ready so I went and picked up my winnings. $790.00. He said next time we see you maybe you will be cashing $5000.00 from a straight not a box. I said to Let's Hope!! It's only been a couple weeks now, so I am just waiting for the big winning this time!! But the casino seemed like and old school casino from the TV series Las Vegas the one when they first started and before they changed the set. But I like the feel of it better then the Casino on Georgesville Rd. My mother in law took me there gave me $20.00 to play whatever I wanted. She only brought $40.00 20 for me and 20 for her. We both lost...Lol

Horrible smell for miles around the casino. Not their fault, but not exactly appealing either! The casino itself is not bad, just very dated and nothing but slot machines. It definitely seems like their main demographic is an older/local crowd.

We went at "The Grove Buffet" for the unlimited snow crabs! It was amazing comparing to other buffet that serves snow crabs, I love how they cook/steam their snow crabs, meat is tender and its like fresh and steamed right away, worth every penny, I was expecting though more main course variety but its pretty decent, I love the mussels, sausage and corn I just wish they have this seafood broil sauce. Their dessert section has a lot of variety. The staff are hardworking, friendly and very accommodating I will definitely go back again.

Good place to go if you DON'T have a gambling problem!! Love the music and get away to myself

1st time there I dont kno anything about gambling or slot machines but it was interesting played the .25 slot machine

Love this casino. They have some good casino games here. Great place to go and they also have other things you can do other than just gambling and you can also stay over night at the hotel that's connected to them also. I'm gonna have to take another trip there and check out the hotel and the other things they have there other than gambling. Thanks team for running a great place to gamble, eat, drink, hotel, and other things also.

You can definitely tell there is limited local competition. Tightest machines in Ohio. $5.50 fee for the ATM, $4 for a Bud Light. Total money pit dump.

Been going there since they opened the doors and since the hotel was built the machines are tight low pay outs !!!

It's fun bright and the chance to win your money back is great

If you smoke, don't play the outside games. They are meant for you to lose while you smoke. Payout is set low.

I was on vacation in Columbus. I stopped to watch the Preakness. The facility is nice, very relaxing atmosphere. I will definitely stop again when I am in the area.

First, upon arrival we were told by your hostesses there would be a wait. We did expect that. But what we did not expect was your hostesses to tell us they could not give us a time frame. I have never been to any restaurant where they would not give an estimated time frame. We were also not anticipating an hour wait.

Second, was the best part of your restaurant. Our waitress, Paige was great. However, nothing else about our experience with your establishment was. I was expecting Brew Brothers to have a much broader selection of their own in house brewed beer. What they did have was a very outdated drink menu. Almost everything that was on your menu was not available. Very disappointing. While a couple of the drinks were fine, the peppered beer, oh what a disgust. Even the name should have given that away, but in attempt to be fair, it was given a chance. But, clearly was way, way off.



Finally, the biggest irritation of the evening was AFTER we ate, and had a couple drinks, paid our tab, and was walking out that your staff decided it was the time to stop our party and ask my nephew for his identification. Now, can you explain this? Why is AFTER he was served, and had consumed his drink was he ID? If that was a concern isn't that something you clarify BEFORE serving someone, and allowing them to consume the drink(s)? Not at the bottom of the ramp afterwards? What a joke, doubtful I will ever return to your establishment. Think I will wait until a real brewery opens up, which thankfully will not be long.

Always a good time win or lose. Supper with the wife, all you can eat crablegs

Itsok i was disturbed by so many birds flying around.

The buffet is clean and organized the atmosphere is happy. The service is great. I love the pizza bar the brick oven is great.the price is a little high however you get what you pay for. Very clean and well stocked. I will be back and treat myself to a great experience.

Only outdoor smoking. No table games. No video poker. Great fish and chips at Brew Brothers.

I love going to Scioto Downs. We always have fun. I gave only 4 stars b/c the last time I was there, there were quite a few machine that were not working.

Tacky but way better coffee creamers than hollywood, soda machines often broken though. Good free play rewards and nice new bar on left. New games hit well also. Only slots though.

Meh.. restaurant was mediocre and overpriced with poor service. Snack bar was good and security staff was great. Location was clean and if slots are your thing probably acceptable. Otb area was closed during both trips so I can not speak to it however I have little hope from all other indications.

Brew Brothers was a huge disappointment. We sat there for 15 minutes and 3 different waiters walked by us. No we will be with you in a moment, no water, etc. The Manager just stared at us opened mouthed when we told him we were leaving and why.

UPDATE TO RESPONSE FROM OWNER: We did talk to the Hostess and the Manager was standing right there. They just stared at both my husband and I. Your response below is not sufficient in my opinion. Its actually not helpful in the slightest.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. Fun atmosphere there.

If you enjoy playing slots or harness racing, then this is the place to be.
