San Diego Public Defender Reviews

Absolutely horrible!.
If you have to use a public pretender in the city of San Diego u must question everything and fight yourself for your freedom.Do not leave it up to these unprofessional,over payed, incompetent, lazy ,and they have no respect for you or your freedom.
I've personally used them in the late 90s as a mistake.
Do your own research ask questions and never take anything they say to determine your future in these people's hands.

All the want is you to plead guilty and do the job for them .
Some get paid over $100,000.00 ayear to fight for you but they don't.
Remember they. Are supposed to work for you ,technically out taxes pay them so they are working for you so stay on top of your stuff.

If I could give them less I would...they are unhelpful and definitely work with the DA...they don't work for you not do they try to..they take advantage of the poor to keep the jails full to keep there pockets full...the last thing they care about is YOU..or your case...can't contact them by phone or email...show up in court with nothing and no help...where is the justice...so much for a fair case...

Kahiliio Reem is great and very intelligent. She actually cares about the cases assigned to her and communicates forthwith with her clients. I used think negative things about their office but now it s safe to say that has changed and thanks to KR I can trust them again.

There was only one who actually helped me. The rest really don't care about helping at all, it's not their problem they're paid either way.

I have read some of the reviews here and I have to agree. The public defenders office is a joke. In jail they are called the "Public Pretenders Office"

I went to court on a felony. 55 years old and was never in trouble. I took responsibility for my action and was just trying to get a fair deal out of the court. I called my Defender for 2 weeks and emailed her as well. NADA. THEN she expected to discuss the case in the hallway outside of the courtroom a few minutes before the case was called! I told her it was a weak charge and to tey to get it reduced to a misdemeanor. All she would say was we cant, they wont, it's not possible. I asked for multiple continuance to bone up on the law and presented my case through a letter to the judge and was able to get it reduced to a misdemeanor. When we walked out my "public pretender" was excited that "we" got it reduced.....HA!... I, ME, MYSELF... got it reduced. It seems like the public defender and the DAs office meet up and predetermined which case are going to hammer and which to let slide. It truly feels that way.

If you get Denis Antonio Lainez # 234171 you might as well hang yourself, the worst ever ,these people are not defending the public! Something should be done about this corrupted office . He lied and did nothing to help. Very very disappointed how my tax money goes to people that do nothing but lye to you!

Only the most incompetent and ignorant become public defenders, fire them and hire a real attorney, it will be cheaper in the long run, that's what I did after a wk of being lied to by someone who couldn't keep an appointment or come close to doing their job much less acting like a professional or even an adult

I called looking for assistance and the lady that picked up was rude,and was no help and hung up on me today is the 11/10/2015 and it is 12:50 pm.there soppose to help and that person didnt.

Awful they don't fight for u and will let u fall on charges u didn't commit. They are all district attorney's in disguise. Terrible
