My husband sat there and waited 5 hours in pain before he was seen. That would never happen a regular hospital in the area. I just don't understand it.

They have no mental health staff of color which hilarious because providence is pretty deverse.
The doctors are here to collect checks. But as veteran you should expect to get MEDIOCRE health care at best.
The nurses are great though cool people.
Horrible service. They will not help you get blood work done if you just want to get checked for STDs or diseases. The receptionist on the phone informed me that they only do blood work to those who have been exposed to the disease but how are we supposed to know we are exposed to something that you won t test??? Then she told me to speak to my doctors about it. Really? Ignorance.
This is a requirement for my University and the Providence VA has made it very difficult just to get checked.
Probably one of the better VA's in the nation. They offer services for veterans that other VA's do not come close to providing.
I can't explain the poor reviews of others who have submited. Emergency visits, surgery stays, and routine checkups have been (without fail) professional and courteous. Add in a generous portion of "Thank you for serving" from the staff.
I always received great treatment from everyone in the Providence V.A. I always tell my friends about coming here. or any veterans in the area.i happen to see
Just called to inquire about the last time I had a hearing test and the person who took my call was very rude. He would not let me know when the last test was an only suggested to come in for an adjustment. I asked him again and and he finally told me. It sounded as if I was bothering him.
My husband is there know and he was trying to get off suboxone himself but couldn't so we thought VA would help him but nope .Some nurses are rude and DOCTORS.we have been together for over 40 years and i have never seen anything like this place.
Even the valet people are rude too
They work for not the other way around
This place sucks and they do a terrible job of who gets seen first by urgency of medical condition the nurses don't take you serious and they will not learn until somebody dies on their hands I hate to say. I'm very upset with my service and something needs to be done differently here ASAP !!!!!
I have received great treatment from everyone in the Providence VA, I recommend coming here to any veterans in the area.
They have been great to my uncle and have great staff!
It's a mixed bag here sometimes it's good sometimes it's bad. Sometimes they save your life. Can't complain too much when you don't have to pay for anything.
I have been going to the prov VA for over 20 yrs. True it was an old building but the renovations. And new extensions that have been added are great . The people who work there. Are top of the line. All in my experience have been. Wonderful ..from the valets to the administrators ..like I said I've seen big change all for the betterment of serving our states veterans of which I am proud to be ..some folks put the place down. Well no one is forcing you to go there .there are many other options in this small state ..I love the care I get from the VA. And quite frankly if not for thier professional and up to date care of me. .I would not be here today ..help is there for all vets you need just ask and they will do everything in thier power to help you ...thank you priv VA. Keep up the great work. I and many. RI vets are very proud of our hospital and staff
This is the best place for medical care for veterans. It's a fairly old building complex that has been modernized. There's a lot of walking involved but during the day there are volunteers who will transport you via wheelchair if you need it. The staff is amazing! Very helpful and professional.
So far I ve received excellent care from everyone at this facility. Nothing makes you feel more comfortable than being treated by folks who truly want to help veterans.
Always a pleasant experience. The staff is phenomenal and very caring
Went for CT chest. Each staff member I had contact with was pleasant and helpful. Only my 2nd visit there.
That emergency room is the worst I've ever seen. My husband was there last night and the doctor was ignorant and rude. From behind the curtains the doctor was compalining to the nurses about why my husband came in at 2 am in the morning. BECAUSE HE WAS IN PAIN AND NEEDED HELP??????? and.........what difference does it make what time he came in? DO YOUR JOB and stop complaining. My husband became so disgusted with the way he was being talked about behind his back and how he was treated that he left. He said they made him feel like, "he was bothering them." If you value your loved ones life and safety and want them to get the respect they deserve DO NOT send them to the PROVIDENCE VA EMERGENCY .ROOM!
It has every kind of doctors you can think of. Their very hospitable and caring. I think that their more concerned about me than i am.lol
This place is AWFUL. Not only is it a NEVER ending game to even TRY to make an appointment, but if you go into the emergency room they will let you sit in a room for HOURS without checking on you, or even to see a doctor!!! The staff just sat outside the curtain talking about how much they hate their jobs and when you ask a simple question They are rude and condescending. Such awful service for being a medical center for our veterans. I am more than discusted with this service, and how the staff seem to care about only their paycheck. Disgusting.
My grandpa called yesterday to schedule an appointment and they still haven t gotten back to him!!!
I have always received caring , quality service at the VA. The seemingly endless haphazard parking situation however continues to make it a last choice option for me.
They take care of all veterans needs here. If your a veteran get down to the VA medical center as soon as possible.
The quality of care received here is by far the best around. From doctors, nurses, technicians, and cleaning staff the professionalism and care and respect shown supersedes that of many "big named" hospitals.
We veterans are fortunate to have this facility located here.
Awful experience. Sat in ER for over 5 hours with many other veterans. Many of us had no answers. As with anyone who sits for hours without answers or acknowledgement we began asking questions, only to be disrespected by the gentleman at check in. He was rude and spoke to us as if we were children. He is the perfect example of someone you do not hire. He lacks professionalism and compassion. This gentleman has no business working with veterans. He has no business working with people in general.
Literally the worst facility I have ever been to. The staff is great but the facility itself is horrible. There is never any parking, the building is the perfect scene for a horror film, the lay out of the building is terrible, one appointment youre inside the building, the next appointment youre somewhere outside in a trailer. And did I mention the parking situation is a nightmare.
It's a great place. It's a great place for veterans.
Good Quality People that care for the Veterans that service in the armed forces.
Every experience is the greatest because they treat me so well!!
Most of the staff are great but lately we have been dealing with unprofessionals... Today my husband's appointment was at 1 but they didn't take him in until almost 2 and he can't drive so we have to miss our daughter's game. No staff was even seen until about 1:45 not even the receptionist so I already rearranged my schedule so I could take my husband to his appointment and make my daughter's game who is special needs... Now I'm not making it to her game and I pray the coach waits with her until I can get there!
great facility! staff was top notch! Doctor was awesome!
Sweetest volunteer staff in the country-Always open to helping us to help our vets feel valued .
Love the doctors and nurses. They take extreme care of my elderly father
After changing my primary care Dr, I really enjoy coming to this hospital. It offers many support groups for "Us" veterans, and they have helped me.
Overall I would rate this VA center a 5. Everything outside my doctor works out great. But seeing that I go to this center for medical reason I rate it at its lowest. I've been assigned a doctor that was giving me horrible medical advice. He went above and beyond to show me that my health and welfare was not important. I asked twice if can switch doctors because I have medical concerns that leave me in constant pain, to which my doctor did not attend to. I was denied by the hospital, and they want to force me to see a doctor that i don't think is mentally unfit to wear the white coat.
Awful place with no customer service. They are condescending and rude. Very unorganized from the parking lot to the staff. Go to Boston if you can help it.
They are caring ...and knowledgeabileglad to have them
I absolutely adore my doctors here. They've saved my life many times over. Mental health is top notch. My doctors are always a phone call away and I can get appointments with ease. I've never felt more supported by my doctors than I do here. From the women's clinic to the er and surgical I've pretty much seen them all and God bless you guys for being so awesome to us veterans.
Professional, kind, caring, best of the best, especially my PCP, Dr Emily Leveen, Steve in Pulmonary scheduling, and Sean Lonergan over at HPACT in trlr 37, housing. 5 star all the way.
I come to this VA several times per week. The staff is excellent and cares for you. I have been coming here for over 15 years. The only complaints I have is the inpatient food, I tell them I dont eat or drink something but I get it anyway. They did away with cable tv and replaced it with horrible over the air channels. But I am not picking at this point. All the doctors and nurses are the best in the business. If they dont have one they get you one on the outside.
The case workers here are a joke. They do not do anything but go shopping on their lunch break. These people don't care about veterans. The case workers make almost 80 k per year and do nothing.
Typical big government org. that cares little for the patient and more with getting bigger. I think that vets would be better served by getting rid of the VA and replace with private practice!
Shane was the best! Very professional and he answered all my questions.
I cannot say enough good about the Providence VA Medical Center and the Audiology Clinic. I had to work so hard to get my dad, a former Navy Seabee, into the system after he had been denied benefits all his life, only to find out that he was repeatedly denied eligibility over the years because his discharge papers from back in the fifties showed his birth year as being one year off from what it actually was. Once we got through the admin brick wall (which I bet is now better than it was two years ago) and got that corrected with the help of the director, Kasim Yarn, and David DosReis at the office in Warwick, it was success, compassion, and precious help at every turn. The staff and my dad's primary, Dr. Lidia Vognar, are always professional, thorough, kind, and caring. It was worth the hard fight to break through. Be persistent -- if you are a veteran, this country knows you've been through a whole lot worse.
