The Pulse Memorial is a reminder of the innocent lives, hopes, and dreams that were tragically cut short. It is also a demonstration of the love and support that the LGBQT community has amongst itself and those that love them. My husband brought me, and our young adult children to the site. It's definitely so much more to see and understand in person.

Quick visit to the memorial before leaving Florida. I signed in on the digital kiosk which was hard to read at first. (Look closer to the bottom of the screen.) Doing my part to fund the new permanent memorial, ordered a shirt online.

One year later and I haven't forgotten about you. My thoughts, prayers and love are still being sent your way. I will never forget even though I've never been to Pulse and I didn't know any of the innocent victims. Together we WILL change OUR country to one of tolerance and acceptance for EVERYONE. Keep the faith even though it's hard and know there is a LOT of people thinking about everyone involved.

I cannot say enough how moving this memorial is. Even though it is an interim memorial, it is well done and respectfully honors those lost, as well as their family members, survivors, and allies. We went at night and were grateful to see security present and it is very well lit. If you can go and not be moved to tears, you are probably not human. There are lots of pictures to represent the outpouring of support following the massacre, as well as items and pictures to honor those lost that night. There is a kiosk to sign a guestbook and donate if you would like (please do). There are also designated boards and sharpies to write you own message, attached directly to the Pulse sign. If in Orlando, this is about 30 mins or less from most major attractions so take the time to go see this. You will not be disappointed.

Regardless of your belief system, don't feed inequality. The mural at the Pulse was inspiring and a testimony to perseverance of good people in the face of the violent pushback to equal rights for all. Keep your head up Orlando.

This a beautiful memorial and very well kept. You hear about it on the news and the moment gets lost in all the other news for the day. Visiting this memorial really put things into perspective for me on just how real this was and how many people and families suffered and are still suffering becuase of it! God bless all the victims, families and anyone affected by this tragedy. You are all loved!

Pros! very clean, nice atmosphere, great music, nice crowd, real glass cups, strong drinks. CONS! little parking (get there early). My experience: Upon arriving we drove 3 blocks away to get parking, however, I experienced a great drag show, was teased by the sexy male dancers, and befriended by many people. Overall I had a great experience... Until I looked at my bank statement and saw i was over charged for 1 drink. I guess Juan decided to give himself an extra tip against my consent because the receipt I have doesn't match mine. Moreover, he kept my credit card for several minutes and gave everyone else back theirs even after I asked for mine back multiple times... It makes me wonder. But next time I go back I will PAY ALL DRINKS WITH CASH!!!! and I would advise everyone else to do the same.

So many heart felt messages left behind. It's worth stopping by to see. The building it self was not accessible but you can walk around the front parking lot and read the messages of love from other visitors.

A beautiful memorial where you can visit to see the many faces and tributes. The staff is friendly and I look forward to seeing the museum in the inside when finished. My cousin and I got the chance to make a donation and purchase T-shirt s to help keep awareness to the tragedy and the various oth mass gun shootings that this can happen anywhere even in your backyard.
I would also like the opportunity to donate my time to help this memorial site continue to be a memorial and keep the 49 lives memories alive.

I went there and it is now a memorial site closed off with flowers everywhere. I didn't think much about what had happened until I stepped foot at pulse. I could only imagine what those people went through that night. After that, i now respect and honor the LGBT people. This sight completly changed my mindset.

The stillness is the first thing one notices as you walk upon the interim memorial.

As you come closer to the building, there is a shift as if hate is still trying to win.

Yet, with each and every heartbeat of Love visited upon THIS sacred ground, the parents with their children and friends and family still weeping at the loss, I am comforted.

I hope all who visit will feel, the 50 Angels from Pulse AND THE SCHOOL CHILDREN, who die violently at the hands of gunmen, GUIDING US IN SAYING, VERY LOUDLY IN ORLANDO AND OUTWARD,

LOVE WILL WIN.

I think it is time for a MOMMA Revolution!

I appreciated the memorial, but like every museum attempting to benefit from social injustice and tragedies, this tends to reach people post haste. Not a Donnie-downer but isn't there a better way to reach people before situations like this happen. Use funds to eliminate tax exemption on bigoted Pastors and those preaching hate and social intolerance. Let's be frank, Jesus was a left leaning liberal, he loved all people and NOT a hater. To many young liberals today are tragically misinformed of his life and message by right leaning conservatives.

The Pulse was a nightclub frequented by the LGBT c...

The Pulse was a nightclub frequented by the LGBT community. It opened in 2004 in Orlando Florida. On June 12, 2016, 49 people were killed and 53 people were injured by a lone gunman. Most of the victims were Hispanic because the club was hosting a Latin night. At the time of the incident it was the deadliest mass shooting in the US only to be surpassed by Las Vegas a year later.

After the tragedy there was a lot of discussion about what to do with the Pulse. Barbara Poma, the owner of the Pulse first planned to sell the property to the city of Orlando. When negotiations over the deal stalled she decided to keep it and founded the OnePulse Foundation in 2017. Barbara has announced plans to turn the Pulse into a memorial and museum which she hopes to open in 2020. She has gone to both Oklahoma and New York to get ideas for how the memorial will look.

What is on the site now is a temporary memorial. After the shooting the city of Orlando paid to have a new smaller fence placed around the nightclub. The original fence was broken when first responders went through it to access the back of the club at the time of the incident. Covering the fence are pictures of the Orlando community coming together to honor the victims. At the memorial there is also a list of the names of the victims, an electronic guest book, and mementos and art work people have left behind.

If you want to visit the memorial you have to park on the street. Area businesses have erected signs warning people not to park in their lots. The site is monitored by a security guard paid for by the foundation. Visiting the memorial is a very emotional experience. Especially after having the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting happen in my own community on February 14, 2018. Gay, straight, man, woman, child, nationality, sitting in a church, or attending a concert, or a movie, or a nightclub, or a college, or a high school, none of it matters when a mass shooting happens in your community. Those people are your friends, family, neighbors, and co workers. Even though the memorial is temporary it does not look that way. It is very thoughtful and conveys the message that love triumphs hate. It is important to have a permanent place where the community can gather to mourn the loss of the bright and vibrant people who were taken in the prime of their lives by a senseless act of violence. My heart is with Orlando and all of those affected by the Pulse tragedy.

A sacred place to remember the 49 people who were lost on 6/12/16 at Pulse nightclub. My best friend, Chris Brodman, was the first survivor to pass away 3 months later of a brain aneurysm. He was a hero that night, saving 2 lives by pushing them over the back fence before escaping himself. He is deeply loved and missed by all who knew him.

This temporary memorial is special. At once both heartbreaking and full of hope and love. A sobering reminder of an unspeakable act of hate, but also a testament to the much greater strength of community and the need for action to ensure things like this do not continue to happen.
