Why the good rating? I am not comparing to Alamo. Alamo really is in a different category. The arbor regal cinema replaced the village 4 (now alamo on anderson lane) as the artsy fartsy movie theatre many years ago. It also took the name of the original arbor 4 that was in the arbor shopping center across the street... it was converted into a 7 theater cinema and then into the cheesecake factory.

On this most recent visit we saw lincoln ... the tickets were pre-bought online ... and printed out so all we had to is have them scanned where we would have had our ticket "torn" ... the show was sold out-ish and was in a small auditorium .... the concession service was very friendly with no "up-sells" ... popcorn was standard ... and we even got "Nathan's" hotdogs ... which were alright but could have used some cheese.

All and all a normal movie going experience at a non- Alamo location.

You'll find movies here that are most difficult to find elsewhere. And they show many first run movies as well. Prices for drinks, etc are high, but no higher than they are at most other theaters. Seating is first come, first serve, which I prefer, rather that the "new thing" of choosing your seat on a chart beforehand. I like to sit close to feel like I'm "in" the movie, with no heads to distract. But one can never be quite sure exactly where one is going to be sitting by looking at a chart on a computer. So I prefer The Arbor's old timey first come, first serve method.

Beware of parking issues on Friday and Saturday nights. I've had to give up twice for lack of a parking spot. But the last movie of the night is fantastic. It's almost like you have your own private screening!

Word has it that this entire area is going to be torn down and replaced. I surely hope the Arbor survives. It's an Austin treasure. My sister lives near Tampa, Florida, and the closest indie theater is 2 hours away! The Arbor should be treasured, especially by movie lovers. Let's hope the developers have some artistic film sense and aren't purely driven by the almighty dollar. The Arbor deserves to live!!!

This theater is excellent because you can see all the indie pics, and it's rarely crowded on weekdays. The popcorn is excellent, but it's overpriced, as you would expect. Very easy to sneak in beers, candy, etc, if you're willing to bring a big enough purse.

Unlike the Regal Gateway theater, people who come to this one have better manners, meaning they don't talk during the films.

The only negative about this theater is that the screens are fairly small, and their equipment really should be updated.

Although not having had the opportunity to visit this Regal Theater, I am considering a visit, as new release movies are being shown NOT available in San Antonio. Due to some of the less-than-favorable comments of your patrons, I felt led to remind some one should be THANKFUL of your opportunities. YOU have access to the newest, cutting-edge movies, not always appealing to main-line audiences. Be thankful for what you have available in your backyard!

More independent films than other theaters, beer and cocktails, free/discounted popcorn with loyalty club, and very friendly staff. Conversely never really crowded, there are almost always good seats available before the film begins. I've seen maybe 40-50 films there, it's always the first theater I check when looking for something to watch.

I like this theater. This is the only independent theater that I know about in the area. They actually played Birth of a Nation here. I couldn't find it anywhere else. Me & My friend paid $8- $9 for our tickets. 4.2 Stars

The movie selection was good. It is an older theater and could use some upgrading to the ladies restroom and placing of floor lighting for visibility
when entering theater late and exiting during movie showing.

Nice little theater. It's not one of the big chains that serve food and drinks, so there was less distraction during the film. Lobby was open and clean, and had tables to sit at if waiting for friends. The auditorium itself was also very clean and well lit, and the seats were comfortable and in good condition.

it's a good theater. good parking. mostly shows indie or foreign films. it has the same feel as a generic movie theater ran by regal, cinemark or amc (i think this one is ran by regal) but i kinda like that feel.

I have always been very pleased with the selection of films, customer service, and concessions at this theater. However, every time I've been to Arbor 8, I've noticed the film is under projected (waaayyy too dark) and the sound very low, rendering many scenes almost inaudible. Many other customers have brought up these issues, and yet the theater has failed to make the slightest move to correct obvious flaws in their film exhibition. This is not only a disservice to the customers, but an insult to the filmmakers who've worked hard to make their films, only to have them carelessly projected.

Regal is a good name cause you'd have to be a king to afford this place. It's been a few years now, but I went once and never went back after seeing their concession prices. I'm remember popcorn in the $12 range and a large drink like 8$...something outlandish. Why would I waste that money here instead of using it at Alamo Drafthouse or Movie House?

Nice theater, interesting seats but nice atmosphere. Pros and cons......Nice size sodas, but the food prices are ridiculously high, i reccomend coming after you eat. Overall nice experience although the seats could use a upgrading.

Cozy little theater that runs mostly indie and limited release films. Enjoyed many movies here using Moviepass (before the MP crash). The staff is friendly and the place is clean. While there is no stadium-style seating, the screens are high up enough that someone in front shouldn t block your view.

The place is nice looking and the staff are friendly, but the theater itself needs updating. The seats are old and not very comfortable, and both times I've been here the theaters have this really damp, musty smell - really reminds me of being inside a cavern - that is very unpleasant and distracting

Though I usually like this theater, I am boycotting them for at least the next six months, as are many others. Arbor Cinema is participating in showing a pro-Trump, pre-midterms-timed, political brainwashing film that promotes right-wing religious "supremacist prophecy." Shame on you for promoting such garbage! If enough of us boycott, perhaps Arbor Cinema and Fathom Events will reconsider this film. Money talks! Arbor Cinema won't be getting my money! They could use their venue to promote films that improve our community rather than spread hate and lies.

In the last quiet, serious 20 minutes of the movie, it sounded like happy hour showed up at the back door. The waiting crowd outside the doors was more audible than the movie. Ruined the ending. I spoke to manager & he acknowledged some people do complain but, meh. He didn't seem to care much.

The consession rocks. The candied almonds are so good. They also have coffee drinks. Place is clean seats are good. Only problem is they put the screens up very high. I have never been to a theater where the screens start at the ceeling. You have to look up at screen.

This theater is always clean and has huge auditoriums! The staff is very friendly and not pushy at concessions when you re taking a little time to figure out what you want. Seats are comfy and the theaters have a pleasant smell to them.

You go here for the select movies that you don't find at other theaters... not the seating, which is old, or the expensive snacks. All that said, I go pretty regularly because of the quality of movies.

I just moved to the Cedar Park area and I ve been to 4 theatres and this one was the worst one. The screen is smaller. The auditorium seating is outdated. Concessions is over priced. Tickets are especially overpriced. The only reason it gets one star is because it sometimes gets the movies I want to see a week early. However, now I ve been here, I d rather wait a week or drive a few extra miles to see any movie elsewhere.

Great!

POOR PROJECTION QUALITY: We saw Moonlight at the Arbor on 11-6-16. It was difficult to view the film because the projector light was so low. We complained to staff who said there was nothing they could do. The following Friday we again saw the film at the Violet Crown Cinema where the light quality was excellent and we enjoyed the film. Theater companies are saving money by using lower wattage projection bulbs. This will cost them patrons.

I love that they generally have indie/art house movies as opposed to popular block busters. However, on most occasions, usually on a weekday afternoon, people rudely talk throughout the movie. I've changed seats to get away from conversations that go on intermittently during the entire movie. It's so distracting, and has ruined several movie experiences for me. Maybe management could keep a closer eye on this and help reduce this aggravation. Other than that, I enjoy the variety of movies shown there.

I go to Regal about once a week! The movies are great, as well as every person who works there! But I was disappointed when I got back in the country recently and saw that the tickets had gone up to over $9. (It's putting a strain on my Jr Mint budget!) I'm a Senior and that's putting a crunch on my afternoon movie delight. I'm looking around at prices around town now. I can't help but think more people would come if prices were better!

Both my daughters worked at the Regal as teenagers, so it's kind of a family affair! Thanks for the tradition!

I'm spoiled to Westgate Regal's awesome electric big comfy reclining leather chairs and all the room between rows! Arbor 8 may have theaters with these chairs but the theater we sat in tonight did not.

Plus number one, they take MoviePass. Plus number two, this is one of a few theaters that will play movies other theaters in Austin won't. Please don't bulldoze the Arbor to make way for more apartments. This theater benefits my quality of life. Save the Arbor!

Ole fashioned theater with an artsy decor. Not overwhelming and alot of modernization overflow.ike the Metropolitan without having to drive all the way to south Austin congestion. Small escape to north from south.

Once you've been to the Almo, there is no going back. We have gone only once, to see Finding Dori, and will never return. There was talking and cell phone usage during the movie. People were chomping on popcorn and being rude. The chairs are uncomfortable and the place is overall dirty.

Sometimes it's the only theater showing the movie you wanna see, so there's no choice. However, it's always at least a bit uncomfortable. The seats need a serious upgrade, as it's impossible to get comfortable, and the screen is rather small. Staff is nice though.....

Haven't watched the full movie yet but so far it's a pretty unique theatre. I never got her name but the lady that tore our tickets at the entrance, she was sitting, was awesome! She definitely made my night! I hope she stays around!
