The River Ridge Winery has been a haven for my family for years. My parents were the first couple to ever get married there, and introduced weddings and music to the Winery, and they now have jazz and blues bands in the spring, summer and fall. We're very close to the original owners, and love visiting them. The River Ridge Winery is one of my favorite places on the planet, and everyone should go there to see the warm and welcoming staff, eat the amazing food, and drink the dazzling wine made from a vineyard a few acres away. Don't forget to say hi to the occasional cat, and Michelle the playful lab.

Five stars is not enough for this place. We Google...

Five stars is not enough for this place. We Googled for reviews and reviews on this place stood true to their word only it was better than we expected. As soon as you walk in your graded with a smile and made her feel at home. We did the wine sampling and they were all amazing. My husband chose Cabernet flunk which was one that just had been produced and not yet labeled delicious. I chose Norton's very very yummy. He is a semi sweet kind of guy and I'm a dry kind of girl. Then we decided that we would have lunch we chose the fried pimento cheese fritters with a 3 pepper Peach glaze. They were so delicious and yummy there dangerous. A must-have when you visit the River Ridge Winery. Chef Terry also brought us a sampling of his homemade gumbo. After having just a small sample I could not leave without taking it home. Hopefully when you visit they will have the gumbo on the menu and you will be able to sample it as we did. Absolutely amazing! the owners, Rob and Denise were very welcoming and informative about the history and present day of the winery. We plan to return for some more good wine, conversation and live music during another weekend getta way. L0

There is no place like this, I have been to several wineries in my travels, and non compare to River Ridge, unless of course you feel like traveling 2,000 miles away to Napa. So If your looking for cheap and inexpensive wines, then this isn't the place for you. However if you are looking for exceptional food, wine and atmosphere, then by all means you need to give this place a visit. The food is by far not your typical (sorry Missourian's) Missouri dine, It is al made from scratch taste will be the testimony for that. Music on a Sat and Sun afternoon set a wooded area, with lots of seating, and great service. Thanks Jerry and Joni, this place Rocks.

The worst thing I can say about River Ridge Winery...

The worst thing I can say about River Ridge Winery, which is also a plus for me, is that I have to travel over 2 hours to get there. If they were any closer I would be there every weekend and get nothing else done. The atmosphere, the people, and the owners are amazing. To say that they are warm and friendly would be an understatement. I learned more about wine during a single tasting there then all the other wineries I've been to combined. If you are within an hour it is a moral imperative to stop. Oh ya, the wine they produce is by far the cleanest most aromatic wine I've ever had. The only dry wine I can drink. This place is a treasure!

I absolutely loved this place. The outside seating...

I absolutely loved this place. The outside seating is super shaded to keep you cool during those super hot summer days. The live music is great. The location is romantic. And they let you try every single wine (if you want) before you select and buy your bottle! Can't wait to come back this summer!

Edit: I totally forgot to mention the adorable dog and cat that lives there and just hangs around. The dog is so well mannered and never bothers anyone or tries to give you sad eyes for food. He's just a perfect touch to an already perfect place.

Our family has a mother's day tradition, now five years strong, of going to River Ridge for lunch. We also like to visit in the winter we can combine a meal with a trip to the Yule Log Cabin for some Christmas shopping. Jerry and Joannie and all the staff are wonderful hosts. Live music and beautiful shady scenery make for perfect al fresco dining...and while we miss Lucky, the winery dog, his "brother", Barack, is there to take a nap near your table and contribute to the relaxed atmosphere. There is always a nice variety of wine available and it is very reasonably priced ($10-$12 a bottle). Our favorite is a semi-dry white called Lucky Dog and their Holiday Rose. The menu changes frequently but is always delicious. Today, my kids enjoyed BLTs and hot dogs, while the adults had chicken salad, chicken kabobs, strawberry salad and BBQ pork...plus pimento cheese fritters and fries with their famous "WOW" sauce. For dessert,a very special strawberry shortcake, big enough to share with the table! All for less than $100. And when the kids got restless, they could play in all of the grassy areas while we lingered over our glasses of wine. Delightful. Jerry once said that while some focus on location, location, location; he decided to think "destination, destination, destination." This is certainly one of our favorite destinations!
