It is new Ahmedabad where people can do cycling and even have there leisure time spend there sabarmati riverfront offers boat ride, cycle rental available at place. Many eateries also available.

Very dusty place, clean river water , should increase the green cover of the area, facility of large number of washrooms , houses a shop selling handmade wonderful curious, has a canteen for food, houses a vocational training center also, holds music classes for kids

Awesome place of Ahmadabad. Should be visited during January. The scenic beauty is excellent as u see huge kites fill the morning sky. Amazing experience. Apart from the kite festival, you can go chill with people and enjoy.

Enjoying the riverfront and if I was living in Ahmedabad this would be my daily evening point for relax and watching sunset.

Sabarmati Riverfront is a waterfront being developed along the banks of Sabarmati river in Ahmedabad, India. Proposed in the 1960s, the construction began in 2005. Since 2012, the waterfront is gradually opened to public as and when facilities are constructed and various facilities are actively under construction. Ohhh i love this place what a breeze and the pollution as well there were people who was throwing some ritual garbage into the river.

The first proposal for developing the riverfront was given in 1961 by prominent citizens of the city. French architect Bernard Kohn proposed an ecological valley in Sabarmati basin stretched from Dharoi Dam to Gulf of Cambay in the 1960s. In 1964, he proposed Integrated Planning & Development of Sabarmati Riverfront by reclaiming 30 hectares of land. The project was considered feasible in 1966 by the Government of Gujarat. Later he distanced himself from the project citing difference between his proposal and the project being implemented. In 1976, the Riverfront Development Group proposed an incremental approach for the construction. In 1992, National River Conservation Plan proposed the construction of sewers and pumping stations to reduce water pollution.

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) set up the Sabarmati Riverfront Development Corporation Ltd (SRFDCL) in May 1997 funded by Government of India with a seed capital of 10 million (US$140,000) for riverfront development. Environmental Planning Collaborative (EPC) led by Bimal Patel prepared the feasibility report in 1998. Initially the proposal was to construct the riverfront to cover a stretch of 10.4 km stretch from Subhash bridge to Vasna barrage and to reclaim 162 hectares (400 acres) of the riverbed. In 2003, the project extended to cover an 11.25 km stretch and reclamation of 202.79 hectares (501.1 acres) and was put on fast track. The project estimated to cost 12 billion (US$170 million) which will be recovered by selling of part of reclaimed land for commercial and residential purpose. Ahmedabad based HCP Design, Planning and Management Pvt. Ltd is roped in as the main architect of the project. The project has encountered several delays due to concerns regarding water level, flooding, rehabilitation of displaced slum dwellers and the opposition from activists involved with slum rehabilitation.

The construction began in 2005. Its heavy engineering and land reclamation is completed and the sewage system is also finished at the cost of 900 crore. The 11.5 km long lower promenades on both banks are completed and some of its section were opened to public on 15 August 2012. It was inaugurated by then state Chief Minister Narendra Modi. Following this, the waterfront is gradually opened to public as and when facilities are finished. Various facilities are actively under construction since then. Total 1152 crore is spent on the project by 2014.

In morning foul sewage smell spoils atmosphere. People drive two wheelers on foot path so pedestrians are at risk.

The Sabarmati river is a monsoon-fed river which has a total catchment area of 21,674 square kilometres (8,368 sq mi). The Dharoi Dam constructed in 1976 upstream of Ahmedabad controls water and protects from flooding while Vasna Barrage constructed in 1976 downstream retains water in the river along the city banks and diverts it through Fatehwadi canal for irrigation. The Narmada Canal, which crosses Sabarmati a few kilometres upstream from the city, is part of a larger canal network of Sardar Sarovar Dam. The canal can feed excess water to the river and maintains the level of water in the river which is retained through Vasna Barrage.

It's more than a fun or a scenic place. A place full of energy, enthusiasm and liveliness. A place that treats the soul with the fresh breeze. A place with all the ingredients to entertain and refresh people of all the age groups. The innovative fun rides, eateries along the riverside, the perching of birds all make this a happening spot.
One must park vehicles in the parking area to avoid the traffic and the congestion at the entrance.

Saw 1st river front which is well planned and nice to spend time.
Other states need to learn we need river fronts like this not dumping grounds

It's a good place to spend your time or do some activities (if you want to) in a very natural environment. River, greenery, good space and lots of people around you. I have seen people celebrating birthday, making tiktok videos and a very great initiative is renting bycycle to ride around here, so you can chill and workout at the same time. Overall a good to visit place regularly if you live around 5-10 here.

Infrastructure of the riverfront is amazing! You also have bicycles to try on when roaming around the riverbank!! Charges are bit high but ok for location! The flowerpark and riverfront park are main attentions! You also get good parking spaces! Some of them r charging.. Some not! In total.. A perfect place to spend the eve with family!
