Amazing views. Great service in most areas. The service at the the Grill restaurant wasn't the best as they gave my order to someone else and I had to wait double the time. This caused me to not have time to eat my lunch since I wa there for a conference meeting.
Place is old and need of maintenance. Management is weak. Horrible value for what I had to pay.
Stunning views, excellent service. Look forward to The Resort!
Was one of the most amazing resorts I ever stayed at! The food at the colosseum restaurant WAS AMAZING! You cant miss the chicken curry, it felt like heaven eating it! The bungalow was so beautiful, everything was nicely kept. The pool and the service around that area was great, we didn't have to wait long for our drinks/food. Overall, a very very luxurious experience in California!
It's such a beautiful place! Everyone is so friendly, personable and helpful
The best place to have breakfast at pool, also, the sunset is fabulous.
Had an absolutely phenomenal stay at Pelican Hill this past weekend. I stay at 5 star resorts all over the world and my stay at Pelican Hill was one of the best overall experiences I have had. The 4 bedroom Villa was outstanding. It had 4 bedrooms and full bathrooms as well as sweeping views of the Pacific from the backyard terrace, living room and master bedroom. The resort sparred no expense and had their guest in mind at every turn. From the location to landscaping to personalized service I was very impressed. Valerie helped me with my booking from their on site staff. Her attention to detail and ability to answer all my questions prior to booking was the highest level of service one could expect. I really appreciate the extra time she spent with me and how helpful she was prior to even checking in. I have 3 more stays planned over the next 3 months and am really looking forward to coming back. It was colder than what I am used to as a resident of Newport but the pool looked spectacular and was lined with cabanas with absolutely amazing views. I look forward to spending more time there on my next visit. I wasn't able to visit the spa on this last stay but plan to do so on my next trip and will update my review. If you are looking for the best of the best with absolute luxury everywhere you turn than look no further than Pelican Hill.
Wow. Phenomenal experience here, and we are already looking at dates to return! It was so beautiful. The bungalow was so comfortable and romantic that we didn t want to leave, but we had to visit the beautiful pool and explore the grounds. The bed was so comfortable, and the terrace with lounge chairs was certainly used. We loved the bathtub and the fireplace, too! And nespresso coffee in the morning was great. Loved the shower and light up makeup mirror. They even have turn down service with chocolate and will shine your shoes complimentary (and return them to you on a silver platter-nice touch).
The pool was beautiful and not too cold! We loved it. Enjoyed our time there on Friday and Saturday. Plenty of chairs to relax, upstairs or down. Food at the coliseum was great. Service could be slow here at the pool- took three times to receive water, but otherwise okay service.
Customer service is five stars. The people who work here are outstanding! Love the customer service. Brandon at the cafe/marketplace was so welcoming and thoughtful. He talked with us and upon learning we were celebrating my husband s birthday, he offered us free gelato. So nice! So unexpected and we will certainly remember our treatment here. They also offer transportation in a car across the street to the pelican grill restaurant. We loved that too! Our driver was so nice and friendly.
Gym is amazing. Complimentary bananas and other fruit, as well as water. Gym classes were fun! The instructor named Sarah was a fine instructor, albeit a little awkward in conversation. She thought that the area of Newport Coast was weird and seemed to think it was hilarious and adorable that my husband and I were going to a dance club in Hollywood that night.
The spa...wow. We didn t get any services but we were able to enjoy the amenities. I touched up my hair and makeup for the evening and changed in their dressing room. Complimentary snacks here as well- nuts and a blondie cake. So delicious. Can t wait to go back! Wonderful time!
I got the chance to visit this place wit friends. Upon arrival, the front desk was kind and accommodating. We got an ocean view room which made our vacation relaxed and sort of an escaped from the stressful work. The food was wonderful. Excellent service of the staff. The view was unbeatable. I would to spend my weekends in here!
I thought the atmosphere would be a little too posh but it was quite comfortable, hospitable.
I loved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The hotel and the golf courses are magnificent
The Resort at Pelican Hill is a truly incredible and unparalleled establishment. It dominates that true meaning of a luxury experience with high caliber personable top-notch service. My husband and I stayed at the Villas for six days and five nights after Labor Day and were blown away by the magnificent and remarkable staff throughout the whole property. Every Pelican Hill team member we engaged with during our stay was positive and eager to ensure our experience and needs were met.
Amazing place, beautiful view, excellent food & service, we had a wonderful time
Great ambiance and views a good many celebrities come here as well I was told
This is a really great place lovely wedding 2 thumbs up.
One of my favorite places. Sometimes they drop the ball but always fix it.
Do not pay attention to any of the reviews below 4 stars, they are ridiculous and tasteless. This is by far one of (if not the best) the best hotels I ve ever stayed in. You have to have an appreciation for architecture, peace, and serenity if you re going to stay here. I really loved everything about this hotel, my favorite part I would have to say is sitting in the coffee shop overlooking ocean views and the golf course while listening to Jazz/R&B music and sipping on some really good coffee.
We were here for business meetings, and by far one of the best hotels/resorts ever stayed at. Above the top luxury feeling throughout. Stayed in a bungalow which was very spacious and comfortable - fireplace was a plus! Service is really great all the way: reception, transportation, and restaurants. We ate at the Pelican Grill which was good but expected more for being part of the Pelican Hill Resort. Some items were worth the cost (lobster, steak) and some items were just not (shrimps). I know this is a very expensive hotel but definitely worth it.
The ants I found crawling on the bed and bathroom sink this morning were a nice touch. Also, the staff appeared fairly fake sticky sweet and although my room wasn't ready as promised or even on time, they simply told me to sit in the area and wait. Perhaps offering a complimentary frosty beverage in your lounge would make all of us waiting for rooms less anxious and more likely to spend money with your resort. Other than that, it's like any other resort. Nothing special and not on the beach.
Very nice golf courses. The villas are well maintained and provide great space for the entire family. A little on the pricey side, but would highly recommend.
It's Pelican Hill. Nothing missed, nothing overlooked.
Beautiful! Must visit! Breathtaking scenery, amazing staff, amazing food!
We spend 2 hours here, nice cafe and walk through hills.
The best coastal resort in OC. Service is top notch and the pricing is premium, but not nickel and dime based.

What a view! Although I ve never stayed here, the amenities for guests are incredible. It is the perfect place to watch the sunset with a delicious specialty coffee or a bottle of wine. If you re looking for a nice dining occasion delicious food make sure to visit Andrea s. Beautifully landscaped and a pool that makes you feel like Greek royalty, you can t go wrong.
I m currently at Pelican Hill and I wish I could give this place zero stars let me just start by saying this is not a Five-Star Resort! Do not come here unless you want to be treated very poorly with inadequate service. The nightmare begin at Check- in .. The man at the front desk was polite but the valet was unorganized & STOLE MONEY FROM MY CAR. When I came back and realized the money was gone I quickly brought it to their attention and they literally scoffed at me and laughed .The Situation was far from resolved . I had to call the police and make a report, thankfully they understood the severity of the matter, which sadly I can t say for the Resort Staff who handled this situation very crudely. The responding officers took this much more seriously& passed the case onto a detective. Seriously, Grand-theft at a hotel like this is unacceptable . I have traveled around the world & never had such horrible service at a resort. I wish it ended here but it doesn t .. I check into my room and the mini fridge was empty! They had to come stock it & didn t know if I was a new guest or the one that finished the fridge.. I don t even drink beer! It gets even better when we lay down to sleep there is DRY BLOOD on the sheets !!!! I checked myself and my son everywhere not a scratch I was disgusted we haven t even laid in the blanket . I will NEVER come back here and I suggest you save your money and time and go down a little further to the montage truly a 5 star resort makes this hotel look like a Motel 6. Beyond the annoyance of losing money and blood on our sheets when we were finally laying down for bed, it was honestly a really scary, unsettling experience to have on the first night of a trip; definitely gonna have jumpy rest of the vacation.
We played a round of golf at the Pelican Hill North Course and extremely pleased with the layout and maintenance of the fairways. Greens were the most challenging part which made it much more exciting.
Absolutely gorgeous views, everything is well kept and clean, and I would stay here again & again. I just loved every minute!
Attended an event. Food was delicious and service was great!
Just spent about $150K for a wedding here. Wedding and services at the wedding were solid!!! Everything else was 3 star hotel at best. Room service was awful. Had to call multiple times every time we wanted ice or coffee. And this was for all our guests. The hotel needs some major help!
Spent four nights here in a villa and I have to say I was quite pleased. Quick responding staff, easy in/out, and perfect amount of privacy. The staff picked us up from our villa quite late(may have had some drinks:p) and turned the pool/colosseum lights on for us even after hours and waited for us to finish. Will be back again!
I have golfed here for charity tournaments as well as weekend family outings here and all I have to say is that Tom Fazio has done an amazing job designing the course. As a rabid golfer who is super nit-picky about golf course condition and layout, this is THE premier ocean view golf course in SoCal. It really does not let you lay back and roll your ball to the finish line. You will be challenged to play a solid round.
If you have a chance to stay at one of their bungalows or villas, you will be blown away by the attention to detail from check-in to check-out. Take a bath in their soaking tub, order room service and get some TLC. Brunch by the Coliseum Pool is amazing - especially if you have time to soak in the SoCal sunshine afterwards just lazying around the pool on a weekend.
I cannot wait to go back.
Wonderful place great service amazing place to get married
Beautiful view and beautiful grounds. One of the best sunset views in SoCal. I would go there and get a cup of latte and sit and watch the sunset anytime!
Beautiful property. Expert care and attention from staff. All around top notch.
This resort was beautifully maintained and the staff were friendly and went above and beyond for us. The grounds and pool were beautiful. The Spa was a fabulous experience. I would highly recommene this resort.
This resort was absolutely delightful! My first time in California and when I come back I'll stay here again. Room service was superb... the rooms were immaculate and I cant say anything bad about the place. Friendly staff and the drivers were best.
The place to stay if you really want to experience a 4 Diamonds resort and complete pampering
Magnificent customer service plus gorgeous bungalows as they call their rooms
Plus they have villas that are spectacular, from 3 bdrms all the way to 16 bdrms depending on your needs
If you have time, come an check the place, you won't be dissapointed to drive up here, in gorgeous Newport Coast Dr.
Very strange why most average hotel/motels in SoCal have at least 1 tennis court but this very high priced Pelican Resort does not have 1 anywhere on its dozens of acres. Food at either of its restaurants is extremely average at best even for SoCal standards. Think Daily Grill, Coco's, Cheesecake factory or any other typical Sysco grade food supplier quality. The most impressive feature of this hotel is its buildings' decorations and furnishings, which like being in a mid-high end mass produced furniture and restaurant equipment showroom. A massage in the Pelican spa was probably the most expensive 50 min. massage we know of, but before the massage started, the spa receptionist insisted we agree to pay an additional 20% or more "gratuity", which in every other hotel is customarily agreed to after service and at the discretion of the guest. Otherwise, what is "gratuity" if it is compulsory? Ultimately, this Pelican Hill hotel feels like any other political/financial class hotel/resort built and operating for the primary purpose of riding rising real-estate values and not for the joie de vivre of haute cuisine or resort hospitality.
The sea bass fish the best thing I ever had yum, nice people.
Your employees....from front desk to waitress was the final decision for 's
Place is great. Loading dock is nice. Venue as a whole is real nice and nice power placements and thoughtful of industry power and cabeling needs
Best place for family weekend. Very exclusive and upscale.
The service was beyond exceptional. I can t get over how incredible it was. Need a ride, no problem they will pick you up at your room! Going to the pool but you ordered food that you need to get at a restaurant, no problem they will pick the food up for you. I could go on and on.
Great service. Great course. North course is more scenic. Great course condition.
The Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Coast, California is one of our favorites of all resort and spa locations in the greater Southern California area. The accommodations are very luxurious from the Bungalows all the way up through the large homestyle villas overlooking the Pacific Ocean, golf courses and gardens. Both of the restaurants on property; the Colosseum Pool Bar and Grill as well as Andrea, are relaxing and inspiring, and the updated menus always feature farm fresh and locally sourced organic ingredients as well as many gluten-free options.
The resort at pelican hill is truly a well-deserved award winning resort and spa location!
Definitely worth a visit, even if you're not staying there. Come for coffee and a great view. The pool restaurant is actually good and affordable for the resort's standards.
Simply the best of everything! I'm local so I come here to meet and entertain clients knowing they will be treated first class.
The hotel looks very nice place..we did enjoy time with coworker of my friend..in their rewards day..
Perfect venue for absolutely anything! The clear view of the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island are remarkable!
