What can more unprofessional when the Director of ...

What can more unprofessional when the Director of Resourcing of RMG himself sends you an email stating that your resume/cv is impressive and that you would be soon contacted for an interview but never cared to reply back with any update on the application status? Even after multiple follow up emails & calls he never bothered to even drop a line as to why he is not taking my candidature forward. Its quite possible that a position goes on hold/cancelled or is internally filled after successful candidate selection, but shouldn't the candidate be informed as to why his/her candidate can't be taken forward at this point in time?
