Theyre website does not disclose all the extra fees there are, and when they charge for those fees they do so without telling you, very moderate hotel nothing extraordinary so it s ridiculous that what we planned to be a $200 weekend ended up being $400
Marriott Del Mar is currently doing some renovations but even during this process, it's business as usual.
Excellent attention by the reception. Miss Cristy (I do not remember her last name) cares for the guests. The Italian Bianca that is in the 11th. Floor and is in consierge is the most attentive. Very clean and very good food in the restaurant. The waiters very attentive and a boy who is the son of a German I give him a 10. In itself, I recommend it and will return.
Nice hotel with a good size pool. I really like the cabana's that are setup alongside the pool. The Jacuzzi is also large enough to sit 10 or so adults.
I stayed here for a business trip and enjoyed it. The rooms are nice and the staff is very friendly and helpful. There is a bit of noise in the rooms, but not horrible. I would recommend.
San Diego Marriott Del Mar has the best service in town!!!! Their staff is phenomenal!!!! Its a very nice hotel close to everything. Could not have ask for a better experience!
Nice, modern hotel with updated fixtures/rooms. Loved our double queen room on the 11th floor. Exceptional customer service. Chelsea went above and beyond to make sure that my family's stay was comfortable. Will absolutely come back again next time we're in town.
Had my wife's 40th birthday celebration there and had a blast!! Elaine Cordova at the VIP check in desk was amazing as she seamlessly upgraded us to a bigger room to accommodate our party! Great times and great service!!!
This hotel has horrible service. Absolutely embarrassing. First I booked through the Marriott reservation portal and the only option was to prepay for your stay. Ordinarily, when I am certain about my trip, I don t mind. However, somehow between the booking site and the hotel they erroneously booked my trip for two extra nights. And, having to prepay, I was then charged for the additional two nights. The Marriott services can t refund for the nights, only the hotel can. When I arrived at the hotel, nobody knew how to refund my overcharged nights. Upon arrival, my room was not ready (which is fine because I knew I was early) but I was assured housekeeping would prioritize my room. I went to have a sandwich in the restaurant in the lobby to wait for their call. The lobster roll, by the way, is pretty good. After 3 hours and 20 minutes, I went back to the desk to ask if I could get an ETA on my room. Apparently, housekeeping hadn t even begun to clean the room. They asked me to wait another 25 minutes, while housekeeping finished my room. I eventually got a room, but I am extremely disappointed. I do have status so, admittedly, I am spoiled with better than average service, but I would have received better service at the old run-down hotel next door and it would be cheaper.
We were celebrating our 4 year anniversary and they upgraded our room! Room had a great size
Excellent staff. Fabulous pool. Beds could be softer.
Horrible horrible horrible experience . Toilet got clogged and had air conditioning issue. Finally our room got flooded with water at 10pm . Staffs and manager kept us waiting for over an hour and half- So Rude!!!!! . The room has serious issue and i can not understand why giving it out to customers. Never going back again.
Very nice hotel! Was there for a company Christmas party and service on all ends was great! I would definitely go back!
Always a pleasure to stay here. Close to everything. Valets are the best.
I was there for a TD Amera Trade event. Did not stay at the hotel. Their staff was friendly.
Beds were extreamly uncomfortable and the hot tub was luke warm but, the staff was friendly.
I was at the Marriott Del Mar for a software event. The hotel parking was simple, and the facilities were clean and preventable.
Absolutely love this place! Amazing, helpful, kind staff! Never stayed anywhere before where the people were so eager to assist and remember my name after each visit. Rooms are always clean and other facilities are great!
Love Alterra. Has great drinks and social vibe. Did not stay at the hotel but attended an event and this was one of many. Highly suggest stating here for leisure or for business functions.
Met a friend at the restaurant bar. Service was slow, wait staff seemed to be missing any kind of distinguishing uniform. Drinks were poured well. Staff was kind.
I booked my stay through priceline with this hotel, but, modesty aside,i have time share and i actually have several bookings using my time share with residence inn by marriott, when i check in,maybe its my imagination, but its not pleasant or accomodating...but when i change room today, the lady in the counter was really nice and friendly, she was the one who also helped me when i bought some bottled water...customer service is not consistent, some are mean others are nice. The room is fine nothing amazing, every week i stay in a hotel and radisson even provide with free bottled water, just saying....Marriott sounds so high end but im not sure about the service even the room amenities.Dont judge the book by its cover...
Need better smoking area for guests. Otherwise hotel is awesome!
Great hotel, great location and amazing service. The rooms very clean and hotel was following the protocol properly, everyone at the hotel were wearing masks at all times.
All the staff was above average! Rooms were comfy & clean as well
Most of the reviews I have read cannot possibly be from customers. They still charge for wi-fi. The pictures make it look newer and much nicer than reality. There is a beautiful view of I-5, if busy Interstates are your thing. Everything is an added charge, including $20 for parking. I would not have stayed here, after seeing how different it was from the pictures on the Marriott web site, but they would not allow me to cancel my reservation. It would be comfortable for a short business stay, but at the price advertised, I would choose somewhere else.
Spacious rooms, extremely nice balcony. The staff is friendly and courteous, the central location is perfect!
Marriott...perfect in and out...tooms are perfect for a quick trip...
Clean rooms everything felt fresh, parking was easy and a short walk to the hotel from the parking structure 5*
Short drive from airport. Convenient for meetings and business get togethers. Restaurant needs to stay open later (or room service) for we late arrivals from the East Coast. Cause for low rating was lack of space in Consierge Lounge - had to go to regular restaurant for breakfast as they were no seats upstairs.
Very nice hotel highly recomended will come back again
Enjoyed a very freshly prepared lunch offered with great service. We will be back!!
The upgraded rooms are very very nice. There still some construction going on and that's a little distracting. The restaurant is unpleasant in the meantime.
Went to Alteration restaurant for breakfast. The place is quite and pleasant. The food is fresh and delicious. The service is courteous and fast.
As of today, the hotel is heavily under construction... Lots of noise and horrible odors. Stay at your own risk! Restaurant, however, was excellent.
Went to the restaurant/bar Arterra. Was loud and not enough waitresses. Food was good but just very loud, unable to talk to friends, had to yell.
Friendly staff, clean Hotel. No complaints on my end
We got to stay in the newly remodeled rooms they are very nice and spacious. Front desk was very nice. I was able to get it for$89 which is a great price for how nice the room is. There is a $20 parking fee.
Room was clean. Bathroom stocked. Pool was unfortunately closed by the time we checked in. Self parking was easy.
I was so disappointed with our stay here. We came during the pandemic and the room prices were so extremely high. Let's take room prices out of the equation, this rating is for hotel safety during the pandemic.
I was already overly cautious about traveling and wanted to stay in a hotel that was doing all they could to take precautions for guest and staff safety. I noticed that the front desk did not really enforce folks to keep their mask properly on when we checked in.
We got to our room, which was supposed to be thoroughly cleaned before arriving, and noticed there was still trash from the previous guest in the room! For the pandemic, that is unacceptable. They promised that the rooms are thoroughly cleaned but that cannot be the case if there are still drink containers in the room from the prior guests.
We decided to go buy some clorox and lysol and clean down the new room that they put us in.
Some guests didn't abide by the elevator rules and hopped in with us, making us have to get out and wait for an elevator. I get that they cannot control the guests but it seemed like they didn't have great options for ppl trying to get around safely.
The accommodations and staff were impeccable. The bed was very hard and uncomfortable. Woke with a very sore back.
It is a pretty hotel, but the hotel staff was a little aloof. No welcome or asking to help.
Undergoing a refit. The rooms are excellent - quiet and efficient a/c and well appointed. Service excellent, just lacking a classy restaurant at the moment
Excellent service, wonderful clean rooms, comfortable beds!
Nice, clean rooms but slow internet, awful tv/cable with a cumbersome guide and very slow to change channels. House keeping kept getting mixed up and thinking I'd checked out when I hadn't and still would be there multiple days, throwing away food if bought and kept in the fridge, etc. Seems a bit disorganized.
Horrible customer service and there was no hot water. My daughter and I stayed here two nights. We arrived at about 11pm on a Thursday night after driving for seven hours. There were no guests in the lobby. I walked up to the woman at the front desk. She had no smile and an irritated look on her face. I shared with her that this was our first time out here. It was a last minute trip we had to take. I asked her a couple questions on recommendations on restaurants or some fun places to visit and that we didn't mind driving a little ways. She replied that she didn't really know and to look on the internet. I'm thinking, Duh! I already did that. I was just hoping that the hotel or a local person might have suggestions. I then told her I was a AAA member and a Marriott Reward member. She asked for my number. I told her I didn't have it on me. I asked if she could look it up? She replied, "When you find it, I'll enter it." Then on Saturday morning there was no hot water. I called down to the front desk and they said a boiler was out and they were waiting on a repairman and they didn't know how long it would be. We had an event to get to and my daughter was starving. We waited as long as we could. We ended up taking a shockingly FREEZING showers.
This is a great hotel. Similar to most Marriotts, the rooms are clean and the staff is kind and professional. The rooms are also modern and look like they've been recently updated which is nice. The restaurant has great food for a restaurant bar. We tried the crabcake and peppers appetizers and I would recommend both. I also had salmon for my entre. It was wild caught with skin which is my favorite! The location is nice as well. Was walking distance to my work meetings and running distance from Torrey Pines and a few other restaurants.
Not bad. Rooms need a refresher reno for the price. Expensive to park.
Great location and amenities. Affordable for what it is.
I checked in an hour ago and I should say It was quite disappointing. Middle aged white lady in the front desk did not provide me any information I need except for my room number. Check-out time, Wifi password, location and operation time of swimming pool.. she let me know none of these. I had to read through the guest service directory book in the room to get those info. I bet front desk service quality here is not at all better than just plain motels.
Marriott Del Mar is currently doing some renovations but even during this process, it's business as usual.
The hotel is under construction so it was kinda messy and no real front desk. The room was clean and nice but if you care about the view of the hotel, this place is not a good option for you. I had to pay 10$ for WiFi and 20$ for parking DAILY. You would think a 4 star hotel would have that covered for you. Unfortunately I don t recommend this place.
