I love my job, Saber is as good as any other company that has owned our facility. I would like to make a little more. Money. They just remodeled our building, it is very nice. More modern looking. I work in activities. Working at Mt City is like any other job, you have to be willing to work and follow the rules and regulations. Long term healthcare is different in that it is more regulated because we take care of people.
It's a great group and the people of the healthcare are very cooperative and hospitality. Even in out of station such like in Berhampur thier service are very well..
I was a nurse for saber healthcare for a very short while. 8 months was to long to stay at a facility where the DON has favorites and all the while the good staff get over looked and even scorned for small things not done. I have been a nurse 13 yrs and i have never worked in an unorganized unprofessional place in all my career as saber. The facility i was employed at was long term residents that were "with it" for the most part and then the younger generation started becoming patients and would talk to the elderly about their drug addictions and how often they would use drugs. I would never want my elderly loved one around that. As nursing staff its our job to keep our res safe. Not put them in harms way! I wouldnt recommend saber to anyone. Ever!
My mother in law was in Wilmington Healrh Care Center for about 9 months. Our family had spoke with staff on several occasions that no facility is going to be perfect. However, we cannot say enough about how we were treated at the facility and how wonderful the Administor Brian is. Our family was there continually and this allowed us to get to know the staff. Staff were always willing to go above and beyond. There will be times at any business that has a period where they might be short staffed, but this is something that is going to happen. Working in a nursing facility takes special people, not everyone is cut out for this type of work. When your loved one is being taken care of, because you can no longer do it at home, and someone is there when you re not able to be and they hug them, kiss them on the cheek and tell them they love them it helps ease the guilt you feel. Thank you to Brian and all of his staff.
My father is in Ambler Extended Care and the team there is doing a fine job of taking care of him. They genuinely seem to care about his well-being and progress and have communicated very well with us about his treatment plan.
Saber is an absolutely horrible group of facilities. I had to file 3 complaints with the state in regards to the facility in Seven Hills & not once did their director meet with us to address our complaints. My father was a very acute patient with intense wound care needs & this facility cannot care for acute patients. We have also now been waiting on a refund from Saber corporate office for over 30 days of close to $10,000 owed to us after moving my father. I've threatened legal action and still nothing. Saber looks at your loved ones like they are cash cows not humans & they do not care. Lakesha in financial services & the LPN Megan were the only amazing employees at the Seven Hills facility at all.
Don't work for Saber! They ruined our local nursing home. I work there 10 years before they bought it. I lasted 11months after. Smh this company is full of lairs and don't care about people just money!!!
My mother was just released from rehab at bath care eatates. They said that she was good to come home...that her eating and physical movement had improved to the point she could return home (albeit 24/7 care, still). Well she wasnt ready...1 day home and she is already back in her old ways. Plus there are many other things i have to gripe about, but dont have the time. DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONE HERE!!!!!!!!!!! The effort given is minimal and the aide staff, with the exception of 3, are rough and mean to the more elderly residents.
Autumn Care in Marshville North Carolina is run by a staff FULL of liars and cheats. They have a doctor on payroll that is NEVER on duty, named Gary Henry. My Mother was a client there for 2 months, and NO doctor visited her what-so-ever. They lied to us on arrival, by telling us that she could stay as long as she wants. Mother has Medicare and 3 other medical coverage. The Physician's Assistant was doing the job of a Medical Doctor. I am BLOWING the whistle to Channel 9 Eyewitness News.
Very pleasant staff at Dockside. Everyone looked happy.
Rodger the DON at Autumn Care of Chesapeake is nasty and rude! He don't know how to talk to people, he is a liar.
This company has been calling me every day for months now. It is harassment and it needs to stop. I have nothing to do with this business. When I call them back from my caller ID, no one answers. I am on the do not call list. Stop calling me. I have tried to email them and it always comes up, page not working. Sham business.
My family had to make a challenging decision last year and place my grandparents in one of their homes, Bath Manor, to be specific. The experience has been wonderful and after what seemed like a struggle, something we are so happy with. The staff--administrators, nurses, and all others there, are amazing and caring and my grandparents seem happier than before. Lots of TLC and activities and the food is excellent. Kudos to Saber for all they do and taking care of their people.
Hi my name is Valerie right I work at one of the facilities at saber and I just wanted to say that there is not a lot of good things to say about saber from the people that have come and gone far as people that have worked for saber me myself I've been there one year and it's been hard because you have other stnas that's been there 4 years and what Saber don't know that's going on is that the ones that been there the longest tends to feel like they can up sage you're out rink or tell new STNA's how to get on to get off and they tend to like to push their buttons and they do get away with it because number one we don't have some nurses that are real nurses that would do their job to stand up for those that want to make your facility run accordingly and when you need someone to come in no one wants to come in because when you come in you getting bullied your whole shift and a lot of time the nurses know it and will not say nothing but then they look to the Don to make it happen but then the nurses wonder why they are short when they don't treat the staff accordingly number one they are knocked our friend to be cordial that's fine but do your job you have some people that would do things to your room that you are assigned to to make you look bad as if you do not do your job and I am asking corporate to steppin and help the new stna and myself that have to fight every day just to survive in a facility when you should come in feeling good but you don't know what to expect when you coming in to work but saber can run smooth once they clean house and just listen to what some of the new people have to say but at the same time as new people not all but some some act like they still in high school they got to run behind somebody instead of know their own mind and judge for themselves and that's a ticking time bomb to have at a facility a person that can't think for themselves but overall we have the equipment we just need good running staff of people that can come in and do their job to make it be successful instead of having the scores that you have as STNA's coming into your facility I've been doing this for 11 to 12 years worked in a hospital done it all there is nothing I can't do but me personally I can't stand a bully and I refuse to be bullied on and let somebody mistreat me so there for me standing up for myself I'm not liked very much because they can't push me like they may have pushed others oh yeah by the way we need a new union manager if you need to know why come see me come talk to me my name is Valerie right I work for a Hudson Elms.
Props to hillsville health and rehab. They are doing great with what they have. I know they have been a new addition but seem to do great. Thanks for the care provided to dad. Cna nurses, unit manager and all of the clinical team.
Horrible place to have your loved one in ! They work short staffed all the time , don't care about the residents at all . I wouldn't put my dog in one of their facilities!! Horrible management , don't care about staff or residents just care about making money off anyone they can get in their facilities! The facility I worked at for 2 1/2 yrs went through 4 DONs and 4 administration! Horrible place and horrible management! They fire all the staff that actually care about the residents and keep the ones who don't do anything. They mixed young drug addicts with older adults and with psych all 3 combined in one facility . They have residents who beat up staff and other residents and allow them to live there! Just horrible company
This facility presents very well initially. Staff friendly and helpful at first. Then try to reach one after your loved one has been admitted! Nursing staff excluded. Management will not call back. Phones are often unattended and voicemail rarely works for a return phone call. Front door desk at times left unattended. Anyone can walk in or out as my mom did.
Be sure to label and take pictures of everything you bring to decorate your loved ones room. It grows legs and walks away! Staff apparently have no system in place to periodically check other residents rooms for odd/different things showing up if it is they who take things. I should have done this myself, but was having a difficult time trying to get my mother to stay. Needless to say there should be a system in place to deter theft. I can t recommend this place when theft is allowed and management staff is not professional enough to return phone calls! I should have read all of the reviews warning about uncaring Saber Healthcare Group staff.
Makes you sign an agreement where if you don't work out your two week notice then the previous week you worked you're only paid at minimum wage as a NURSE. Also their healthcare sucks - If you're single it's $260.00 a month, and for family coverage it's about $600.00 a month for 80/20 with very high deductibles, They try to cut corners at EVERY turn - run from this place. Work you like a dog, wont call in agency at all costs! RUN!
Amy Johnson, The Director of Nursing at Centerburg Pointe, who is also on the Board, refuses to wear a mask to any public event. Her husband and her kids also refuse to comply with the mask order. She even has her parents come in from Kentucky to attend the school events and they refuse to wear masks. This is irresponsible and unacceptable behavior for someone who is supposed to protect the residents of Centerburg Pointe. Nursing Homes are Breeding Grounds for Covid and her complete lack of respect for anyone other than herself is unprofessional, irresponsible, selfish and infuriating. The fact that she and her husband have been doing this throughout the entire Pandemic but nothing has been done, not only says a lot about her, but says a lot about the business itself.
This review is for the Chatham, Virginia Saber Healthcare Center. My dad has been a resident at two Saber Healthcare centers. The first 8 months he was at the first one they gave him great care but then began having several staffing changes and that is when everything changed for the worse. My dad has severe congestive heart failure and began gaining 1, 2, 3 pounds a day which was fluid. I called the nurse and was told they would contact their doctor. I waited two days and he continued to gain weight so I called again and was told the same thing. Two more days passed and he continued to gain weight and I called and requested the director of nursing to call me, another two days and nothing. I went to the center and was told just to call the nurses station with my concerns which I did. Every time I called over the next two days I only got the answering machine, left messages and nothing. By this time my dads legs began to swell where it made it hard for him to walk. I then went to the website and sent an official complaint in, 24 hours later no response. I then called my dads doctor and they wanted to see him immediately and set an appointment for the next day but when the nurse called the center for them to set up transportation they were told it would take 5 days so we had to reschedule my dads doctor appointment. In the next days my dad continued to gain weight, began having serious breathing issues and both his legs had swollen to the point he had to use a wheelchair and could no longer walk. I met him at his doctor appointment which the transport was a hour late for. When the doctor saw him they sent him straight to the hospital which he spent 7 days in and lost almost 17 pounds of fluid in the first 4 days. He also had a severe rash on his bottom which he had requested powder or something to treat it at the center and was given nothing. When he was released he went to another nursing center also owned by Saber. We have been extremely pleased with the care he has received there. They call me and if I have a concern they return my call and are so kind. My husband and I went to pick up his items from the first center and starting going through them several items are missing including 5 pair of shoes. He only has the shoes he wore to the hospital. There was a picture his pastor had painted for him that cannot be replaced that held great sentimental value. I could go on, its a long list. I have attempted to contact the director (which will not return a phone call but will answer a text very rudely) and have been put off and put off. How can a company hire and keep someone like this that will not even return a phone call and just showed NO care or concern about my dad at all. How many other patients/residents have been neglected there. All the doctors, hospital staff that treated my dad said this was neglect.
Rocky Mount Health in Rehab is a fantastic facility and working with this company has been great. The Owner of the company is approachable and he truly cares about his employees and facilities.
My mom was rehab patient at Tylers Retreat twice over the past years before becoming a resident in Dec of 2014. Both rehab experiences were okay. The first year there as a resident was pretty smooth, and the facility seemed well run and operated smoothly. I was, and still am there every day, and I have an outside helper as well who visits 5 days a week. As time passed, the daily aides that I dearly loved started telling me that they were leaving, and as hard as I tried to encourage them to stay, they couldn't. That first happened in Sept 2015, and again summer of 2016. I am now finding that the aides at this facility have too many patients to care for, very little respect, and are burning out. Since the "state" recently was in the building for review, the situation seems to have gotten much worse. The professional staff scrambles to find coverage when short staffed, for whatever reason, but it is the patient who is paying $7000 a month for top notch care, that suffers the most. My mom and her roommate are not able to perform any ADL without assistance of staff, and when short staffed, they suffer. As a family member, who, by the way worked in the industry many years ago, I would think this small facility would operate as a"team" or family - as I used to see, but no more. CNAs can only work so many "doubles" before morale suffers, as does care. I do not know what the pay scale is for the staff at Tylers, but I do know what it is for the family members that "volunteer" in the dining room, when residents have been there for 60 minutes, and are still waiting on someone to fill out, or turn in their menus for the meal!! Being the clock says 6:20 and they do not have drinks, soup, etc and the kitchen likes to close at 7:00, frustration is rampant. This happens often, by the way. I visit all times of the day/evening, and more often at meal times to help my mom take in enough nutrition just because of this. I also do my mom's laundry, by choice, and provide other needs such as body wash. But I do depend on the facility to provide the gloves and wipes for sanitation. But, once again, I find she is often out, and there are none in the building..... I provide them so she won't go without. I do not have answers for the problems I see, but I"m sure if I talked with the employees, they could come up with some!! I also think I will start saving my receipts for the items I supply and my time spent meeting the needs of other residents from her bill?? I am frustrated, as this post exhibits. I know Saber Healthcare is in business to make money, but patient care and satisfaction has to be prime as well.
They only care about the bottom line. Cash in there bank!
This is a great company that truly cares. They care about the patients and the employees. They are honest and and strive for the best. As a nurse, I have never seen a company that is so committed to the care and love of people.
Saber, at Indian Lake in Ohio, is THE worst place I have ever worked. I have been an STNA for over 15 years. There were employees there with not even a year experience making more than me. The newly renowned facility is housing sex offenders, drug addicts, alcoholics, AND allows them to smoke pot, drink alcohol, & take illegal drugs. The administration allows this to keep the money flowing. As an STNA and my fellow co-workers, we not only had our two assists to care for, we had to deal with the drunks and sex offenders. It was a nightmare.
The bonuses that were offered for picking up shifts or staying over, we didn't get unless you kept complaining to the administration. The time clock never worked! I complained to corporate and it worked that day & that was it. If you are thinking of working at Saber or are already, watch your paychecks, check your time, make copies of EVERYTHING!
Terrible company from upper management and flows down from there. Much turnover in building. Approaching 90 days, terminated with no previous warning. Company only interested in making as much money through therapies as possible with no regards to what the resident actually needs. Works employees with no regard for their overall well being, other than paper compliance to state department.
I would not give one star to this organization except by default of a review. I have two relatives in Gabriel Manor in Clayton, NC and despite multiple calls and trips, the director doesn't respond and office staff are not trained in their roles and jobs. The headquarters at Saber appears to not be accessible to file a complaint so I will follow another reviewer's advice and file a complaint with the state.
I am a former resident of this facility and would like to share my experience there. My experience was one of inattentive care from the aides, leaving me with skin breakdown and bedsores. The lack of response by the medical staff allowed a relatively simple, treatable infection to nearly kill me and borders on malpractice. I have medical records to justify this claim.
I came to this facility for therapy/rehabilitation after a surgery. The therapy facilities are old and antiquated. They consisted of a hand bike, a lat/shoulder 'pull down' weight stack, an exercise bike and a set of parallel bars. The equipment looked old and second hand. Broken equipment was piled on the other side of the room. The majority of 'therapy' consisted of range of motion exercises while laying in bed. The therapy staff did the best they could with what they had, but you would think that a facility with 'rehabilitation' in it's title would actually have the means to provide it.
While at the facility i fell twice. After this incident my ability to move got worse. I would later find out that the physical therapist and the facility doctor were discussing my condition, and yet saying nothing to me about any course of treatment. When I got to the point that I had no feeling in my legs I was finally sent to the doctor. It was discovered that I had disc in my neck that had slipped, which required immediate surgery.
The staff was a 'mixed bag' at best. Some truly cared about the patients/residents. There were others that; quite simply, should not be in the healthcare industry. I heard the term 'we're shorthanded' frequently. The 7 pm to 7 am shift was the worst. There were 3 people in particular who would oftentimes come into the room to do changes/cleaning while carrying on personal conversations on the phone. I had an instance once where I was struggling to reach an item on the tray near me. When an aide came in she stood and smiled instead of helping, then turned and walked out of the room. While I never experienced it there were several rumors of older residents being hit/abused at night. Showers were missed. The inability to stay clean and dry lead to bedsores that were ultimately treated in a hospital and by another facility.
When I came there the facility was owned by Sentara. In July, 2019, Saber Healthcare purchased the facility. Almost immediately cost cutting measures were taken; often to the detriment of residents. For example, under Sentara residents would receive a small snack and drink in the afternoon from the snack cart. This was cut by Saber. Absorbent pads used by Sentara were cut in lieu of what amounted to be cloth rags that held moisture and caused bed sores. The hair stylist services were cut. Food quality was drastically worse.
In late November, 2019 I began to feel ill. I began sleeping almost constantly, which was not like me. This was largely ignored by staff. This continued for 3 days. After being unable to reach me for 3 days by phone my daughter came to the facility. Upon seeing the condition I was in and the fact I would not wake up and my blood pressure had become critically low she insisted that I be taken to the hospital. I would then spend the next 3 1/2 weeks in ICU with an untreated urinary tract infection that had gone septic. At one point I was downgraded to critical condition and was intubated and placed on a ventilator. I would eventually recover and; upon discharge, go to another facility where I received proper care. All of this for a very simple infection that could have been treated with an antibiotic but was ignored.
After I had left the hospital and went to another facility (under NO circumstances would my family allow me to go back to Waterside) I called back there to try to make arrangements to get my things. The administrator of the facility (I won't mention his name here) was especially rude and belligerent on the phone. Finally my daughter just went there, got my things and walked out.
This Co doesnt take care of there CNA's
These ppl work so hard an the upper crust doesnt even care.....ive seen too many leave very sad!
My Aunt and Uncle reside at Old Forge Manor, a Saber healthcare facility. They receive excellent and personalized care. All staff are caring and everyone is professional and so friendly. The facility is clean and the residents are well cared for. My Aunt and Uncle enjoy the food and the activities. Their medical needs are always a priority and nothing is overlooked. It is a peace of mind knowing they are living in such a wonderful environment.
I absolutely enjoy working for Autumn Care of Chesapeake. I have worked at a few different long term facilities in the area and this is by far one of the nicest. The staff are friendly and compassionate and truly care for the residents in our facility. I am proud of where I work and the staff I work with. They are an amazing team and dedicate to the patients they take care of.
I work for Saber. I have always been impressed with the Resident Focus first approach of this organization. This Corona crisis has just been the test of that focus. They have absolutely exceeded all my hopes.
This organization, from the owner down, has been working non stop to provide us with everything we need to protect our staff and residents. It has been an amazing effort to ensure we have the PPE and appropriate cleaning supplies. No one has gone without. I am grateful to work with sincere and dedicated people!
My husband is in Caring Heights and has been left for hours in his own bowel movement. His nurse left at shift change without cleaning him. Next shift changed him. I am filing a complaint against the home and corporate.
