My husband & I went to dinner here last weekend for Hudson Valley Restaurant Week. Servers were all very attentive. The food was delicious. The restaurant is in an old warehouse and has a nice open feel to it. It's situated right on the water and they have some outdoor patio area. We plan on going back in the Spring to dine outside near the water.
We went for brunch today with a 12:30 reservation. This was my first time there. The view and decor were nice, and the service was very good - Amore was our server. My blood orange martini was very tasty. I ordered the breakfast sandwich from the brunch menu. It was OK - the poached egg was overcooked and tasted more like a hard boiled egg. There was only a few tiny bits of Canadian bacon. The smoked salmon and croissant were tasty and the fries were hot and crispy. My lady ordered the French toast. It arrived burnt. She returned it and awaited a replacement. The replacement came just as burnt. She told Amore that it was inedible. She took it back and a gentleman came to our table a few minutes later. Amore told us he was the owner (Jimmy?). He said that was how they have been preparing the meal for 10 years. We told him it was burnt and inedible. He left without another word. Of course we were not charged for the meal but our experience was extremely tainted.
Spoofed my name to create a rating. I would suggest this fake rating is removed
Lousy overpriced food... the chicken sandwich was so tough and dried out it could only be imagined to be food.. And the outside seating suffered greatly from improper umbrella placement.... had to sacrifice my corneas to look west towards the water and into the afternoon sun...
Great location, great atmosphere. Cocktail list is well done, and all our meals there have been excellent. Definitely going back.
oh what a lovely, deservedly popular place for a relaxing visit with friends... frenchified americana, well prepared, pleasantly served
Place is lovely and atmosphere wonderful. Hostess very welcoming and accommodating, however, the service was not good. The waitress kept forgetting about us. Had to ask the busboys to find her, get our drinks, bring bread, etc. Unless you like your steaks rare do not order one as the Chef apparently refuses to cook your steak to your liking. Had to send it back twice and both times it came back just as rare as when it first was served to us. Food is mediocre. Would suggest going for drinks and sandwiches when you can sit outside.
City views in the far distance, river frontage. Steak frites is supposed to be their signature dish, but mine was too fatty. Furthermore the fries were significantly over cooked on top of that they were all small pieces instead of long fries.
Overall, a good experience and good food. However, the team needs to communicate better and have food more readily available.
I had to pick my third option of dinner because they were out of the first two options. Specials were sold out but the server offered it to me. Just some communication would ve fixed it.
Bustling crowd at lunchtime. Make reservations in advance if a group is anticipated. Varied selection of appetizers and entrees to choose. Yummy desserts to cap off the meal. Let them know if you have any dietary needs, they're very accommodating. Wonderful for casual and special occasions. Lovely views of Hudson River from within, upstairs or street levels and at the river front. Moderate pricing.
Nice French food and a view of the Hudson River with Tapanzee Bridge and part of New York City during a clear day.
Great service!! Mynor was an awesome, attentive & patient server. Made celebrating my birthday here really special. Drinks & food were good too!
I went to the Red Hat for my birthday I had such a great time. The food was good the service was excellent and the view was beautiful. I highly recommend it
Waited 45 minutes in a long line outside. Then waited 1hour and 30 minutes for the food. The fries came fried and the waiter stated that s how they cook them. After we ate for 11 minutes they removed the plates and brought the check. I understand it s corona virus time but we are actually sitting outside. I will never spend my money in this place. Thank god it was a 125 dollar gift card. The view it s nice the food and the service are not.
Sat outside at the end of the day. Perfect Friday after work. Menu is a little pricey. Service was good.
Nice location on the Hudson in a restored industrial building. Great food outstanding steaks, crab cakes, salads
Had wonderful meal, pork chop with a apple bread pudding.
Excellent service and atmosphere. Delightful dishes!
Delicious food, staff and waiters are very attentive. but way too expensive for canned pasta.
I love this place. Great service- good food. My dad thinks it s too expensive and that it jumped the shark. It was cooler when no one knew about it but I still love this place. Get there 20 min before sunset and bring your wallet.
I thought this place was just another bistro type bar. I was very wrong. One of the best meals I've had in Westchester county. Good, well trained staff, attentive, food that arrived hot and perfectly cooked, wide range of choices on the menu, this on a busy week end night. A bit too loud, but upstairs was more quiet and you could still see the river.
My sister and I had brunch here and absolutely LOVED it! They view over the Hudson was magnificent -- and the food was fabulous.
A little pricey, but nice outdoor seating in the summer. Right on the river.
Rude wait staff. Long wait for service. Overrated!!!
Great brunch & river views. Lots of great desserts.
Great food and romantic atmosphere. Great for a first date. Pretty spot right near the river and good spot for a summer evening. Haven't been in a while but I'm due for a visit!
Location and outdoor seating atmosphere is spectacular. Service was slow, but was Ok with it because we were not in a rush. Food was a disappointment.
I reserved 2 seats for my wife and I literally 1hr before going and was able to get a great seat for our birthday celebration. The food was perfect! One of the best burgers I had in a long time. They paid attention and actually gave me a medium cooked burger with aged cheddar. The fries were also perfectly cooked nice n crispy. My wife's salad was fresh and nicely portioned. My favorite part are the little warm up snacks they provide before and after your meal. A nice little touch to the classy interior and wonderful views of the Hudson River. Keep in mind this was winter time, I will definitely be coming back this summer to enjoy that rooftop deck.
All about the view - This place has one of the most beautiful views in Westchester. But this is it. Food is not good at all. Service just so so.
The restaurant is located in a beautiful place. It was great to eat delicious food while watching the river view! The meat and vegetables were fresh and the plating was also taken care of. All the foods you ordered are delicious on average, so you'll find them again.
Great food and service, perfect place for a two-Manhattan lunch. I will definitely return.
Great food and service. Perfect place for breakfast in the summer.
Lovely place , romantic , and the food is amazing!!
So came here for a birthday dinner and I was really happy. I had read bad reviews but still went and have no idea what other people s issue was. Sat outside and it was a great evening. Speedy time to sit, food came out at a good pace. I don t mind the time between ordering and it coming out, often it comes out to fast, you feel like your being rushed, but this was good. Food was wonderful. And the service was very friendly.
French food, quality stuff. Got there near five, it wasn't very busy. Certainly worth a return trip.
One of the best restaurants I have been to. The service was phenomenal and the food matched! The short rib bourguignon was the best I have had. The grilled salmon and asparagus was great. Topped it off with 2 delicious cocktails- espresso martini and a pear cocktail - and desert - chocolate pistachio pot de creme and gelato/sorbet was amazing. Highly recommending this place for a relaxing dining experience or a romantic date... with the indoor and outdoor seating, water views and beautiful decor...
Love this place!!! Awesome food and amazing friendly staff, can't wait to go back next year!!! Best service in restaurant that I have ever experienced Veronica was our waitress and took great care of us.
Other than the ambiance the restaurant has no redeeming quality. The food is marginal at best and portions are small. The menu is very limited in its selection and a bit disjointed. Overall a very poor dining experience.
Love this restaurant! Dine there frequently Great food! Great location (seating along the Hudson River)! One caveat: It's listed as a FRENCH restaurant, but it is not.
TRIED TO BOOK A RESERVATION FOR 7 PEOPLE AND THE PERSON ON THE END OF THE PHONE WAS NASTY. THEY KEPT TRYING TO TELL US TO CALL AN INVENT PLANNER. THEN THEY SAID WE DON'T HAVE ROOM FOR YOU ANYWAY WHEN WE SAID ALL WE WANT TO DO IS HAVE DINNER. SHITY SERVICE.
Celebrated my first wedding anniversary here. It was perfect, we were seated very quickly, food arrived timely and all was delicious!
Best service and staff I've encountered in a long talk me. The ambiance speaks for itself. Creative dishes that were very tasty
It was good, great ambiance on the rooftop, try to make it there before it gets colder.
Odd find a m the Hudson River but a experience. It wasn't outdoor weather but inside was warm and welcoming. Food for brunch was diverse and not limited to typical brunch offerings. Wait staff was attentive and warm. We were very happy arranging for an 8 person get together and will visit more often. Reasonably priced for Westchester, casual, and a pleasant meal. Can't wait for better weather so we can done Al Fresco.
Great views and wonderful service. Dinner was such a joy.
Warm atmosphere, seriousness and responsibility with the reservation! Excellent river view!
Good food, great atmosphere, friendly staff and all at a good price.
The service was great but they changed the menu i dont think i like it but that is just me
The service was awesome - staff were very friendly and accommodating. We sat upstairs, which has a great, semi private feel to it. The seafood appetizers and entrees were delicious. The burger was ok. The drinks were good, as well. I'm assuming the view is great during the day. We went in the evening, so it was a bit too dark to enjoy it thoroughly.
One of my favorite restaurants in the river towns. In the summer arrive early and grab a drink at the rooftop bar for spectacular views of the Hudson River.
Great tasting food and a good selection of beer. Right on the river , so ideal for an after meal stroll. Worth the visit.
The atmosphere is uniquely inviting, the view even better of course. Had the hanger steak and grilled salmon for my lady; decent portions and for the price the taste makes it all up. Definitely would recommend and come again.
Great food, wine and ambience. Super attentive staff, great location (waterside).
Went to a Wedding at Red Hat.
Done in the most elegant taste.
Food is great
Staff on top everything. Could not ask for better service. My wife and I had fish witch was cooked the way it was supposed to be
.
great view of the hudson, great bar outside and upstairs, food can be very special
It was packed on the Saturday night when we went here. Lucky we had reservations. The food was mediocre, friendly staff, good service. Pricey for what you get. It's not Manhattan, but they are priced lije it is. Very pretty setting directly on the Hudson River. If the evening is comfortable, eat outside.
The location, like the name says, is on the Hudson river. It was already dark but watching the massive islands of ice travel down the river was a sight to see. I would love to go back during the summer and eat outside.
The staff was knowledgeable and the timing of the courses was on point. It was cold outside, so I ordered the onion soup. It was good. My companion had a beet salad with fresh mozzarella, fennel and blood grapefruit. She had a positive physical reaction while the waitress described the salad and it didn't disappoint. It was a great layering of textures and taste.
For our mains, she had the scallops and I had moules and frites. Everything was done to perfection! The scallops were perfectly pan fried and the white wine sauce on my mussels was so good that I was soaking the french fries.
My eating companion ordered a glass of red but didn't really enjoy it. The server told us that the wine list was listed by light to dark. She chose the second on the list to get a light red but it was strong and dry. I can't imagine what the bottom of the list would be like. I actually ordered a mixed drink from there menu. I believe it was called "the black bear". It was strong and delicious! It was bourbon with black berries I believe.
Great food, great location!
You will not find a more fabulous place than this. The food was the best I've had in a long time. I will be back for more. Hopefully tomorrow!
The staff was attentive and provided information regarding the menu with detail.
First time here and will be back again! Thank you!
Can't beat it for a sunset dinner with a view of the Hudson. Excellent fish dishes.
The view and atmosphere were nice, but the food was lacking in taste and quality for the high prices we paid.
Our service was extremely slow as well when we went on a busy summer night.
Went here for restaurant week and although the food was delicious, (had the onion soup, quinoa burger, and ice cream sandwich), the waitress was less than sub par. She took more than 10 minutes to come and take our order after handing us the menu, and it was not busy. 430pm on a Sunday. Also, when she dropped the entrees off and came back to ask if everything was ok, she never came back. Not to say dessert was coming out (I had to notify another waitress), not to give the check to us (because I asked the aame waitress that I talked to about dessert), and not to say thank you, goodbye, or anything. I should've known from the beginning she was going to do less than a stellar job. The worst part was she talked to EVERY SINGLE table around us, and each time she walked by ours she didn't even look over. It felt as if she was purposely ignoring us. The other staff, the server boys, and the other waitress that helped, were all nice but this one waitress pretty much ruined the whole experience on what is supposedly a 4 star and above restaurant.
Very good location. Sits on the river bank. Good bar and good menu.
A bit pricey. And veeeeery loud inside. So, I would not recommend this for business dinner or a date.
However, that is okay in summary time when they have outside sitting (in high demand though).
Upfront reservations recommended.
I'm only putting a star because it's the lowest I can go. I wasn't sure if the ravioli I was eating came from the kitchen or a Chef Boyardee can. The service was ok, but way too expensive for canned pasta. I had duck as well, the sauce was more bitter than my ex and the duck died at least 4 times.
Never thought a non-vegan restaurant could give me such great tasting vegan food. Great service too
Beautiful place for outdoor dining and food is delicious.
Wonderful location on the banks of the Hudson with a terrace and roofdeck overlooking the river, with good food and drinks.
one of the best foods in Westchester. always nice and comfortable with services
Our first outing to a proper sit-down restaurant after over 5 months of lockdown (thanks, China)... the new normal defined a new fun experience for us about 20 miles north of New York City in beautiful Irvington. Check their website for up to date business hours. They put up a weekly schedule.
Social distancing in effect, which means, carry your masks. No masks, no entry! The restaurant is taking every precaution to make sure they don't contribute to any more outbreaks. Beverages are served in glasses but the food is served in recyclable to-go boxes. All servers and staff wear masks at all times, and plenty of places where hand sanitizer dispensers are available. At times it still feels frustrating to accept this new normal, especially with my little 9-month old, who I wonder is consuming this new normal in his own unique way?
We ordered a bottle of red (Joseph Drouhin, LaForet, Burgundy, France @ 40), and some snacks, Zucchini fries @ $10 and Redhat fries @ 9. The Zucchini fries were really good, although the portion size was slightly smaller!
I'd definitely recommend this place for their food, excellent service, and some beautiful views!
Perfect for a romantic dinner. Beautiful view. Food is very good. I will dine there again soon
Along the Hudson River with Spectacular views sits the Red Hat serving up American French cuisine. Delightful luncheon, moderate pricing, service attentive. Would like to see a price fixe luncheon menu. Post lunch we sat River side in Adirondack chairs and took in the sun and views of the Tappan Zee Bridge. Wonderful
Good food with big bright windows on to the Hudson River. Love the moules frites, their salads are good, and the crab cake was creative and tasty, topped with seaweed salad.
Love this place! Food was excellent, impeccable service and great views
This has become my girlfriend and my go-to place since we moved to Tarrytown. Red Hat has excellent food, and good service. Anywhere you sit, you'll get a good view of the river- the back walls are lined with mirrors, so you can look over your date's shoulder and see the view she's looking at if you want to. They don't take reservations for outdoor seating, but you can catch a great sunset view from indoors as well. Seasonally, the rooftop bar is wonderful.
Good food and service. Tuna tartar appetizer was delicious. Skirt steak and fries is a solid choice. Caesar salad is good however if you don't like a lot of dressing you may want to tell them that as by default you get a lot. Nice view as well.
My family chose this place for Thanksgiving, and I knew it was the right place as soon as I walked in. We were greeted by two lovely hostess's and were immediately taken upstairs to our table. The room and the view were sensational, and a very busy place. One of our servers brought us menus and a wine list, which we ordered from. The meal began; lovely first courses with crusty rolls. The turkey dinners were to die for, as well as one short rib entrees. We ate and ate, and were not rushed. Many servers would check on us periodically. Dessert was fab, I had the creme caramel. We lingered for about 21/2 hours just enjoying everything. When we left we walked to the river and had the most glorious sunset to end our perfect day. I absolutely will go back at Thanksgiving or any other occasion. To all the staff at Red Hat, thank you for a memorable experience.
