My wife found this great Indian place in Berkeley. While the cusuine is Indian, it has a very nice twist to it. The place boast of a very good bar and the food is usually good. We ordered the tikka masala flatbread (which is like a small pizza with tikka masala sauce, cheese, spinach and veggies) and the naan rice with veg korma ( which was veg korma Curry with naan, rice and salad). Both were quite amazing and perfect quantity for two people. Also if you are into cocktails, the fireside chaat is a must try which comes with biryani masala into it.
Been coming here a long time. Excellent meeting place for dates, friends and family. Often a live DJ and project Netflix movies. Custom menu of drinks and pretty great food
Best cocktails in the East Bay. Fantastic Indian food and great for dates. It's always fun to ask the bartenders for recommendations but my favorite drink is the Nightmares in Wax.

Friend and I came home, and we both promptly had sharp cramps and diarrhea (twice) and had eaten the pakoras and Tikka masala. Hadn t eaten since nine hours before, so the culprit is the food here. Got a take-out order, too, which I m gonna have to throw away. A waste and pain and poop. No bueno.

In the categories this place is listed as "Indian Restaurant," and you will indeed find some excellent curries here--but East Bay Spice Company is much more than a restaurant. The front/downstairs is a top quality cocktail bar, with high end cocktails based on house recipes, plus a unique and sophisticated selection of indie beers, not to mention a full selection of all of the brown and clear liquors you could want. I spent two evenings at the bar on a recent trip to Berkeley, and I was most impressed with not only the level of service but the overall quality of the whole experience. At the same time, I did not at any point get a hint of snobbishness or attitude. Skip the bars where the people are stacked three deep trying to get a Jack and Coke and check this place out. And oh yeah, they have a very nice menu of Indian food, with a dining room upstairs and seating on the sidewalk. I did not try everything, but all the cooking smells are amazing.
Great cocktails, fun to watch them made. They use tweezers to get the garnish and ice cubes just right. Best "bar" food around.

last night was the first time we came to that excellent restaurant. But It is absolutely not the last. We had great time with the excellent service, with the fine meal and wine and with the friendly cost. We will no doubt return there again.
A good place to grab a drink, enjoy some light food, and hang out. Has some really nice pakodas, and chicken tacos. Open late, and is very close to the campus. Good service and a good ambience.
Bartenders ignore you, you can't have your drink out side. Awfully slow.

The menu is small but tasty, I probably ordered half of it, and everything was great, especially the flat bread which was like Indian food pizza. Lamb was also amazing and tender.
When it comes to amazing handcrafted cocktails, this is the place to go. The bartenders are super knowledgeable and eager to help you find that special drink. Food was quite tasty as well! I only wish that their quality of food and drinks would match their waitress and wait staff.

The upside: The drinks are amazing!
Downside: Curries are just okay. The bartender ignored my friend and I at the bar and didn t even ask if I wanted a second drink (which I 100% would ve ordered, if she wasn t ignoring us). My drink was empty for at least 15 minutes before she even came over to take the glass and wouldn t make eye contact with us... so strange considering there were only like 12 bar spots. Lol kind of pretentious.

Excellent food! I would give 4 stars but I am giving 5 stars because of the server working upstairs on July 5 at about 11.45PM. EXCELLENT customer service on her part to get our order in before some silly midnight deadline. Would definitely go back. Enough vegetarian options to fill up on. The flatbread was unique. The shahi korma was filling. Again, you need to reconsider the midnight deadline thing if you are talking about just a few minutes. I have seen many a restaurant fail with a not so friendly cutomer service focus. Just saying...... You may want to reinforce what customer service really means to the hostess.
The lamb chop is my go to, and the bartenders are all very great.
The flatbreads were excellent, but what really blew my mind was the chicken kebab plate, those chutneys that came along with it were just so inspired! Definitely going back for more.

Ask for Bar Manager Josh and get the best craft cocktail designed for you on the spot! I had a bright Gin Infused drink better than my usual Tanquery Ten and tonic... attention to detail and warm service...thanks Josh and staff for showing me a hidden Berkeley treasure. can't wait to bring my friends...open till 2, serving small plates and more
So happy I stumbled across this gem near UC Berkeley. Small cocktail bar with a even smaller but lovely loft for dining. The only thing smaller than their loft is their food menu but omgosh is it good! The chicken kabobs come to you not just sizzling but on fire! The taste is incredible. Korma is excellent as well.
The house cocktails are good, not NYC or Boston good, but creative, thematic, and unique (carrot shrub!!), but they err on the side of either very alcohol forward or too juicy and this leads me to think its a mixing error more than anything.
Friendly knowledgeable staff, and as you can see great selection of spirits and not just the ones you'd expect to find at safeway. They've got some unique stuff in there.

Slightly overpriced for what it is and 2 of the 3 staff that helped us were just plain rude. I would leave a 1 star if it were only for them, but the 3rd one was really nice so hopefully they go more towards that direction...
