We are normally a group of 5-6 people that enjoy going to Sawa on Friday afternoons. The location is great and the food is normally good. Yesterday I met there with a friend (we made the table reservation as requested). The service was beyond terrible. We waited almost half an hour for someone to come back to our table! Then another 20 minutes for a bottle of water! 2 glasses of wine had lipstick on them, which is absolutely gross and worrying during COVID times, and the server said sarcastically oh maybe I should change the glass ... I told her that maybe they should wash them! The food finally came after all the tables around ours had been served multiple plates. We really tried to make the best out of such a bad experience, but at the end when the coffee came out cold and no spoons, I went to look for a manager. They gave us a 20% discount, which was nice of him, but I would have preferred a nicer experience. BTW the mahi mahi was extremely salty. The sea bass was good. As times change, so does the quality of service... I m just not used to snappy servers.

Great place to dine when you're in the mood for Mediterranean food. Not only Mediterranean - they also serve sushi rolls. Next time you're in Merrick Park, stop by and have some hummus, a falafal platter, or a bowl of lentil soup.

Great outdoor surrounding. Hint of Paris feeling, Mediterranean vibes with a touch of Japan. Our waiter Roli(Rolando) was amazing! Very polite staff. Plus a belly dancer..kids friendly environment. Great date night!

Delicious food! Beautiful presentation. We had Baba Ghanoush, Rainbow sushi, Greek Salad and Salmon. Salmon was perfectly cooked. Crusty outside and soft inside. Nice to see three different types of cuisine properly done at one restaurant.

Sawa's sushi bento box!!!

Sawa's sushi bento box!!!
I do understand Merrick Village overpriced menus due to location, but This Bento Box is ridiculous, it is the size of an ashtray, So small! It took me 2 sips to drink the misso soup, that came with a spoon same size as the mini bowl
No meat, no tempura, California roll as good as the one at the publix deli!!
I post a picture of it, see it, because I am still in disbelief!

This place is just awesome! I've been coming for years. They have a very accommodating menu they describe as a contemporary Mediterranean & Japanese dual-concept (ask staff to give you the backstory, it's quite interesting and fun) and I've been delighted by how well they execute both concepts. Their sushi rolls are always fresh, unique, and well rolled. There are so many choices for tapas so I can bring friends no matter what kind of diet they are on. Among my favorites are the lamb lollipops, the little yakitori skewars, and their Arabic spreads like the hummus and babaganough (which they make in house). The fried calamari is not your average boring fried calamari, they do it with crumbled blue cheese, sundried tomato, and a sweet chili dipping sauce. It's amazing. Entrees are great portion size and delicious. The seabass, the miso salmon, the kebabs, excellent. And they have an AWESOME bar menu. Chocolate-Nutella tini?? Um, YES! The Keylime Martini comes with a graham cracker crust! Delish! And the great thing is that they have happy hour every day of the week so when my budget is tight I go for HH and get most of the tapas and sushi for such low prices and everything is still served full portion. The patio dining is so gorgeous, definitely THE place for a date or relaxed evening with a comfortable but posh vibe. They keep the best staff and get rid of the ones that don't do them good. Ah, restaurant staffing, always a struggle, but a lot of the good servers have been there for years and always recognize and greet me like a friend. I really do love this place. I would highly recommend.

This was an awesome hybrid restaurant and experience! I love the original concept of Mediterranean-Asian fare! We went on a Friday night when they had a belly dancer, and sat outside while dining with a show.
We ordered from both cuisines and the food did not disappoint. The lamb was delish as were the sushi rolls. The mall where this restaurant is located is all open air and outdoors, a great place to walk around too.

Overall, the food was great! The service was okay but the food was great for a nice lunch thus meriting the 5 stars. The sushi and the pork dumplings were fresh and delicious. Would recommend!
