About Say: the stuttering association for the young (formerly our time)

Say: The Stuttering Association for the Young (formerly Our Time) is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been providing support, advocacy, and life-changing programs for young people who stutter for over 20 years. SAY's comprehensive and innovative programs address the physical, social, and emotional impacts of stuttering in children aged 3-18.

SAY's mission is to empower young people who stutter by creating a community of acceptance, friendship, and encouragement. The organization believes that every child deserves to be heard and understood regardless of their speech impediment. SAY provides a safe space where children can express themselves freely without fear of judgment or ridicule.

One of SAY's most popular programs is its summer camp. This program brings together children from all over the country to participate in activities such as swimming, hiking, arts and crafts, drama classes, music lessons among others while also receiving speech therapy sessions from licensed therapists who specialize in treating stuttering. The summer camp experience helps build self-confidence while also providing an opportunity for children to make lifelong friends with other kids who share similar experiences.

In addition to its summer camp program, SAY offers regional day camps throughout the year which provide similar experiences but on a smaller scale. These day camps are held in various locations across the country making it easier for families who cannot attend the summer camp due to distance or other reasons.

SAY also offers speech therapy services through its licensed therapists who specialize in treating stuttering. These services are available both online via teletherapy or face-to-face at one of their many locations across the country.

Another unique aspect of SAY's programming is its creative arts programming which includes drama classes taught by professional actors as well as music lessons taught by professional musicians among others. These classes help build confidence while also providing an outlet for self-expression through art forms that may not require verbal communication skills.

SAY has been recognized nationally for its work with young people who stutter including being featured on NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt as well as being awarded Charity Navigator’s highest rating four years running (2016-2019).

In conclusion Say: The Stuttering Association for the Young (formerly Our Time) provides comprehensive support services aimed at empowering young people aged 3-18 living with stutters through innovative programs that address physical social emotional impacts associated with this condition .
