Service is very attentive and always min. 2 people per table around the guests.

We were there for a night and dinner a few days ago. The reception was very friendly, the room was very stylish. The garden is a real winter wonderland - simply magical! In the restaurant we had a table with a wonderful view of the garden. Unfortunately, we were then brought down to earth by the food. Even the question of whether we would like to have a bottle of white wine or red wine with the meal was strange to me. We then thought it was the arrangement and didn't say anything. However, it would have been very nice if there had been a suitable wine accompaniment to the menu. And if that is not part of the offer, then it would have been natural to offer us the wine list. The food was consistently good and worthy of a star restaurant. However, I would not have given it 3 stars. We have already eaten in other 3 or 2 star hotels and got a lot more around it and got something extraordinary. The breakfast in the hotel was then as advertised a continental breakfast. A small bowl of fruit salad, 1 yogurt, a little sausage (homemade, but unfortunately a little lax in taste), a kind of cheese, butter and various jams were served. There was also two types of bread, croissant and pain au chocolat. No extra requests were asked.

The staff is very friendly throughout. But we had the impression that the renowned name counts more here.

Value for money, slightly higher than the price.
Storks are welcome guests, fed by staff and owners.
It's worth going back to discover more new dishes.

A comment following the withdrawal of a Michelin star at the Auberge de l'Ill: we have already come to eat several times in this prestigious restaurant and I do not understand what we do best in terms of French gastronomy and service . Why remove a star to what we do best in France? If that were possible, the Auberge de l'Ill would deserve a fourth star!

For the aperitif, no draft beer (only bottled, local of course) During the meal I found your room noisy and very hot.
When serving champagne, the waiter removes a so-called piece of cork with a spoon (it was a small beetle ..) To conclude, you have a choice of teas, however, concerning coffee only espresso or long / decaffeinated

Places still mythical even if a star lacks the firmament of the institution but no doubt thanks to the motivated staff this will be an annual eclipse. .Decoration and very Zen gardens. Professional, efficient and very discreet staff. What more can you ask for a wonderful time almost out of time. What to say dishes in terms of presentations and cooked mastered. ... excellent excellent.

from a former 3 * locally I expect more. the food on the whole a 4th of the head waiter a disaster. handumkehrt the somelier very friendly but in the wine selection which was presented to the respective course 2 x full off (taste) Lagempfindung of 4 persons of 4. evaluation of the wine in the vino 3.1 / a 7dl bottle of the served wine costs retail price 12,50 euro, 1dl was charged with 15 euros .. already a good margin ... does not matter if the wine would have been consistent with the meal. understandable that the stars are dwindling ...

I also traveled to Illhaeusern with high expectations to incorporate the legendary arts.
The atmosphere is great, I think you could call it a light fancy 60s style. Unfortunately I could not enjoy the terrace yet, but I can imagine that it is wonderful out there in summer with the brook and the beautiful green area.
Well, the essential is the culinary arts and from a 3 star you have a high expectation right from the start.
In terms of optics, I have to say that it deserves a star, if at all. Technically clean but for my standards and for this standard - compared to Bareiss *** or Fischer s Fritz ** - very clumsy and unpretentious. I also thought it was very good in terms of taste - but not according to rank! I went there with the expectation of a taste explosion or something surprising and was unfortunately disappointed.
I would like to mention again that the food was great - but not according to the three stars!

For having had the pleasure of frequenting this excellent table and having crossed the late Bocuse we are also surprised or even shocked by the decision of the Red Guide! One more reason to come and support this year again the Auberge de l'Ill, Paul and his formidable team who are the pride of Alsace for so many years!
