Rosemary Farm is a beautiful horse Sanctuary nestled in the Catskill Mountains of New York. They have many beautiful, well-mannered horses just waiting for forever homes. Dawn, the owner, started the Sanctuary with a draft boy named Jed, a Belgian draft who was horribly lame from lack of care. Happy as he was at the farm, he was never truly complete after his neglect. It moved Dawn to try and help others. The horses here have lots of room to roam and are very well taken care of. Dawn makes regular trips into the pits of the auction houses to save those she can. Its a tough job that requires a unique person, one who can do battle with the renderers and slaughter house buyers to save lives off the kill floor but who also, sometimes, cries for those she can't while on the way home.

Rosemary Farm Sanctuary is a place where horses get to be horses. It's tranquil, serene and simply the most compassionate group of people I've ever seen. They were recently videos by Nat Geo. It's worth looking up (and donating).
