Rutland nursing home needs to be closed down permanently. Please do not send your relatives there. The conditions are horrible and patients are not given the best care At All. There are a few nice staff members who actually do their job but overall the place is not a nursing home that should be in operation. I would be here all day if I listed the issues. Please just do not send your loved ones to this place.

The staff are of no help. You call for assistance no one shows up. Social workers never return your calls. The food is cold as if it s coming from the refrigerator. The nurses never know anything and always say that was the other shift. This center really can do better. The facility need an upgrade and the staff. I must give the therapist some credit. They are pretty good at their jobs.

This place is the worst!!! Flies in rooms and the staff is inadequate to handle hospice care. I am not a New York resident and I am beyond appalled at the care this facility is providing !! I will be filing a COMPLAINT

My husband spent less than 24 hours in this place. He walked in using a walker and came back out on a stretcher back to the hospital where he was coming from.
He was there for rehab after a re-do of knee replacement. He wanted to use the bathroom at 4 am. When tried to alert the nursing staff the call button was no where near his antiquated bed. Neither was his neighbor's. He looked for his walker and is no where to be found. He sees his stick and tries to use it. It provided not reliable so he grabs onto the bed for support and the bed wheels were unlocked. He went sprawling on the floor znd landed on the knee that still had surgical staples.
The reason he tried tp use the bathroom because his urinal was full and he needed to make number two. It's 2 days he was carted out and he is unable to come out of bec without lifted out.
After the fall the call button was placed by him and he tried to alert the nursing staff he needed a bed pan. I was on the phone with him while at home. I made a 20 min trip to the facility and no one came to assist him. When i went to nurse's station and alerted them, the RN told me she was giving morning report that is why no one came. I was the one who brought the bed pan.
My husband medical progosis had a big set back because of this negligent institution

Very poor facility. Roach infested is not even the word. My aunt was a resident there before she passed in there. Roaches and ants were crawling all over the rooms. The staff has a very nonchalant attitude towards their patients and their duties. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Seek elsewhere!

This place (staff) took great care of my uncle who was in a vent. By God's grace he came out and has recovered a long way. I thank God for the staff who were very pleasant in helping my uncle and so nice to the family when we came visit.

I am seeing some suspicious good reviews here; If you are not sure who to believe - I am probably willing to show you my email exchanges with the home and you can decide for yourself. There is one exception and that is one dietician who's responses were in normal timing and she took actions promised (it would be fair to assume).

When I first heard that Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center Rutland Nursing Home will be my husband's long term care center, I was very apprehensive, because I wanted him home and I didn't hear great things generally about Rehabilitation Centers. However, I have never been so wrong in my life about this facility. The staff is absolutely wonderful, kind, gentle and caring. Especially some of the 6 West Nurses where he is at now: M. Medor, R. Iroh, R. Laguerre and M. Jules because they are always willing and eager to help me. I love the rounds made during lunch time by the nurses. My questions are always answered in a very professional manner. My concerns are always addressed on a timely fashion. I appreciate the fact that they always check their contact sheets to make sure that they are speaking with the right person. I'm also thankful for the therapists on that floor and on the 2nd floor. Some nurses aides like Ms. Mighty, Ms. St Fort, Ms. Gibbs and Ms. Bradley. Everybody goes above and beyond to help their patients and each one who I meet is nicer than the next. If I would have met some of the staff members on the outside I would have chosen them as my friend surely. The facility is always kept clean and clutter free and that made me very happy. Recreational time is extremely enjoyable, fun and lots of laughter. The dietician worked together with me to make sure that my husband enjoys his meals. My family and I have had a wonderful experience here and would definitely recommend Rutland Nursing Home at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center 6 West to anyone who is looking for a great long term or short term center for their loved ones.

Stay away from this facility. If you want them to beat your loved ones, mistreat them, neglect them then it s the place to go. Reporting this place to Department of Health. STAY AWAY. The administrator is a piece of work Neil Pollack. Neil does not care for his patients or the family members.

Complete inadequate staff. They provide absolutely no assistance to the patients. No one can answer any questions about the simplest of things. I definitely would not recommend this place to anyone for any reason at all. The entire staff needs to be replaced.

My cousin was a resident of Rutland for several years. W. was younger than most of the adult residents, but had a combination of physical and mental health issues that made it impossible for her to live in assisted living or independently. W. often needed to be hospitalized and the combination of medical and mental health services at Kingsbrook and proximity made Rutland the right choice.

Rutland staff had never had a resident quite like W, but mobilized to provide adequate to excellent care for W.

W. had an involved and patient family member (who had power of attorney) who engaged and worked with staff. She acknowledged that W. was a challenging resident and helped them to see W. as a person with wonderful qualities beyond her physical and mental illness. W.'s advocate always treated staff (Aides, Nurses, PT, OT, Nutritionists, and medical and mental health providers with respect and gratitude (as simple as "please" and "thank you").

The building is old and has 400 residents, but it shines. It is understaffed at times and there is staff turnover. BUT some staff members have worked at Rutland for many years. In general, staff feels unacknowledged and unsupported. It is bare bones in services. At times, care is poorly co-ordinated. We found that it was usually possible to to engage staff in problem-solving.

W. died due to kidney failure recently. W. was comfortable and at peace with excellent Hospice Care supplementing care from Aides and Nurses.
The Rabbi was wonderful.

If you are willing to advocate and work WITH staff to care for your family member, Rutland can provide adequate to excellent care for your family member.

PLEASE PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH AND AVOID THIS PLACE. Right now my mother is refusing to care for anything because of the people and their disrespect and lack of care fpr the responsibilities they signed up for. She came in for rehab for her stroke and ended up going back and forth to the emergency room for failed kidney, potassium levels to low these things were supposed to be monitored by these nurses and docs. So many different issues and too too many blood transfusions. Please dont trust your family care to them.

November 2016. ****WARNING****

If you love your loved ones at all....you will NOT bring them to this dump. The staff frequently display incompetence, negligence, and a " I don't care attitude". There are rodents that I have spotted running around as well. This place really needs to be investigated and possibly closed down. If you admit your loved one here, you will have to be their voice and advocate, because the staff hold little to no regard for their residents comfort or progress. The nursing staff also too often keep a lot of noise going in the nursing station , with their excessive personal talk and laughter. The majority of the nurses are not observant, and it appears as if this facility is grossly understaffed. The majority of the workers are of black caribbean descent, and behave as if they have no love or compassion for the patients under their care. I can go on and on. I beg you....don't puck this nursing home for your loved one. The service is horrible and the workers in leadership positions are ignorant to what they suppose to do. I do not understand why such a home as this one is still open for business. Yes, it's that bad.

Consistently understaffed, consistently inconsistent information for your loved ones. Charts are never up to to date unable to get health updates about your loved one. I really regret that they are in this facility I constantly worry about them. I asked 4 days ago about my family members health to speak with a doctor or nurse. I still haven t spoken with anyone yet.

My mom spent 6 days here and died on the 6th day.

My mom spent 6 days here and died on the 6th day.
Due to Covid-19 I was unable to visit but I spoke and FaceTimed with my mom daily. The day she died I was unable to contact anyone on the floor she was on which made me suspicious. I spoke to my mom at noon she said she was fine and after several attempts to contact her & the front desk by 3 am she was dead.. Please don t allow your love ones to go here these ppl don t care & they cover up so much.
