Huge commercial winery. They will most likely have availability any time you come since the place is huge and they have lots of staff attending people. We did the tasting of 5 wines while standing up at the bar. I was not impressed by any of the wines I tasted. The person who attended us was very friendly. Having been to other wineries in the area before, I'd much rather plan better ahead of time and go to a smaller family run winery where you'll get a more personal experience and taste better wines.

Not the most amazing experience. We did the cave tour and were bored within the first 10 minutes. If this is your visit Napa visit, it s fine. If you have done a tour before or know the basics about the Napa valley, you will be bored like us.

Wines were fine. Disappointed no cabs were offered after our tour guide went on and on about Napa being Cab country. Staff is friendly just not well executed.

Rutherford Hill Winery is a perfect location for relaxed picnic paired with one of their delicious red wines. We picked up some fried chicken at Appendum and were worried we wouldn't find a winery that would let us bring our food on their property. Rutherford Hill Winery came to the rescue! We were greeted by a fantastic tasting room manager, who helped us pair our food to a limited addition Merlot. The view at the picnic area was stunning and we were able to walk around the property. We can't wait to come back and visit!

Good wine, good pairings but customer service needs some work. We actually left without paying for our tasting and went back. Absolutely no thanks for being honest or considerate. For that, 2 stars.

We arrived on Sunday around noon and it didn t seem like anyone was interested in talking to us. The lady at the check in desk was rude, I said we were interested in a tour and she asked if we had a reservation. I said no, and she just stared at me and said nothing. I then asked about a tasting, she turned around and looked inside and then told me there was room inside. It was really awkward. We stepped inside and stood there, was not greated by anyone at all, ignored. My husband used the restroom and I continued to stand there waiting for someone to acknowledge me. When my husband came back, I told him I m not staying. Very disappointed, as this winery was at the top of my list to visit.

This place is fabulous. Because of covid they cannot offer cave tours but that is not their fault they are always staying as safe as possible. The wine is SO good for the value and we love drinking our wine member shipments plus everything we buy when we visit. It is a great place to visit.

Different experience than several other wineries but still amazing. We didn't get as much information about the wine and winery but it was a perfect time to catch up and chat with my friends I was there with. Views are breathtaking and wine was delicious! Perfect picnic stop!

Anna Cupp the wine club manager is incompetent, dishonest, unhelpful and vindictive. I joined the wine club in April of 2018 on a visit to the winery. I was never told anything about a minimum required number of wine shipments that I must receive. January of 2019, I emailed Anna requesting that my membership be terminated as I am moving out of the country and received no reply. A couple of weeks later I received a welcome to the wine club packet in the mail and was mystified. I called Anna and explained again that I would not be here in February to accept a wine shipment and again asked her to cancel my membership. Anna basically refused. That same day Anna ran a charge for $214 on my credit card. Now I have to dispute this transaction with my credit card company. I have never seen such disgusting treatment of so-called members or customers anywhere. How can this be good for business?! I will tell everyone I know about this experience and warn them to stay away from Rutherford Hill Winery. Oh, I also joined Markham Vineyards wine club during the same visit last year. I relayed the same information to them about my upcoming move and received a nice email wishing me safe travels. I think Anna Cupp must be deranged or simply a crook.

We had the delicous wine and chocolate pairing (seen in picture). Dean, our sommelier was very laid back and informative. The whole atmosphere was very relaxing and peaceful. Worth a visit especially if reds are your 'thing'.

I have been a member since 1997. They have been doing exceptional red wines and blends for years. They also have one of the best views of Napa Valley with a lovely picnic ground. Finally, their Zinfandel port is always a favorite.

Wine I do not drink... and this vineyard makes me sorely regret it! Unforgettable views of the countryside, and an impressive tour through the processing facilities. Gourmet cheese plates available, and if you also have family living in Napa, then they qualify for discounts to residents. ;)

A very nice spot to picnic. We went as a tour and split 4 bottles of wine. The wine was good and the views were amazing. The weather was perfect so mileage may vary, bit for a spring day it was a beautiful picnic spot. The bathrooms were very clean and the atmosphere very nice. The outdoor ambiance was the best part, only a koi pond is missing.

My friends and I stopped into Rutherford Hills on a Friday afternoon and our time there could not have been any better. Wines were all top notch with reasonable prices. Scenery was phenomenal. And their staff was the best we had been around all weekend. Highly recommend and I wish Rutherford Hills all the best. Will be returning for sure.

Booked a terrace tasting at Rutherford. The amount of varietals you try is impressive. The service is a little invasive if you are hoping for something very relaxing since I would say this is more of a learning experience with the amount of information they share per tasting. Very informative and I enjoyed it but my husband is not too interested in wine so this was probably not his favorite stop of the day.

Spectacular location. Truly special. Go for a cave tour/tasting, it's worth it. I don't think I've ever learned more about wine on any other tour. They also are known for their great picnic areas. Perfect setting, unbeatable view, chill and about perfect.

The front lady outside their tasting room was not interested and little rude to us when we went for a walk in wine tasting. We were okay coming back and making a reservation right then and we saw there were a few open slots but she just was not interested. Its pretty but they need polite and welcoming working people! Will definitely skip this place!

Not only the wine is good, people here are awesome! During my visit here this summer, I left my Tilley Hat in the restroom. I sent an email the next day asking if they can mail the hat to me if they had found it. The Testing room manager Scott T. Bradley replied and sent me the hat by mail! I am so happy to be reunited with my beloved hat!

One of my favorite wineries in Napa! Not only is the wine top notch but the view of the valley floor is hard to beat. Aaron lead our tour and was very personable and knowledgeable. He made our group feel comfortable and kept us engaged from start to finish.

I am never one to leave negative reviews but... don t waste your time here. I am unfortunately a member here, cancelling after today.
So we have tried multiple times to call in and set up a tour, no success, this was last month. Left four voicemails! It was disappointing, but I got over it. We are members of six other wineries in the region so we cut Rutherford a break thinking ok they are super busy
Today is my birthday, and we showed up on a Sunday. Not only were we not seated for a tasting but we got told to leave, the pourers were rude, and short with us. Forget it, so over this place. Cancelling and never coming in again!

This is one of the best wineries in the valley. They're wines are above exceptional (even in Napa) and have membership levels that can be pretty attractive if you visit often or live in the area. When I take friends usually one person in my group joins. The wines really are that great. The tour is pretty neat and they will take you through the tank room during the off seasons. You do get to see the cave which is nice and they employ the more knowledgable guides, hosts and pourers in the area. They will always open your favorite wine if it's not among the selection they have open. Many of their wines have very limited case runs so being a member has it's privileges. Make reservations for the tour and to use the picnic area. I am a local and do belong to the winery, They are definitely known for their reds. If you're contemplating wineries in the area and have limited time, put this one on your list. I get to surrounding wineries/vineyards and some spend a lot of effort on their interiors but fail at winemaking, this one exceeds at winemaking and has managed to create a really great and comfortable tasting area and outdoor seating. One last thing, They have the best or second best view in all of Napa. No food although they occasionally cater for their new releases or just to be nice. Check their website for info.

Our first time in the valley. Went with Googles high rating of this place and glad we did. Enjoyed it very much!

The staff was informative, attentive and generous with the tastings . We ordered one tasting to share and it was more than enough.

Enjoyed the patio seating. Atmosphere was casual and inviting. Sat in the warm sunshine and learned so much from our server about Napa wines

Got great parking close to the patio. Worth the visit!

This past week a group of girlfriends and myself spent time touring wineries around the valley. Of all the wineries we went to, we unanimously agreed Rutherford Hill had one of the best views of the valley. It is absolutely breathtaking. If you go, ask for Jimmie if he s working. He took such great care of our group, and seemed genuinely happy we were there! It was a lovely experience and would recommend this spot to others.

We had a lovely visit at this winery. I would highly recommend a visit here. Our local wine store set up our visit and Jeremy treated us really well. He walked us through their caves and showed us their manufacturing process along with their lookout point which looks out over the valley. They also have a sitting area where you can enjoy a glass of wine and accoutrements, which you can bring with you.If we are in the area again, we will def stop back in!

I usually like to visit different wineries and I ll compliment and give good reviews. However, I visited this place for the very first time and I was given an outdoors picnic table. I ordered a bottle of wine and after having just two glasses of wine I decided to leave. I asked for the check (for the bottle of wine) and the waitress asked me if the lady at the front told me about the sitting fee of $150. I was not told about about the sitting fee which is ridiculous. I ve been to a lot better places with much better views and excellent customer service just for a glass of wine or a bottle and non of them have this ridiculous fees. Very dissatisfied.

Beautiful winery. We recommend the cave tour with Jose. He was knowledgeable, entertaining, and friendly. This is a great place for groups, as there are outdoor areas to relax, play bags, outdoor Jenna, picnic, etc. If I could do it again, I would make this our last stop of the day, with time to spare to just buy a glass or bottle of wine and take in the unbelievable views.

Oh....and we bought several bottles to ship home.

Pros:

Pros:
-Wine is pretty good
-Option to buy by the bottle or do a flight tasting

Cons
-This is a weird one but I felt like the staff was inconvenienced by us being there. The servers were stressed out to the point that is made us feel unwelcome. The were nice, don t get me wrong, but every single person working seemed like they didn t want to be there and that energy carried through. I won t be back because of that since there are so many other places happy for business right now

Friendly staff but for you to sit and get a bottle you have to pay $150 just for you to sit on a picnic table that looks
Exactly like the public parks. There s no view. Wines are okay not outstanding. Comparing to
Other wineries around that can offer way more than just this
Picnic table area. I highly recommend beringer, Coppola and Silverado Vineyards The best ones that doesn t even charge u to sit and enjoy your wine but can offer you a lot more.

Beautiful place to visit. Four of us drinking were reasonably happy to pay $50 each, but they also insisted that a fifth person, who was attending the tour but not drinking, also had to pay $50. They didn't offer him anything, not even tap water. Everyone has to drive to get there, what a shame they don't offer anything to cater for designated drivers.

Wow! Best winery in Napa out of 7 we visited! Very welcoming and informative tasting. Carly and Jeremiah are some of the best staff in the area! Tastings are affordable, wine is top notch! Try the Merlot with blueberry chocolates, it's a great pairing!

3.5 stars.Great looking place with a beautiful view from the top of the hill. Nice patio and wine tasting room.didn't care for the wine though, tried both flights and didn't care for any of them and neither did my father. A shame since such a beautiful place with a view.

I cannot believe it took me this long to realize I could leave a review on the site. My husband and I spent our honeymoon in San Francisco just about a year ago. While we were there, we decided to take a day trip to Napa & see what great winery we could stumble upon. It didn't take long before we wound up at Rutherford Hills. Upon arrival, we were notified the next tour would be in ten minutes. We couldn't have timed it any more perfect. The tour was wonderful and the grounds were absolutely beautiful! We loved our guide but sadly (1 year later) cannot recall the gentleman's name. We were served the yummy chocolate covered blueberries & Port wine at the end of the tour. Next, it was time to make our purchase of those blueberries and also our favorite Malbec from the day. Now, one year later as I am trying to decide what to get for my new husband, it dawned on me that our favorite wine from this trip would be perfect and that lead me to your site.
Thank you for the wonderful experience and memories!
