Good hotel in a quiet part of town, but a little bit too far out from the main attractions. When we called about a pool they said they had one, but when we arrived they never told us that there was no water in it! The front office was very friendly and very willing to refund our money at no charge and allow us to look for another hotel which is what we did! had there have been water in the pool, we definitely would have stayed and enjoyed our time!

We have always stayed at another place when visiting the Smokies. Now that we ve stayed at River Edge, we have found our new go to. The rooms where impeccably clean, the grounds and pool were spotless, and the staff was all amazing as well as super nice. The breakfast was a grab and go type thing, which was plenty for us, just don t expect waffles and eggs (although the microwave frozen cheese omelets were our daughters favorite). This place has been recently remodeled and they did an amazing job! They also offer Bath and Bodyworks shampoo/conditioner, etc. Nice touch. Thank you all so much for a wonderful stay, we will be back for sure!

Very nice room had gas fireplace two queen-size beds not very much light in the room. Decent size pool but was freezing cold even in June. Not far from the strip easy enough to walk to most breakfast places or attractions

The location can't be beat! The rooms are nothing special, unless you get one with the heart-shaped jacuzzi tub surrounded by mirrors ;) But the prices are reasonable, and the rooms are clean. The staff is super friendly and accommodating.

We stayed there 3/19-3/21. This place needs desperate remodeling. Holes in bathroom, needs painting and jacuzzi leaks from hot tubs in rooms above our room. Leaked so bad we could not use it for getting leaked on from above rooms. has only shower head in jacuzzi so you have to take a bath/shower in jacuzzi. This happened the last night of our stay otherwise we would have changed rooms but were leaving the next day. We have stayed here several years before and was ok but will never stay again. Yes rates are low but had rather pay extra $15-20 dollars more for a more up to date room. If River Edge was remodeled it would be an awesome place to stay because it is next to main street and Ober Gatlingburg. If I had this property it would be one amazing motel..The owners really need help in remodeling this outdated property.

Staff were excellent. We just stayed over the weekend. The small fridge made some noise at night, but it wasn't enough to change rooms. We talked to a nice staff person that gave us directions for restaurants and gas stations. We were originally from NY, and moved to SC. We loved the area, and hopefully we can book the same hotel in the future.

We booked a king smoking room and was given non smoking. When we were moved, the sink had no stopper and the heat didn't work. Otherwise the room was very large and clean and the bed was pretty comfy. Not the best...I'd only stay again as a last resort.

Just stayed here this past weekend and had a good experience with this property. They are currently going through renovations so the outside looks a little rough. We we arrived to our room we were pleasantly surprised. The rooms were nice and updated. It was nice to have the fire place. Walking distance to everything downtown and included free parking. The beds and pillows were decent but probably would reccomend bringing your own pillows.

We were forced to find an immediate remedy since Days Inn booked 3 disabled folks for one king size bed. At near dark we had no where to go but here. They put us in a room upstairs on the 2nd floor. We all use canes because of our knees and legs one of us was 69. Upon inspecting under the corners of the mattress we found dead bed bugs this explains the chemical smell in the room. Of course they won't refund your money as we had paid for 3 days. The night before the room next door was occupied by the clerk and her young daughter. These rooms were adjoining by a set of doors. The rest of the time the dirty maintenance guy who wore the same outfit stayed there. Had to park faraway from the elevator which is the only elevator. Long grueling walks up stairs for three people on canes. Had to use our pain medicine because of the physical challenges we put up with because the elevator went out of order on Day 2. Day 3 still no elevator simply cause they didn't want to pay for the elevator guy to come on the weekend to fix it. So 2 days no elevator, long distance parking, dead bed bugs under the mattress corners (thank goodness we had the spray to protect our luggage), not being able to see the Gatlinburg attractions because we all ended up too hurt to walk and spent most of the time with resting. The last day Monday checkout, they brought breakfast to the room and hurriedly threw us out still half asleep Monday morning at check out (we were the last evacuated from the second floor) having the maintenance man carry our bags out to the car. I would not ever recommend this place. I would turn around and go back to Chattanooga first if you can't find a better place to stay. Three unhappy disabled guests drove away from motel hell in May.

Good points-great location, close to main street (Parkway) in Gatlinburg. We just parked in motel lot & walked everywhere. Lots of hot water & pressure for showers. Coffee pot microwave mini fridge slept well. Cons: old needed painting. switches missing on light switches. One knob on AC but I pulled it off & used it to regulate temp. AC did work great. Price was right. We were hardly in our room. Not plush but adequate. Staff very friendly.

This place was old and the service was poor. The toilet was broken and they wouldn't fix it! Had to park in a nearby parking garage and walk back to the hotel because of their limited parking. I AM VERY CERTAIN THAT SOMEONE FROM THE HOTEL OR ASSOCIATED WITH IT IS PUTTING GOOD REVIEWS ON HERE.

The location was walking distance to everything we wanted to visit and great food. Literally next door to Ole smokey Moonshine, Mtn Mall, etc. The beds were comfortable, room outdated but very clean. Will definitely stay again

Staff was super friendly. The rooms have been recently renovated and are awesome. Such a home-like feeling. Location is convenient for all the major attractions in Gatlinburg and is a short drive to Pigeon Forge and Sevierville.

We had a few small issues (refrigerator was not plugged back in from the cleaning service, the bathtub dripped, some lightbulbs did not work, and the bedsheets kept slipping off the mattress). Aside from these issues, things were okay. The hotel was close enough to the strip to walk to it, which was nice.

First of all I called numerous times before my stay actually booked it twice because I got a better deal talking directly to the manager onsite. It is original building being renovated. The elevator scared me but like I said the manager hid nothing so I knew all that goi g in. But when I opened the door to my room it was devine very clean jetted tub got so much use. So did the balcony.the location superb. Again and again I would stay. The staff was excellent and kept our room fresh no renovation noises lovely place just had the right staff to talk to

Prices were very reasonable. Location close to the main drag without the congestion. Natural gas fireplace in the rooms.
However, this place is showing its age. Notable problems in the room included chipped paint on doors, slightly leaky faucets in the shower, toilet seat missing a bolt, etc. Bed was comfortable, and everything was clean, but the place could do with a rehab.

I would not recommend anyone to stay at this hotel room 213 had flying bugs everywhere especially in the bathroom. Management said they were not aware of this problem no one has ever complained about this issue and they would take care of it. The only thing they were concerned about was having housekeeping clean the room and get it booked for the next customer. We got our money back they offered us another room... No way never again... I rate this hotel a 0

Identifies as a boutique hotel however is more like a high class motel! Swimming pool was empty and maintenance work was ongoing. Having said this the room was clean, spacious and comfortable in a great location just dont be fooled into thinking it is a hotel.

Thought it was just a simple, modest place, but I was wrong. It's nice, well kept, clean, rooms are bigger than expected and the staff was friendly and helpful. Great prices on the rooms and it is right at the beginning of downtown Gatlinburg.

River Edge Inn was in a great location, right on the edge of town.

I preferenced where it was located for travelling purposes as getting out into the streets and heading towards the National Park, or down towards Pigeon Forge, made for much easier access then fighting with the strip traffic. Entry, and Exit were easy enough. Plenty of parking, close to room entrance.

Location in regards to town means just a casual walk down "The Rivers Edge", until you're on the strip by Ripleys Aquarium or Sky Bridge and have easy access to everything available. 5-10m walk to practically everything. If Gatlinburg is where you would rather spend most of your time, you don't even need to drive, and it beats paying for parking !

Guest relations are very helpful and housekeeping is on parr. Rooms are incredibly clean, updated, and spacious. I especially liked the attempt at a Mountain Room like atmosphere with fireplace and pillows reflecting such.

Swimming pool and decks to casually relax and cool off, pool is somewhat small, but was never very crowded even in the month of June and pretty nice.

Only complaint, is the walls are absolutely paper thin. Here's to hoping that most neighbors are quiet and respectable, having stayed for a week, we slept pretty comfortably and peaceful most of our times but there was one particularly giggly neighbor that kept us up a bit - luckily, laughter is good for the soul, so we mostly laughed too, but, I could see where the lack of sound barrier may pose a problem for some.

All in all, a great place to stay.

I would recommend and stay again, for sure.

Older lodge with update rooms. Fairly clean but had issues with flying bugs in bath area . Ice machine didn't work first couple of days. Flyer showed pools but they were not open at that time. However noticed that a lot of the other hotels had theirs open. Breakfast was good. Rates good.

But the large rug under the beds needs to be replaced. Looking very worn out.

Great location: easy to walk around Gatlinburg without all the traffic of being on the strip. Easy to find. Super friendly staff. The room had been beautifully updated. The pool was small and the lobby area needed updating. The breakfast availability also needed improved. Overall great experience and would definitely stay here again.

When I first opened the door to the office I knew the place was "dated",but I thought I would give it a chance. I walked in the room and it smelled, musty, almost mildew. I opened the back door to the patio and sprayed the room with air freshner. The sink in the room was cracked and i was afraid to use it for chance of leaking on the carpet and making things worse. The patio door had no chain just the lock and it looked like it had been busted open or someone tried to get into the room before so anything that we didn't take with us anywhere we locked into our truck. If the whole town hadn't been booked that nite I would have tried to move to another hotel. I will remember to stick to what I know about hotels if it looks too good to be true on the web it is.

Comfortable beds, plenty of towels and nice Bath & Body soaps, and shampoo, etc. Breakfast items in lobby you help yourself to. Coffee, tea in room, fridge and microwave.
Did not get to use the pool with handicap chair for easy access if needed. Had outside hot tub also.
In walking distance to several very good restaurants.

This place was legit! Right on the walk to downtown Gatlinburg. We walked all over Gatlinburg without needing to move the vehicle. If anyone has been to Gatlinburg you would know the main roads are ridiculously packed during Christmas. Clean hotel and the view was of the parking lot in the back so I could see the pool and the mountains. Reccomend for sure!!!
