Honestly, most of the exhibitions were not very interesting and it was hard to keep a child's attention to physics and mechanics. But there are some nice interactive things like an orchestra were the kid may play a conductor and by waving a baton he influences the tempo of playing very well known pieces of music. It was a great fun and actually my kids loved this the most. There are also some games based on kinect (gestures recognition). Overall I would recommend visiting this place with kids.

I am deliberately only evaluating the district and not the associated museums.
There are nice little shops, bars, seating and free WiFi.
The 5th star would be there if there were more shady trees here.

More culture in every square meter than anywhere else in the world? This whole area is full of museums and galleries, all within walking distance, and all pretty amazing in their own way. Special note to the Natural History Museum where you could easily spend a whole day wandering around the exhibits. On the downside, it's all very expensive - unless you are under 19 in which case it's free - and expect a lot of queuing if you don't get there first thing in the morning...

Fab but don't go to the Leopold on a Tuesday as it's closed and a lot of guides do not mention this ! What was worse we went back on Thursday and bought tickets at the ticket office in the complex as desperately wanted to see that Schieles and Klimts only to be told when we arrived at the Leopold that the Schieles and Klimts were not on show as they were being prepared for an exhibition ...gutted ! However , the Wow exhibition was on and man it blew us away as so every cloud has a silver lining ! More famous modern art than you could shake a stick at ..amazing !

One of the most casual "Christmas markets" in Vienna. Emphasis on ChristKIND!
Nothing dusty!
Young, personable, many tents that invite you to stay even in moderately tingling weather.
It's fine there.

Also nice place 2 be.
