If I could give ZERO stars that is what this "mental health " place would get. The employees are Rude and when you ask to speak to the Dr, they act like it's impossible, never get my refills on time.... It actually messed up my mental health worst by coming to these quacks.. oh and dr's aka Whiteside .. don't bother he will tell you to eat an apple .... When people have legitimate mental health needs do not come here, unless you truly believe "eating an apple " will help! Zerooooo stars, and the state literally needs to evaluate this place being mental health. It's a joke!
The women that work in the main office seem very bored. They re not friendly or approachable. These women are the first contact that the patients have with this facility and they just don t seem to care. Most of the patients are very nervous when they go in for their appointment and it wouldn t take much to smile and be pleasant. You can even hear the lack of respect they have for the patients when you have contact on the phone with them. It is almost impossible to get in contact with some of the doctors. My son has been going here for years. The best doctor he had retired quite a few years ago. She was very caring. I m very disappointed in the care he receives here. Everytime he mentions a symptom to the doctor, all they do is prescribe a new medication. I wish the all the staff here would go through NAMI training.
Seeing how they still employ mine and my brothers molester, I would give them 0 stars. Absolute disgrace on their part.
If I could give zero stars, I would. Dr. Desai has been awful. Nonresponsive. Lies. And solution to everything is just more meds. Go see anyone else.
If I could rate zero or minus I would..my child was a short term pt ,,I could not ever get ahold of the Dr. directly regardless of the importance. Her assistant hopefully would return my call in a few days just to lie to me also. It's very obvious they get paid by the head and arnt trying to help..they just make it so you have to keep coming back.
I really had high hopes for this facility. Its a nice place, your average multi million dollar building. But unfortunately, they left me high and dry.... and disappointed. I'm a man that makes right under 30 thousand a year. I'm barely getting by in this santa cruz area. Because I simply can't afford to go anywhere else, this place is my only hope. And yes, I do financially qualify to come here. This place claims to help anyone, rich or poor. It seems from the people they actually do help, more on the side of poor. Anyways, I call this place just having a few simple questions, and they respond to me as if I'm having a crisis. I simply had a question about their affiliation with Palo Alto medical group. And they ask me a whole series of questions. In a calming, hostage negotiator like voice. Anyways, they kept calling me back over and over. Leaving messages and so forth. (This happened December 2017). So I finally walk into the facility. First thing I notice, most patients in the waiting room are wearing sweat pants and army jackets. And they all have backpacks on them. Strange. So basically, long story short. After getting an interview, they tell me I do not qualify for their services. Which is very strange because I qualified in Utah (home town) with the very same diagnosis. In Utah, my county facility was very helping towards my mental conditions. But here in santa cruz, there must be a whole new meaning to what it is to be mentally incapable. It seems like the "non working" in santa cruz set the standard. Its obvious the homeless population has taken over. I actually currently work. And my tax dollars are funding this place. Yet i get a denial when I try to seek their help? Very strange. Someone seeking serious mental help can come here and end up getting denied, simply because they aren't homeless? I really dont get it. I understand there is alot of pressure for the drs to "weed out" the not as crazy people...but just because someone currently holds a job and pays taxes, doesn't automatically make them perfectly sane. So someone that makes $30,000 a year cant get the "free" help they qualify financially for? And they're expected to drop $700 for a monthly visit to a private doc who, may or may not, treat them? So if someone lives in a studio apartment, thats not homeless enough for them I guess. I am technically homeless, right? People who arent homeless will go untreated because they are afraid to face huge doctor bills. Its ironic because those huge mental health doc bills will eventually make those patients homeless! Then, once theyre homeless, they would then qualify for this facility (scbh) ! It's just crazy. I mean, mentally ill. Wow!
Stay the actual hell away from this place. Far, far away.

WOULDN'T TRUST THIS GUY to watch my goldfish. I was 100% honest with him and instead of being helpful NOW I DO NOT TRUST Psychologist again. Started out good, we are in a PANDEMIC, everyone is escalated right now. Then started to gently suggest on multiple occasions the use of drugs. After I had expressed I prefer the long haul of counseling and GUIDANCE. Another Psychologist with the Drug Companies SILVER bullet theory. DAN there is no silver bullet it doesn't take 12 years in college to know it is hard work and HONESTY that make a GOOD PERSON.
Id give them negative stars if I could. it's IMPOSSIBLE to get anyone intelligent on the phone and they guard the doctors like he's the President. I can't get refills on time and they make me want to kill myself due to their complete incompetence. They should leave the mental health business immediately as they are just making people crazier by their lack of integrity and inability to do the simplest of jobs.
