This resort is cut up into 3 sections. There are plenty of restaurants to pick from. Depending on taste you should be able to find something you like. The service is slow so plan on an hour or so for each meal. Just getting in the restaurants could take some time. If you want to get reservations into any of them I would suggest a butler room to help with that. Other than that you have to plan ahead. The portions are small so pick something from each course. Drinks vary by each bar so be patient when your at a crowded bar. Plan your days with the app and enjoy your vacation. Sandals has a great platform but could use some tweaking.

Oh Sandals ocho resort was really amazing. We spent two weeks there and it was much needed break! We basically went from having no holiday for two years to having two weeks of unashamed luxury! Bliss! The place was so beautiful, the staff was so lovely and really made us feel welcome. Am bummed we have to come home!

It's funny to read some of the negative reviews AFTER going to Sandals Ochi... I'm thinking maybe some people actually TRY to have a terrible time in absolute paradise. Is the pace slower there? YES! It's Jamaica! You're on vacation. Turn your phone off, quit answering emails, and ENJOY YOUR VACATION. The employees and people are AMAZING! (Shout out to Rosane, Chad and Javanda @ Ochi!) as well as the service and general attitude. Everyone you walk by will say hi immediately and usually "ya mon" to follow. Simply put, as the natives will tell you: There are no problems in Jamaica, just situations one day at a time. My wife and I LITERALLY miss the people there. Stay down on the beach and book the room with view, you WILL NOT regret it. Get concierge service (full-ish bar in your room, champagne in the fridge, etc) and don't forget to ask if you can pet "Angie", it's an experience! This is one spot NOT to miss. Also a very young crowd, high energy, so Ochi is probably more for the newlyweds and younger couples. Irie Mon!

Great honeymoon/couples retreat!

Great honeymoon/couples retreat!
The resort and grounds are absolutely beautiful! The majority of the staff is very friendly and helpful. We didn't realize until we arrived that there are two parts of the resort: beach-side and mountain-side. The nice part the bus called the Hop gives you a quick and easy ride to the other side. There are pools, restaurants and entertainment on both sides. We stayed on the mountainside in the Butler Village and we were very pleased with our villa and our butlers: Dacia and Richardo! Our villa was two stories and we had the bottom floor apartment to ourselves; it included a living room, small kitchen with a well stocked bar and fridge, decent size bedroom and bathroom. One of the few problems we had was not having any hot water in our shower when we arrived; unfortunately we had to mention this to our butlers and the staff several times before the problem was solved. The manager apologized for it being a problem and that it took a day to resolve it.
Dacia and Richardo were both lively, helpful and took great care of us! We would love to have them again if we return one day. It was so helpful to have them to guide us towards great dinner reservations and so forth. They also figured out very quickly our favorite snacks and drinks; they made sure to have some waiting for us each day.
All of the restaurants we visited were delicious! We ordered room service most days for breakfast and that was always wonderful as well. The late night room service left a lot to be desired but it was still an option when you're hungry.
The "play makers" were very friendly and if you were interested in playing sports or games with other guests they did a great job of including everyone and getting the crowd excited. At night the entertainment did not disappoint. They hosted "broadway" type shows, carnival night, and other events. The Speakeasy was also a unique spot we enjoyed visiting.
We enjoyed our visit to the spa but we had some trouble using the spa credit that we earned from booking through our travel agent. The spa was very nice and serine, they have several options but they are more pricey than what we are used to in the states.
There were several pools and multiple locations to hang out on the beach. There are quiet areas and there are areas to meet other people and provide more of a "party" atmosphere. There is also a club that plays current club type music and has a pool table. Other bars having different reputations, there is something for everyone!
We only took one excursion and it was the catamaran tour from the resort to snorkel and hike Dunn's River Falls. It was an amazing experience; from the staff on the boat to the falls tour guide. The snorkeling was pretty great for my first time; my husband said there are better places to go but it was nice to have the opportunity. The hike up Dunn's River Falls was beautiful and fun! The boat ride home included snacks and rum punch that was delicious! We met friends that went on other excursion they had a great time on. You can book them ahead of time (which we were able to do through our butler) or you can book them when you arrive at the resort.
The transportation to and from the resort to the airport was safe and the drivers were very friendly.
Although we had a couple of small hiccups our trip overall was amazing; we met some great friends and really enjoyed our butlers and the relaxation!

I'm staying at Sandals Ochi. The resort is decent. Don't expect much beach. It's strange they consider this a beach club. The renderings of the property are misleading and not even close to scale. That's why they use renderings and not real photos.

Understand that there are two sections to this resort. The rendering makes it look like one property. If you look closely, there is actually a busy road in the middle of the map that you can't cross on foot. If you stay on the wrong side of the road, you have to shuttle to and from the beach and restaurants.

Also this resort has an absurd amount of stairs. If you have trouble getting around, this isn't the resort for you. You will have to go down and up stairs over and over to get to the beach areas and the restaurants.

Stayed in the great house rooms. Had a great time! The hop bus made it easy to move around the resort. Pros: great food, great drinks, lots of places to relax and it never felt crowded. Cons: not a lot of beer selection (red stripe is great, but 1 or 2 other options would have been nice) and communication wasn't great. We were dropped off and kinda waiting awkwardly in the lobby while 3-4 different people said they were helping us. They ran out of ice at one of the bars for about 2 hours and couldn't figure out when more was coming, and they were often out of towels. Asking anyone about when things would be back, or where we could find more was often met by a, "find a playmaker" or "I'm not sure". Everyone was friendly, but it seemed like there was a lot of "not my job" mentality going on. Overall, we had an amazing time.

Sandals Ohi is a really beautiful location and one of the best things about JAMAICA. It s a fantastic wedding location and being a Marriage Officer, I was privileged to have performed approximately 100 wedding ceremonies at that location over the years.! In fact, last Sunday, I performed a Renewal of Vows Ceremony for one couple whose wedding ceremony was conducted by me in 2006. Great service and friendly staff. Check it out!

Like Chick fil A staff on steroids!!! Sooooo nice and accommodating!

Giving a 1 star review because we didn t actually ...

Giving a 1 star review because we didn t actually get to enjoy our vacation. My husband and I booked our vacation in July 2019, for June 2020, for our 10 year anniversary. We have been so excited, and even skipped a year of summer vacation with our 2 young children to have a week in paradise alone as a treat to ourselves. Unfortunately, Sandals decided to wait until it was SO close to the time of our trip to cancel (due to covid-19, so not our choice to cancel), that we could only receive a 50% refund. We are not in a position to forfeit $2000 and receive NO services!! Not to mention that IF we were to reschedule for next summer, we would be missing out on 2 years of vacation with our children. Sandals is corporate greed as it s finest. Taking advantage of people and making a worldwide pandemic very profitable for themselves. So disappointed.

Great experience, from check in to check out. Danielle at the front desk was on top of things. Jermaine and Janelle from guest Service took good care of us and great recommendation. Sheldon and Miguel took great care of us in the cabana. Never had to ask for a drink or food. Kerry Ann took great care of our room. Onisha gave us the great tour and great dancer. Dinah at the great house restaurant was on point. Julie at the front desk. Just awesome experience. Thank you everyone. We will be back.

This was our 1st visit to Jamaica & we got what we...

This was our 1st visit to Jamaica & we got what we thought was a good deal, flying business class from London on BA, staying in the Butler Village at Sandals Ochi, which promotes itself as a couples only resort. Viewing the photos & reading the description on their website persuaded us that we had made an excellent choice.
The BA flight was an hour late in leaving London so we arrived in Jamaica, at 16.30 instead of 15.30. We were shepherded to the Sandals office where we were kept waiting for almost 30 minutes. 12 of us & our associated luggage were then crammed onto a way-to-small minibus for the transfer to Sandals Ochi - a far cry from the comfortable spacious seating promised on their website. The transfer took over three hours, as against the stated 90 minutes.
On arrival, we were ushered into the Butler Premium Lounge & kept waiting for another 30 minutes. Approaching 9.00pm, we were eventually taken to our room by our butler. The butler then spent 15 minutes extolling the virtues of the resort & trying to sell us excursions & Spa treatments. There was a bottle of sparkling wine in the room, certainly not champagne as promised; & no sight of any Bombay Sapphire which we had specified in the pre arrival pack.
The butler disappeared after advising us that our cases would follow. They did. About 45 minutes later by which time we had been travelling for approximately 18 hours & we were too tired to bother with a restaurant. A wasted first evening.
Day 2, & after a very pleasant breakfast, we headed for the beach. It is not obvious from the website but Sandals Ochi is spread over two sites. One site is adjacent to the beach. The other, where all the butler style accommodation is located (& known as the Hillside), is on the other side of Ochi s High Street. Sandals run a shuttle bus every 10 minutes to get from the Hillside to the beach. Now Jamaica is known for its sunshine so, on arriving at the beach, we were somewhat puzzled at the total lack of shade. There were NO parasols or umbrellas. We, like many no doubt, were fooled by the photos of the beaches on the Sandals website where a few mattress covered sunbeds are sparsely spread around the beaches. In reality the sunbeds have no mattresses & are packed tightly together. Furthermore there was loud music coming from the Beach Club. So we sought out another beach. The same packed sunbeds although the loud music at the 2nd beach was coming from the beach bar. On to the 3rd & final beach &, heaven, lacked the pounding music of the other 2 beaches. That is, until the hotel s catamaran returned mid-afternoon, music blaring for 20 odd minutes whilst those on board continued with their revelries. Sandals promotes itself as a couples resort NOT as an 18-25 club & I go on a beach holiday for rest, relaxation, peace & quiet.
The swimming pools were just the same. Music blaring away from 9.00am until sunset.
- On Monday evening we went to the Gourmand restaurant where the waiter asked if we would like a pre-dinner cocktail. We both asked for gin & tonics. My wife s was too strong so she asked the waiter to get some more tonic. He arrived with a glass of liquid which he poured into my wife s G&T. When my wife took a sip she almost spat it out. The waiter had poured in a double measure of gin!
- The Bombay Sapphire we requested in the Butler Preferences Form duly arrived on the 3rd day of our stay. Some service.
- The House Champagne was another Sandals myth. In reality it was Vin Mousseux.
- As part of the butler service, Sandals promises to replenish the mini bar on a daily basis. That certainly was not our experience. Every evening, on returning from the beach, we had to telephone the butler for one drink or another to be replenished.
All in all an experience that was nowhere near our expectations. If Sandals wishes to garner the custom of couples outside the 18-30 age bracket, they need to do a lot more. & they need to update their website photos to reflect the true nature of the resort.

Beach is beautiful. Paddleboarding and catamaran were fun. Food was 2-3 stars at best. Resort on beach side is older and has not been well maintained. It's a shame that they charge nearly $1000/night per couple and only pay resort workers approx. $80/week. On top of that, guests are not permitted to tip resort employees for any reason. If I return to Jamiaca, I would want to explore the local culture more and not be confined to an all inclusive the whole time. We met some wonderful locals who worked at the resort and were the highlight of our trip.

Very friendly staff. They are clearly trying to make your experience wonderful. They go out of their way to be helpful and kind. The issues with this hotel are in the infrastructure. It's bad. If this was my honeymoon I would have cried. Especially for the rates you pay.
1- we stayed in building 4. The first 2 days the fire alarm kept going off. This included 3 am.
2- the rooms need maintenance
A- there are dirt/blood/food spots on
The lamp shades
B- the walls have mildew on them in the INTERIOR of the room
C- the black out curtains are dirty. They have spills and stains on them.

The sheets, bathroom, and floors were clean. The refrigerator was stocked and the maids were nice.

3- lack of tipping and huge resorts with guests with a lot of needs make calls for extra things like pillows and coffee mugs take 60 minutes to get.

4- food was ok. The staff again was friendly Yet the food was alway disappointment. The exception is breakfast at the sky terrace. It's a buffet and their food was good. We are at the sushi restaurant, sky bar for dinner (not good), tapas for lunch- nope. Actually the restaurant over the water had good chicken.
Also the buffet they had the night we came on the beach had amazing jerk chicken and pork. That set up isn't always there. We liked that though. This is coming from someone who will eat almost anything. Food is in line with a 3 star resort.

5- can't get room service unless you pay for a butler.

6- wifi is 'free' but bad unless you pay the upgrade

7- beaches are kept clean but they are enclosed and VERY VERY SMALL. I loved swimming in the water. We are here in off season but in full swing this place is way to small to enjoy quality beach time.

So, I have struggled with this. Sandals serves and important service to the country. The staff could not be kinder. These people don't have a lot materially, but they work hard and go out of their way to be kind. Haven't ever stayed where people are so nice. The Sandals corp needs to spend a few million dollars to fix the rooms and replace the dirty and broken items in the rooms and update their menus.
The lobbies are well cared for.

AMAZING! Anyone planning to visit I assure you the butler service is money well spent. The service allows you to enjoy your vacation on another level. The resort was great, the offsite excursions were super exciting, Superbowl Sunday on the beach was , the weather was gorgeous, the resort staff are the most kindhearted you will ever meet. Feel free to treat yourself. The worst of the entire vacation was having to come home

My wife and I experienced the most incredible time at Sandals Ochi. Customer Service team was awesome. Due to our flight we arrived before rooms were ready. We were tired and ready to relax. The staff held our stuff while we kicked it by the pool. This resort has everything you need on site. We went in October and weather was perfect and there were so many pools to choose from, so many restuarants to eat in, and tons of activities.

We spent a long weekend at Sandals Grande Ocho Rios back in 2009. We enjoyed our stay and especially a candlelight dinner on the pier. The resort was a great place to relax and stroll the grounds. A fully stocked bar in our room also helped to keep us in good spirits. One of us paid a visit to the spa and had the massage of their life.

Room

Room
The rooms were extremely cold. Even when trying to adjust the thermostat it still remained cold.

Wife didn't really like not having a box spring. Bed was okay but just kind of threw us off a bit.

After a 3 hour drive from Montego Bay my wife just wanted to take a shower. The diverter was broken so the shower did not work. They fixed it while we grabbed a bite to eat but it was frustrating to say the least after how long it took to get to the resort.

Roaches
On two occasions we experienced a roach. Once on our way out of the room heading to dinner. The roach was fighting for dear life on its back. Told the housekeeper. The second occasion was the morning we were checking out. My wife was brushing her teeth and saw a baby roach. Disgusting.

Tom and Jerry
While eating on two occasions outside we experienced multiple cats running around under our feet looking for food. The second night we experienced it a ignorant guest thought it was appropriate to feed the cats from her dinner table. From there the cats found a mouse in the grass. My wife jumped and alerted me when she saw the mouse hanging from the cats mouth. Needless to say we got up and went to our room.

Subpar Customer Service
We ate at the same restaurant twice. The first night the experience was beautiful (Tanisha from Manor Restaurant). The second night was the night of the "Tom and Jerry" incident. When we got our water it was very murky. My wife brought it to the attention of the waiter and she kind of laughed it off like it wasn't a big deal.

We wanted to leave something for the couple that was getting married. I took it to the desk so that they could make sure the couple checking in got it. I was told the concierge desk was closed and he advised me to come back when they were available. As a former Marriott manager that is unacceptable. Even if HE had to get it to them why was I being turned down for something so elementary that is done in hotels all across the world. A simple task.

Upon checkout we were asked about our experience. Once we told them we weren't happy it was suggested that we email management and let them know about our experience. I emailed the Operations Manager about our stay on December 18, 2019 and STILL have not heard back from him.

We will never stay at a Sandals property as it stands again. We were not impressed. With the amount of money you spend for all inclusive it was NOT worth it. We would not run the risk of having a similar experience after paying $3000. I can plan my own trip and spend less and have more control.

We had an awesome time here for our honeymoon. We stayed in one of the villas up on the hill and enjoyed the private feeling from that, but we also enjoyed all of the resort down by the beach. The food was very good for the most part and all of the staff was extremely friendly and made us feel like we were right at home. I hope we get to go back sometime soon.

Ochi is beautiful and the food and drink was great and plentiful. However, the butler service was not as expected. My one thing I looked forward to the most was to dine at Kimonos but our butler could not get us reservations the whole time we were there. We had a room up at the end of the resort and had to walk often instead of waiting for the butler to arrive. We had a super awesome couples massage but after they closed us in a room and lectured us about our weight and how to eat right then tried to sell us oils and muscle cream. It was quite insulting and ruined the relaxed calm of the massage. Dont pay extra for butler service and dont let them corner you after the massage.

Rooms are clean and housekeeping is awesome. Room service is pretty fast. We are hillside though and unfortunately it's really difficult catching a golf cart to bring you up multiple times I had to walk up the hill in heels. Also when we called for a golf cart ((e have called 3 times now) twice we waited 20 minutes that no one showed so we walked down ourselves. Also the hop stopped early one night (( we were beachside and it said it stopped running at midnight. We waited from 1125 until 1205 before walking across the property to the all night pickup)) food is ok. Drinks are great. Most of the staff is very friendly and happy to answer questions or strike up conversation. Would definitely recommend!

It's OK. Decent food and the staff are super friendly. However having the resort split in two parts across a busy road is awful. And the buses to shuttle you from one to the other are old, dirty with ripped seats and an embarrassment to the resort. Little to no beach either. Frankly overpriced and likely wouldn't go back. A big positive was my experience with the medical staff - friendly and professional.

We had a great experience. I highly recommend the Butler Village. Everything was clean and well kept. Our villa pool needed a little updating with chairs and the decking but the pool was very clean. This hotel is amazing. We loved everything about it. The rooms are great and clean (we had the butler room) and they come multiple times during the day/ night to clean and makes the bed. The food at the restaurants was all very delicious. The Christmas decor was beautiful the staff all so much friendly it almost felt like we were friends since years ago. There s activities days in day out (pool activities, night events etc...) lots of different type of restaurants and the butler service is impeccable (they made our stay that much more romantic as well). We absolutely loved this place. The only thing that we found that was lacking is the night life... what I mean by that is that yes every night there s was something going on between 8:30pm and 10pm however we would have love if they had a beach club or night club with Jamaican music every night instead of just an even with only a 30 min dancing or their night club was different music each night (example: disco night or hip hop night etc...) we would have love to hear and dance the night always with their music and learn more about their culture. Overall, great place, good entertainment, great clean beach, great water activities included, great vacation. We can t wait to go back there again.

My husband and I visited Sandals Ochi July 30-Aug ...

My husband and I visited Sandals Ochi July 30-Aug 5 for our 1 year anniversary. We originally were scheduled to depart Aug 3, but before we arrived, we extended our stay 2 nights. And we are so glad that we did! We both have very busy lives and this was the perfect mix of relaxation AND entertainment and so much spirit of love in the atmosphere. Upon entering the resort, being greeted with a cold rag and served with a cool rum beverage was just enough to get our minds and bodies in the islandlife mood. 7 days, 6 nights and the best hospitality we have ever received. Thank you Jamaica!

So that it does not go unnoticed, I want to start this with our Thank Yous to those that stood out. Everyone I worked with via the Sandals chat option helped select the perfect surprise anniversary trip for my husband, working within my budget, making selections, and attentive to the type of vacation we dreamed of. Tenelle (sp) in the Concierge office welcomed us with open arms and we genuinely felt like she was our friend the moment we met her, wanting to even stop by to say goodbye. Lawri (sp) in the Concierge office, best orientation and orientation guide ever! Shanice, housekeeping for keeping our room spelling good and clean and for the sweet little notes and towel animals. Jerene, our fabulous candlelight dinner server, so sweet and punctual and kept us updated on our courses throughout the meal. Dakashi (sp) our candlelight dinner photographer, just a great sport all around. Fun and uplifiting. Some pictures even better than our wedding pictures. And Marlan, server and Matrei 'd, made room for us when we were late for our reservation at one restaurant and then another restaurant on a separate night, moved our food order along when our server was preoccupied. There were so many more throughout our stay, but these are the people that stood out the most. Thank you for making our 1st anniversary so special

IMPORTANT

- Ask if your preferred room is Hillside or Beachside. If Beach side facing the beach or the garden.
- Bring cash for the arrival and departure tips for bag handling and airport transportation and other local craft vendors on the resort that may not take card.
- Club Mobay, at least on your departure. We did not do this, and it was a bit of a downer after such a wonderful stay. It would have made things way more smooth and worth the money. You can purchase it through Sandals or other vendors like Costco.
- Get Club Level or Butler level. We did Club and the concierges helped make all of our reservations for us.
- We loved this location, but being that it was far from the airport and we had a layover flight, it made for a long travel day. In our situation, we would have stayed near the airport at a different sandals the night before.
- Ask the attire for the restaurants and nightly events. (We showed up in black to the white chocolate party, the all white party!)
If you are planning an event at the resort (wedding or family reunion), there are multiple locations on the property to do that. However, not only do you want to find out what activities will be occurring NEAR the event but also what time. For example, there was a pool party with a DJ right next to where a wedding reception was going on with a live steel pan band AND trying to give speeches (and vows) over the techno music.

DON'T

- Smoke outside the recreation areas. ANYTHING. Even though marijuana is legal in the country, it is NOT okay in the non-smoking areas.

NOTE TO SANDALS STAFF

- There are chairs inside and on the balcony that have plastic or metal legs and feet and create the sound of nails on a chalk board. We had some early risers near our room and that sound is not what we call a smooth awakening. Please put some rubber or felt coverings on the bottom of the chairs to minimize this noise.

- I don't need central A/C everywhere, but more fans in the common areas would be nice. We wanted to play pool but it was very hot and humid and no air circulating. Fans would make it more pleasureable.
