As a graduate from PA, I would recommend this school to anyone. The coursework in high school is very college oriented and helps prepare for college in the best of ways. The school is a great learning environment and I wouldn't trade my time there for anything.

I moved to Little Rock my sophomore year of high school, and had gone to public school my entire life beforehand. I was welcomed with open arms by the students there, many of whom had gone there their entire lives, and made some of the best friends I've ever had. Those three years at PA were more enjoyable--socially--than any public school I had gone to. It was like going back to the carefree days of elementary school. It was also much more challenging academically, and the AP classes are especially intense.

The small class experience, along with the community spirit that supports athletics there, gives students good opportunities to take the lead and pursue what they want to do. I would even compare one literature class to a Dead Poets Society type classroom dynamic. The arts and drama department was certainly on the backburner in my time at PA but it looks like they've expanded the campus there.

All I can say is: it may actually be better to have your kids NOT go to PA, especially their senior year, because it will outshine their college experience! I love PA and miss it often, and I was the antisocial, quiet, weird type. My friends there helped bring me out of my shell and it was a tremendous blessing.

Having been a part of the Pulaski Academy community for over 30 years, I wouldn't choose any other school for our children. The faculty/staff are top notch, and the educational experiences that PA cultivates are unrivaled. The Core Values that PA upholds truly make it a place of excellence, and it has just gotten better each year for my family.

As an alumni, I wondered what it would be like coming back as a parent. I also figured I would have to drag my public-school loving husband along for the ride. He was so blown away that he may be rivaling my Bruin spirit. There is definitely a family feel and the teachers truly care for the students, many of whom have taught 2 generations of Bruins. DO NOT listen to those who tell you it is a snobby place; my daughter transfered in for her 5th grade year and felt like she had been there her whole life. I am proud to be a Pulaski Academy Alumni AND parent.

Hands down without a doubt , the best place parents could send their child for an education. The faculty, staff & teachers truly go far and beyond their job to provide an excellent safe place conducived to learning not only academicly, but as well as hellping children develop both in strong character and individualality; where honor, respect, pride, and integrity are some of the core fundamentals that truly makes this school by far the best from any other.

Both my sons attended PA until their 8th grade year. They where sent to Catholic High thier 9th grade year and sadly we realized all the years at PA was a total waste of time and money. Academically the boys where not challenged the teachers at PA give grades that are NOT earned. Catholic High will not give a grade if a child did not earn it this makes the kids accountable. Academically PA will not offer a better education just padded grades to make the school have a higher ranking.

Pulaski Academy has been an excellent environment for our son who started at PA in preschool. Every year we are welcomed by all of his new teachers and given clear expectations on what's to come.

What we weren't prepared for was to watch a little boy turn into a young man, responsible for his own grades and education, seemingly overnight.
There's no question he is being prepared for college and beyond and we are so happy we place him at PA.

This is a cautionary review for those looking to enroll their child in Pulaski Academy. First, let me preface this by saying that the school based solely on academics is decent. The children are not under educated by any sense of the word. However, I've felt that on several occasions that grades were given much too easily, and children were given far too many "passes" on unsatisfactory assignments. Although this is a private school so of course they only have themselves to answer to.

My biggest concern with this school is exactly what may attract some families to it. This school has been known to be a "country club with books and chalk boards". Not all but the majority of the parents seem to be "aloof" to those who are not within the "circle" of Little Rock social life. The saddest consequence of this is that this behavior trickles down directly into the children. Some families avoid this school due to extremely heavy bullying and mistreatment from students who feel they are "above" other students. Now, we know that things such as this occur at quite a few private schools around the country. However, some of these other private schools boast extremely impressive teaching staff and alums go on to attend stellar colleges.

PA boasts neither of these. Some in state public schools beat Pulaski Academy handily within this realm. Therefore for the money and quality of education, you can find far more quality private schools in the capital city. Many more with better staff, and most of all a more welcoming community of parents and students.

PA has been such a blessing for my family. One of my kids has had some learning and developmental issues that were identified and patiently dealt with by the staff there. I don't think things would have been handled half as well in the public school system.

I also appreciate the diversity of opportunities at PA. Whether your child is a jock/artist/nerd/drama nut/budding scientist, there is a place for him here. No one area of learning is discounted in favor of another.

The PA families also reflect diversity. There is a wide variety of religions, races, incomes, nationalities, and backgrounds represented in the student body. Anyone who would tell you differently hasn't spent much time there recently.

Besides being a parent, I'm also a regular substitute for all grades at PA. I see for myself the level of skill and commitment of the teachers there. They challenge the students, and demand a lot from them, but they also care deeply about them. When I spend time in the high school classrooms, I see the result of this. I see young men and women who are bright, well-rounded, respectful, and happy. That's all I need to see to know that PA is an excellent choice for my family.
