Had a family member pass away had to briefly quit school to arrange funeral. They charged me for my full tuition and then some provided no accommodations at all for bereavement. Staff was very rude. The graduation status of the college is 57% we know why the staff is unprofessional and do not know what they are doing. This is not a real college. Seek a education with a real establishment.

Simply put Ranken provided me with the tools and knowledge to make a career doing something I generally enjoy.
Their goal is to prepare you for the work force. There is a dress code, a strict attendance policy and a work ethic policy. In the work force all of these things will play a factor in your success or dismissal.
I've personally never seen anyone fail on the work ethic portion. You have to have a pretty bad attitude to get hit on that. This is not a community college where you show up at your leisure, make lots of friends, play frisbee and party.
The 2006-2008 electrical dept had several really good instructors. I doubt they are there now but the NEC Code, AC/DC theory & labs classes, and CAD class were all phenomenal. Props to Ron Ettling for taking the time to ensure we had a firm grasp of electrical theory at the beginning of the program. I still refer to his "how to eat an elephant" and "KISS" analogies.
The skills and knowledge I acquired while at Ranken was a good start to multiple careers that have been good to me. I would not consider myself rich by any means but my family is comfortable. We have 2 kids with college funds started, house in a decent suburb and a couple motorcycles in the garage.
Like with any career they aren't going to hand you the keys to success. You have to take it serious, show up on time, study and put in the work. It is whatever you make of it.

I heard so many great things about Ranken and wanted to go there, which I did. Unfortunately, things weren't going well/working out, so I only attended for a semester. I did the architecture program. I thought I would like Ranken and architecture, but I was wrong and was not happy with my major and the way things were going. It was a waste of my money, so I'm glad I made the right decision to leave after my first semester of my only year. If you go to Ranken, be careful to pick your major, and to especially make sure you don't waste your money. It goes to show that Ranken isn't for everyone.

Miserable communication and organization. Didn t send me any useful information until a month after I reached out and it was already the week of class and was too late. Not sure if I will ever go back.

Bryan Hicklin was my teacher when I went to school here. I still believe him to be one of the greatest teachers and mentors I ve had in my lifetime. I went to school here in 2009 for Carpentry and Building Construction Technology. This is a great university with brilliant educators. The only con I can think of was the attendance policy s threat over you being kicked out of the program for missing 6 days.

This school is overpriced and redundant. It does not take an individual 2 years to become entry level proficient in things like automotive maintenance, carpentry, building maintenance, diesel mechanic etc ...Gateway Community College in Phoenix Arizona has all of these programs(6 months only!!) great teachers and paid on the job training after you finish your classes . Leave st.louis if you really aspire to do something with your life in less than 10 years.
