River Space is the brainchild of Duane Smith, Portland's event planner extraordinaire. With more than 35 years experience in event services from LA to Seattle and Las Vegas, his company West Coast Event Productions, became the launching pad for Pure Space in Portland. This was the first full service flex space for every imaginable type of event, designed and furnished, soup to nuts by the same company.

Now add River Space to the mix and you have Portland's diamond showcase of event venues that no other entity can compete with for it's shear opulence, modernity and ingenuity.

River Space occupies a rare niche in terms of location, location, location. No other event space has Willamette River vistas from inside and outside alike, punctuated by a small "river" inside the venue with glass bridges in several spots. Then there's the overall building design and decor which can only be described as "off the charts". They say a picture is worth a thousand words. I say pictures don't do this space justice. The elegance and grandeur elicited from the moment you walk in is simply mind boggling. Locals usually refer to other event spaces as rather utilitarian or quaint in comparison.

This place screams MAJESTIC OPULENCE from the entrance and then spreads that theme on thick throughout this unique venue. If you desire to host an event that will leave a lasting impression, River Space is the premiere venue of choice in Portland, OR.

Wow. Breathtaking! The space was gorgeous and versatile. No longer is it a restaurant feel, but a build your own event space with the finest of touches. Floor to ceiling windows allow you to gaze upon the Willamette River and the Dragon Boat racers preparing for competition. Across the river you can see OMSI's submarine which was featured in the 1990 movie The Hunt for Red October. If you have a meeting in the event space, you can enjoy a nice stroll along the riverfront, as well as our own little beach, Poet's Beach. This attraction is located steps away from River Space, under the Marquam Bridge. Need sleeping rooms? There are several options nearby, as well as many other attractions. Reserve your prime date now, as it surely won't be available for long!

West Coast Event Productions does it again! Their new event venue, River Space, is absolutely beautiful. I was not surprised by what I found when I attended their recent grand opening......elegance and style were on display everywhere. Duane and Pat Smith and their team have captured the heart of what it means to put on a first class event. You'll love this unique space located along the banks of the Willamette. It's the perfect spot for a wedding reception, elegant dinner party, or intimate corporate gathering. This is simply one of the nicest venues in Portland! Check it out and the great team at WCEP!!

Went here for an open house last night, the view is very beautiful being on the water front. The decor was nice and everything was very modern. This venue could be perfect to host an upscale event and they had accompanying vendors to match with great bites.

The parking was not ideal, the nearby parking garage was almost full and street parking is very limited in this popular area. If you were to host an event here I would also recommend putting a lot of signage around the area so people could easily find the spot. I had to walk around for a bit to find it.

The venue itself seemed quite small. This could be a combination of the space being cluttered with a variety of table setting options and vendors paired with the large number of people invited to the open house. I would like to see it privately without all of the table settings and booths.

Overall after this visit I would not host an event here. I would first need to see another event here to see if the flaws in the venue were consistent.

I attended an open house at this new venue, and I was very impressed. The highlights of the space are the high ceilings, abundance of light and river views. Portland doesn't have many event venues with a view of the river so this was nice to see. The space felt more residential or restaurant-like rather than an event venue or Ballroom which is a plus.
It was difficult to find the building based on GPS/cell phone maps. Extra signage at the street would be necessary.

Beautiful space! Elegant, accessible, wonderful views! A great location for an intimate reception or a large company function. Spacious kitchen facilities on location, perfect for food preparation or for use by catering services. In fact, on the evening of the open house when I attended, upwards of six or seven separate catering companies were present and using the kitchen facilities.

I run by the River Space almost every week and have always wanted to attend an event here! It is a great location right on the water and there is a public parking lot nearby. The inside is lovely and there is a water feature through the entire venue! I think my favorite was that the window/doors opened to allow patio access right on the waterfront!
