About Ragazzi boys chorus
Ragazzi Boys Chorus: The Premier Bay Area Boys Chorus
For over 30 years, Ragazzi Boys Chorus has been the premier boys chorus in the San Francisco Bay Area. With locations in Redwood City, San Mateo, and Palo Alto, Ragazzi offers vocal instruction and musical education to boys ages 5-18.
The mission of Ragazzi is to provide a comprehensive music education that develops musicianship, teamwork, self-discipline, and leadership skills. Through their programs, boys learn not only how to sing but also how to read music and understand music theory.
Ragazzi's curriculum is designed to meet the needs of each individual boy. They offer a variety of programs for different age groups and skill levels. Their programs include:
- Preparatory Chorus (ages 5-7): This program introduces young boys to singing through games and activities that teach basic musical concepts.
- Training Chorus (ages 7-10): This program focuses on developing vocal technique and reading skills.
- Concert Group (ages 10-14): This program provides more advanced training in vocal technique and music theory.
- Young Men's Ensemble (ages 14+): This program is for older boys with changing voices who are ready for more challenging repertoire.
- Alumni Group: This group is open to former members of Ragazzi who want to continue singing after they age out of the regular programs.
In addition to their regular programs, Ragazzi also offers summer camps where boys can immerse themselves in music for a week or two. These camps provide an intensive learning experience that helps students make significant progress in their musical development.
One unique aspect of Ragazzi's curriculum is their focus on choral literature from around the world. Through singing songs from different cultures and languages, boys gain an appreciation for diversity while also improving their language skills.
Ragazzi has performed at many prestigious venues throughout the Bay Area including Davies Symphony Hall, Stanford University's Memorial Church, Grace Cathedral in San Francisco, among others. They have also toured internationally with performances in Europe and Asia.
The benefits of participating in a choir like Ragazzi go beyond just learning how to sing. Boys who participate develop important life skills such as teamwork, self-discipline, leadership abilities which will serve them well throughout their lives regardless if they pursue careers related or unrelated with music industry.
