Rivers for Change: Changing the Way We Think About and Interact with Water
Rivers for Change is a nonprofit group of river enthusiasts who are dedicated to changing the way people think about and interact with water. The organization was founded in 2009 by Danielle Katz, John Dye, and Weston Boyles, who were inspired by their love of rivers and their desire to protect them.
The mission of Rivers for Change is to inspire people to appreciate the value of rivers as natural resources that provide clean water, habitat for wildlife, recreational opportunities, and cultural significance. The organization believes that by connecting people with rivers through education, advocacy, and adventure, we can create a culture that values healthy rivers.
One of the ways Rivers for Change achieves its mission is through its River Ambassador Program. This program trains volunteers to become advocates for their local rivers by providing them with tools and resources to educate others about the importance of protecting our waterways. River Ambassadors organize events such as river cleanups, educational workshops on river ecology and conservation issues.
Another way Rivers for Change promotes healthy rivers is through its Adventure Programs. These programs offer guided trips down some of America's most beautiful waterways while educating participants about river ecology and conservation issues along the way. By experiencing firsthand how important these natural resources are in our lives we can better understand why it's so important to protect them.
Rivers For Change also works closely with other organizations such as American Whitewater Association (AWA), California Watershed Network (CWN), Friends Of The River (FOR) among others in order to promote awareness on environmental issues related specifically towards watersheds across America.
In addition to these programs Rivers For Change also provides grants which support projects aimed at improving access or restoring habitats along various watersheds across America. These grants help fund projects like building new boat ramps or removing invasive species from local streams which ultimately helps improve overall health conditions within those ecosystems.
Rivers for Change is committed to making a difference in the world by changing the way we think about and interact with water. By educating people about the importance of healthy rivers, advocating for their protection, and providing opportunities to experience them firsthand, Rivers for Change is helping to create a culture that values these natural resources. Join us today in our mission to protect our rivers and ensure they remain healthy for generations to come!
