My mother unfortunately has had to have additional care after falls and illnesses. The Ramsey village is a nice facility with excellent staff. The are always communicating to make sure the family is involved. Sarah the social worker has gone above and beyond to help with important requests. I highly recommend.

My mom spent 2 weeks here for stroke rehab. She was rarely moved or encouraged to do things for herself. She got a bedsore in those 2 weeks. She ended up getting kicked out because she didn't meet the Medicare goals. So my sister took her home. She ended up being placed in hospice 3 days later. The good news is she was in a beautiful hospice facility with amazing care. They even healed her bedsore? How? They treated it AND they repositioned her every 2 hours. I am grateful she left Ramsey. Awful care!!

After much research and many visits to other facilities to find a quality living apartment for dad, Ramsey ended up checking all the boxes for now and in the future. I feel he is getting the best care possible by a outstanding staff that makes it a comfortable and safe environment. I talk to him daily and trust me he would tell me if he wasn't happy. The management team are quick to respond and if I need a question answered they care for the residents like they are family. Thank you to all the staff for taking care of my dad.

Wrote this review and they deleted it so here it is again. (Delete this one and I'll just keep reposting it.)

My dad suffered a stroke in June due to COVID complications. He spent two months at Methodist in ICU and received different therapies. His left side was responding and beginning to activate, but due to Medicaid he had to leave Yonkers. He wasn't capable of returning home yet so we transferred him to Ramsey Village.

He was there a little over two weeks before I had him removed. He received one bath his entire time there. His teeth weren't brushed a single time he was there. We noticed is teeth were out in a Facetime and asked the staff to help find them. He was bedridden...they couldn't have gone far. After repeated requests they were located two days later under his nightstand. There are other unacceptable things I'm not even going to add for dignity reasons.

In his therapy he actually went backwards. His left side quit working and the therapists both admitted they had no idea why it was happening and also informed us that he was at the peak of his recovery and would no longer improve.

Two weeks after leaving Ramsey my dad received a forecast of using a walker by Christmas. His left side re-activated. He is walking with the aid of a brace and walker. He has improved by leaps and bounds.

If you want to find a place to spend your latter years and are independent in health needs then Ramsey is for you. If you want to improve and go back to your old life and return home you won't fit their business model.

I would never have sent him here if I knew then what I knew after the fact.

My review in no was reflects the staff as a whole, most are great. However, the Director not so much. She never seems to be in her office, doesn t return calls, and doesn t seem to care about the patients. I m going to start looking for another nursing home for my mother. I am over the run around with her, and at this point the only way I would feel comfortable with my mother staying there is if the director is replaced.

The care she has received has been great, nursing care is amazing, most of the directors are wonderful. The social worker makes my day. The woman at the front desk is lovely. But the Director is severely lacking what the rest of them seem to have, and that just doesn t sit right with me or my family.

Ramsey Village has incredible long term staff who all love what they do. They have a terrific management company as evidenced by the loyalty of the staff. It is definitely the "best kept secret in Des Moines!" I would love to show it to you!

My 84-year-old mother has had to come to Ramsey several times after a stroke/seizure or other medical issue since 2017, and every time the staff care for her and improve her quality of life with therapy. She has become friends with the staff and has even decided that if I have to leave for a short time, she will return to Ramsey for Respite Care. From the meals to the top-notch staff of therapists, we have no complaints. She would post herself, but her stroke makes it difficult to type. In her own words, she thanks "...all of the staff and especially the ones that helped me to get well to learn to walk better and to get my talking better. I would never go to any place except to Ramsey as they have the best place around here." This last visit was difficult at best due to current pandemic of COVID-19. She had spent 2 weeks in the hospital after her seizure without anyone to help her so when she went and spent 3 weeks at Ramsey, it lifted her spirits because she was anxious to begin the work of getting stronger and visit with her friends. Not every day is rainbows and unicorns, but Ramsey does their best every day to make it that way for their residents. The staff are passionate about their work and it shows in their efforts.

The community has welcomed us warmly. Everyone has been caring in word and deed. All are treated as family irregardless of socioeconomic status. We've learned that Ramsey Village is a not for profit five star healthcare facility too.
