Nothing less than marvelous. The history and legacy that this single gigantic structure holds is really dumbfounding! And trust me, even the word goodnight didn't do justice to the grandeur of this architectural marvel! Definitely a must visit if you're traveling to Istanbul!

A must see in Istanbul. If you have the museum pass, you won't have to wait the queue. Amazing place to visit, it's huge. It was a pity that they were restoring part of the Dome, even though, we enjoyed a lot. Magnificent building in and outside

Haghia Sofia was a Greek orthodox Christian basilica, later a mosque when Constantinople was conquered by the ottoman empire, and now is a museum. It is famous for its massive dome and is said to have changed the history of architecture. It's one of the most visited attractions in Istanbul.
It is quite close to the blue mosque, if you have the energy, you can cover the blue mosque, haghia Sofia, topkapi Palace museum, and the grand bazaar in one day and in that order.

I've done quite a lot of travelling, and the Aya Sofia is the most exquisite, spellbinding building I have ever entered. I found it to be more beautiful than the Sultanahmet Mosque (Blue Mosque). It's definitely worth a visit. You even get access to the balcony area.

Beautiful ancient mosque, located in the heart of the old city. A must visit if you are in Istanbul first time. Avoid going in the morning, que could take up to an hour to get to the ticket office. Istanbul museum pass is valid to pass the long que, suggest going after lunch hours, would be less crowded. Massive structure, in my opinion outside looks more impressive than what see on the inside. Enjoy the views.

Impressive building with an amazing history. It was the largest dome in world for 1,000 years. Wow! It long served as both a church and mosque and, amazingly, art work from both survive. It is currently called a "museum" to indicate that it is a secular building now; rather than to suggest much in the way of curated exhibits. A good portion of the building is closed for renovation at the moment so it is hard to get a complete impression.

Amazing architecture and historical background. When visiting these places, must have a guide to bring you around then only you understand why and how it was built. I consider it one of the worlds' amazing man made treasure

A top site in Istanbul and well worth a visit. The interior is under renovation in a number of spots, so not at it's best at the moment. Definitely worth it to visit the tombs while here as well, which can be accessed for free from a separate entrance.

A very powerful place. So much history in it. I have no words to describe how amazed I was when I first saw it on the outside and inside. If you are a first timer in Istanbul this is a must see for you. With no doubt the most important place of the whole city.

Absolutely stunning. Tip: the line is LONG for tickets, so buy an Istanbul museum pass from the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Art (it s opposite the German Fountain/Blue Mosque). This gets you into Ayasofya, plus a bunch of other museums and sights, and there s usually no line. Also, go to Ayasofya after 5:30pm for less crowds.

Its remarkable and elegant historical building. Some of these historical building are being renovated so visitors cannot capture the whole building. Lighting in this building is very poor to take photograph unless you are using DSLR Camera. You need at least 3 hours to explore the building including watch documentary movie at the ground floor.
