To start my dad found out he had lung cancer and had to get chemo. Chemo is NOT fun by any stretch of the imagination. I watched my dad's strength and vitality slowly drain out of him. Since I am still working the task of being with him all day was very near impossible. Fortunately, his garage apartment is only 50 feet from my house. So, I am grateful and fortunate that I can get to him quickly and easily. But I still had to leave him alone for longer periods of time than I wanted. We both knew my dad was going to need more care than I could give him although I was giving him my best effort. While his strength was somewhat good, he started researching home care and found Regent.
He then contacted Regent and set up an appointment.
Vicky, showed up at my dad's home and I came over about 20 minutes late. Vicky went over a number of things with my dad before I got there. When I arrived my dad had a big smile on his face. Vicky went back over things with me and realized that I was doing a lot for my dad and that he was relying heavily on me to help with this decision.
All I can say is Vicky is AWESOME! My dad and I talked for quite awhile after Vicky left. We took our time and went over a number of issues and scenarios between ourselves. The end result was I called Vicky and told her we were ready to commit. Two days later we had a phone conference with Regent's people, wherein the case manager (Cindy) and the overseeing RN (Minnie) introduced themselves to my dad and I. Vicky was present at our home at the time. Cindy was already hard at work getting someone to come over. Minnie asked a number of questions and set up a time for us to talk about my dad's condition and what was expected of Regent in the area of care.
The following week our caretaker showed. Stephanie was a godsend for me. My dad and Stephanie hit it off right away. My dad actually looks forward to having Stephanie come over. This may seem strange but for me to see my dad this way is interesting because he is so regimented in what he does every day that any deviation in his routine really messes him up for the day. Stephanie really pulled it off and WOW what a personality.
Cindy did an outstanding job of finding the perfect person for us. Vicky played a major role in calming our nerves about selecting Regent. I had a couple of good phone calls with her about what was needed and what I wanted done for my dad. Everything she told me and us was spot on. I cannot say enough good things about her professionalism, candor, respect, attitude and a host of other positives. The Regent staff is top of the line and they work with me easily and efficiently, which helps me keep my dad on good course.
Regent truly does work hard for their clients. If you care about your loved one this company's business model and means of supporting you and your loved one is really hard to beat. My dad and I are truly thankful for meeting Vicky and dealing with her coworkers. Thank you so much!
