Saxion is not a university but uses the English term in a misleading manner. A few years back the school had a scandal because it forced international students to enroll in certain programs while other programs were "full". Meanwhile the school was just looking after its own financial interest.
I've personally studied at Saxion and while some of the teachers are good most of them are in fact average to incompetent.
Ironically, I had to take an English exam to even be admitted to Saxion while many of my classmates did not had to. Many teachers make many spelling errors and just speak an average English.
The global organization of saxion is very chaotic. There's not even classrooms compared to the number of students.
Food at the cafeteria is pricey like others suggested.
The library is very noisy.
Saxion has many events to make their own image better, however I believe that the only goal is to make more money. Somehow the food at those events is free and I believe it's paid by the student tuition fees...

An economically run Hogeschool based on late informing its students with information about important events, but also the schedule of each quartile is only indicated one week in advance so that it cannot be planned around. 9/10 students feel cheated / scammed. Saxion has set up the OEM for this, where students' complaints are concealed by means of excuses and Saxion is very proud to focus on the 4/5 points that go well. The only thing that gives this school character are the study associations and the students who are both neglected by saxion. In spite of all this, the students try to make their way through activities with the study association.

The education is pretty average. It's neither insanely poor, nor outstandingly up-to-date. By itself, some programs would deserve 2,5/5 stars.
I cannot agree with others who state that the architecture of the buildings is "beautiful". It's just ugly concrete and poorly planned. The campus is spread over the city. Students and teachers sometimes have to go from one building to the next in short amount of times and since it's the Netherlands there is a very good chance that there will be rain. Food choices are quite broad at the cafeteria but it's nothing special. I've had better at other universities.
What did strike me the most was the bureaucratic terror regime that is brought upon students AND teachers by the sheer incompetence of the administrative personal. While some are okay, others are uncooperative, unmotivated, pushy and even malevolently using the bureaucratic system against students and teachers.
Finally, I'd like to point out that this campus, and thus by extension also the administration, seems very concerned with their public image. Indeed, many organisations and expositions are held around themes as "inequality" (understand inequality of outcome), "injustice" and the wage and post-modern concept of "social justice". I wonder where all the money, money that serves to propagate the ideological agenda of previously said people.
The place seems to be run, or at least infiltrated, by too many extreme left ideologues advancing their own agenda. This is of course the last thing you want in an "university" (saxion is not a university but a college at best, university is not a protected term) since it should be a place where seeking the truth should be the priority of teachers and students alike.

If you want an average education, you might want to consider this place. This may depend on which department organizes the curriculum. If you aspire to excellency, you will have to find some better place.

Excellent school to follow your college education. You have a new section and an old part of the building. Of course, the quality differs per study program, so I can not say much about that. The school is close to the train and bus station. The city center of Enschede is within walking distance.

International students, please don't go to Saxion housing, I don't have time nor energy to comment on how bad it is after dealing with them. The university is mediocre, would maybe deserve 2 stars if the housing wasn't that bad, but not more.

Nice

As a student at this school studying Game programming, I could not wish a better education (of course minor tweaks should definitely be added). But perfection is impossible, it is definitely a lot closer to that than the average universities like UT twente

Hogeschool Enschede has no backbone. Want to silence student Shayno Numansen by not publishing her story about the Armenian genocide externally. threat from Turkish corner.Triest freedom of speech is also worth nothing in the Netherlands

This place Sucks! Low standards, pricey food, unscientific teaching, average supervision. The UTwente is a well known institution in Enschede, Saxion is way bellow standard.

The only reason to go there is that almost everyone passes. So if you are lazy and unambiguous you might consider going there.

International students please note: The Dutch population living in this region of Twente is considerably closed minded. You are better off at the cost which is traditionally more international and open minded.

Just seen photos of the graduation ceremony, what a disappointment I come across photos where they just stand with 4 people why you can only take 2 with you. Saxion has clearly not adhered to the rules and others have become the victims of this again

Graduation ceremony of our daughter in Corona time after 1 July rules relaxed, but Saxion does not participate at most, 2 people inside so no account is taken of parents or friend, who should she choose than 1 parent and partner or neither parents a partner. Our daughter lives together, I sacrificed myself as a mother, but this would not have been necessary if saxion had taken this into account a little more.

I applied at this university as a back up in case I did not get accepted into the University of Twente. I spent four days in Enschede and decided to leave the area. The people of this town are small minded and do not like English speakers. The vibe I got from this town was extremely hostile and negative. I would avoid Enschede and try the West of the Netherlands if you are determined to study there.

Smart Solutions wasted my money and made me want to quit, as well as how teachers literally didn't care about me being paired with 4 inadequate students who couldn't even speak English! And the project had to be in English, so we used a google translate. It was horrible. Wasted money, time and health.
In general if you have a better option, please find a different uni.

If you are of an international race from whichever country you're from, I guarantee you that this university will make you feel appreciated and comfortable in this all new experiences. As a south-eastern asian myself who grew up in a racist and harsh community, I've received nothing but compassion, understanding, and an immense devotion of learning from the teachers to me. The foods are fairly expensive, but most students tend to bring food, buy food, or make food from home. Although the design may be simplistic with its concrete appearance, it still offers the minimalistic trend that everyone tend to favors! Have you seen the hugeness of it as well? Additionally, the gorgeous library and the FABLAB? Therefore, personally I think it's right to say that this university is well more over than just a 'mediocre' vocational campus. Many blessings, love and peace!
