About Rosa the uk fund for women and girls
Rosa: The UK Fund for Women and Girls
Rosa is a grantmaking charity that funds grassroots women’s organisations to help make the UK a fairer, safer place for women. Founded in 2008, Rosa has been working tirelessly to support women and girls across the country by providing them with the resources they need to achieve their goals.
The organisation was established in response to the growing need for funding and support for women’s organisations in the UK. Despite progress being made towards gender equality, there are still many challenges that women face on a daily basis. From domestic violence and sexual harassment to unequal pay and limited access to education, there is much work that needs to be done.
Rosa recognises this need and works closely with its partners to provide funding, training, networking opportunities, and other resources that enable them to make a real difference in their communities. The organisation believes that by empowering grassroots organisations led by women, it can create lasting change at both local and national levels.
One of Rosa’s key strengths is its focus on intersectionality – recognising that different groups of women face different challenges based on factors such as race, ethnicity, sexuality or disability. By taking an inclusive approach that addresses these issues head-on, Rosa ensures that all voices are heard and all needs are met.
Over the years Rosa has supported hundreds of projects across the UK ranging from community-based initiatives like peer mentoring programmes or self-defence classes through larger-scale campaigns aimed at changing policy or raising awareness about important issues affecting women today.
Some examples of recent projects funded by Rosa include:
- A project run by Black Women's Rape Action Project (BWRAP) which provides legal advice services for survivors of rape who have experienced racism.
- A project run by Muslim Women's Network UK which aims at tackling Islamophobia through education.
- A project run by Sisters Uncut which campaigns against cuts in domestic violence services across London.
These projects demonstrate the diversity of work that Rosa supports and the impact it has on women’s lives. By providing funding and support to these organisations, Rosa is helping to create a more equal society where all women can thrive.
Rosa’s work is made possible by the generous donations of individuals, trusts, foundations and corporate partners who share its vision for a fairer world. The organisation also works closely with volunteers who help with fundraising, events management or other tasks that are essential to its success.
