The vibe in this place is amazing. People are really friendly, not at all stuffy, and the free concerts are, as you would expect, first class. The location is super easy to get to (5 minutes walk from Baker Street tube). The thing about it is, if more places devoted to classical music had the open, inclusive atmosphere you find here, it wouldn't have the elitist, exclusive, up-itself cachet that prohibits more people experiencing the world's most beautiful music. The Royal Academy of Music is a wonderful building, with incredibly good facilities for teaching musicians. I studied here, and the teaching is unparalleled, it provided me with a wealth of skills that I use every day in my career, not only musically but socially and professionally as well. The building itself is incredibly historical, with many interesting antiques for the public to browse in the museum, a fantastic large scale performance platform in the spacious Duke's Hall, with a phenomenal newly built organ donated by Elton John. The small chamber music spaces are also acoustically brilliant, specifically in the David Josefowitz Recital Hall, where in summer you can come and watch the final recitals of the musicians who study here. There is a vast range of concerts that they provide (most for free!), as the numerous students have new and exciting programmes that they perform on a daily basis. The lunchtime recitals are a particular favourite, as the variety of works portrayed shows the increased diversity of musical interests that only students can have. I couldn't recommend the establishment any higher than saying that the people I worked with, the staff that taught me, and the building itself are all completely incomparable to other institutions.

In front of the Music Academy one can find housing, it has concessions with several Homes that are like a guest house; and it is mainly aimed at foreign students.

Five star Plus good knowledgeable staff helpful interactive area lots to do and see see well organise, well presented lots of leaflets and literature free if you go online or pick your dates carefully and times you can have actually see and hear, live tours by The People Who repair the work give you insight into the inner works ,of pieces of art wait there is, more even next door they have in the other building which is the same , but more evening, afternoon, hall,///free concerts and lectures have a royal time //// newsflash just found out why it's it's free because it's priceless.

Check the seasonal concerts programme. Some are free, with top class musicians. Definitely not to loose. (mind you, now we need to wait for the end of the pandemic )

The Academy is a fantastic place, not only to study music, but also to hear some of the most exciting young British and international musicians perform. There are concerts open to the public almost every day (many of them free!) and the quality of performance and repertoire is unmatched. The teachers are some of the most respected performers and pedagogues in the world, and student life is a good mixture of serious practice, curiosity in research, intensive lessons and lots of fun. I did two degrees here and would not have the (ever-expanding!) freelance career that I have now; I should thank them for the incredible amount of support I received, both financially and pastorally. This institution has launched the successful musical careers of so many of my colleagues and friends, and I whole-heartedly recommend coming to the building, whether as a student, teacher or listener.

My alma matter. A beautiful building. If you're general public you need to rock up at a time when there's a concert on (otherwise most of the building is not really open to the public.) luckily there are concerts just about every day of the year, every one of them performed by first rate musicians.

I am not student here but I have visited this fantastic place a couple of times and always had the most incredible experience. This academy is located in one of the most stunning areas of London and it offers various (many of them also free) top performances. As a plus, the building is really elegant! Absolutely recommended!

I had great time here during Conducting Open Day. It was such a pleasure to meet people who teach here and work with them at this open day. And building is also beautiful. I highly recommend to visit Museum too. I will definitely come here again!

A total loss for young aspiring singers. They don't help them grow only demoralize and stifle.

The Academy was the perfect place for me to study - to be surrounded by world class musicians every day (both teachers, visitors and fellow students) was incredible. I would recommend the Academy to any aspiring musician who wants to work in a professional and stimulating environment and have great fun whilst doing it! The staff were always friendly and I had so many great musical experiences - even just within my first term. Thanks to the Academy for providing me with the best possible springboard to the music profession and for the best four years of my life so far!

I had a great experience at the masterclass with Rachel Podger. They also have an extensive museum of musical instruments.

I was there as a visitor of a concert. The building is impressive and the concert hall (Duke's Hall) is visually and acoustically fantastic. The performance of the musicians was excellent, professional as expected. The prices are very moderate. A visit is definitely a great experience and well worth it.

The Academy offers over 20 musical disciplines and provides pre-professional, undergraduate and postgraduate musical training of the highest standards. There is no way that I would be where I am today without having studied at this establishment. The opportunities provided to me throughout my time studying here were second to none, getting to play under some of the best conductors in the world. All of the staff are incredibly friendly, supportive and helpful and I would recommend studying here to absolutely anybody.

I am not studying at the Academy, but I have visited on several occasions to enjoy various public events and concerts, and the place really blows me away. One of the piano masterclasses in particular provided inspiration for me and my repertoire. To top it all off, the Academy is situated in one of the most beautiful parts of London.

The Suzie Sainsbury is a graceful, welcoming theatre with excellent acoustics, offering an exciting proximity to the performers. Most importantly, it is an arena for listening to the brilliant student talents being nurtured in this amazing environment. This was all on show in Friday's concert, involving Kit Downes' piano trio, performing some intricate modern grooves, in the first set,and then, after, the interval, an explosive tribute to Kenny Wheeler, in which the students' Big Band, under Nick Smart's baton, rocked the hall with their well honed ensemble playing, the impressive brass attack sending shivers down the spine, and the inspired soloists setting out their stall with great fluency. Stan Sulzman, Norma Winstone and Evan Parker, generously guesting with the band, were the icing on the cake in an immense concert, which filled my heart with joyful optimism all the way home. Thanks for a great display of superb musicianship, which honoured Kenny's memory.
