Our new favourite breakfast locale, delicious food, friendly staff with an incredible view
Excellent homemade style breakfasts here. I will be coming back more often!!!
Breakfast, brunch and lunch, great Canadian food! Tried the bison pot pie, was so filling!! Love the homey atmosphere, and great service!
Great atmosphere, amazing food, modest pricing, and personable staff. Thank you!
I got drunk here. The staff helped me outside to my car many times. I love Beers here!!
Nice atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff, great food. Almost like having lunch in a cafe in Europe. A bit pricey for lunch
Great food and great service for moderate prices. The manager cares alotabout his business and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place. Menu in French and English. Been here for breakfast lunch, and dinner and each one has been great.
Meh, not really sure what the fuss is about. Came for the first time during lunch and we were not impressed. To sum it up, food presented great, but when you get down to it was flavorless. Soup (broc. & cheddar) was very bland. Beef sandwich, same comments. Fries were the best part. Service was also lackluster. Sure our server was pleasant but just did not do a good job. Our water glasses sat empty more than once, my coffee was empty, never topped up. Food took much longer than average to arrive and no we were not in any rush. After finishing our meals our empty plates sat in front of us for nearly 10 minutes with no visit from our server. So like I said, meh........we won't be returning to this establishment.
Great for breakfast or dinner. Some of the best mussels and fries anywhere, usually with sauce made from 'whatever is in the kitchen right now'. Awesome.
Lovely French bistro. Had a beef dip sandwich that tasted very good. Quaint atmosphere.
Great place. Just had coffee were good with refills.
Great dining experience in St. Boniface. Have always had a good meal whether lunch or dinner. Great wine selection too.
Atmosphere was good, service excellent, friendly but our meals were over cooked and portions quite small
Incredible breakfasts, maybe the best in the City. Coffee to die for, fresh and unique locally sourced fresh ingredients masterfully combined and prepared. Equally as pleased with lunch and diner. World-classed food at a budget price served in a wonderful atmosphere with a view of Pont Provencher/Esplanade Riel and the Human Rights Museum; a truly unique dining experience.
Went for a couples/friends evening out. Service was great. Bison burger was good, but a little over cooked. Beef bourgeoisie was fatty. Chefs special was a pork tenderloin, was good. Coffee nice and strong. Atmosphere was casual and relaxing. Great view of the river.
Took a group of 10 for breakfast. Everyone raved about the meal and great service. We will be going back!
A slice cake in a slice of France right by downtown Winnipeg is one way you could describe this cafe. That would not do it justice however for the food here is far more than just cake.
If you are in the area please do yourself and your taste buds a favour and visit this lovely eatery.
We hosted our 2019 Office Holiday Party at Cafe Promenade, and glad to say everyone really enjoyed. The staff was excellent and accommodating, the pre planning of the event was very thorough, and they were very well equipped to deal with our last minute requests and changes. The food was great, and the ambiance was lovely. They set the tone and got the mood right for our event. Thanks again!
Lovely view from the patio and great wait staff. Their house wine is expertly curated. Definitely recommend.
Very good food, service and ambience. Great place for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Good food. Attentive server. We will definitely go back.
Had a wonderful 31st anniversary dinner with my wife!
Thevservice was ok..the food passable..lacked seasoning in the soup..quiche was ok
Not highly recommended
..just very average and not inexpensive for lunch
The food was amazing. Good price. The buggetes and wine fantastic
Need a reservation for any size group but a fabulous and shockingly inexpensive experience.
Very neat lil restaurant at the foot of the bridge - terrific views for inside by the way.
Food was really good. Needs a little more vegatarian food and appitizer. The waitress " really liked" everything on the menu and didn't really give a good opinion on the wine.
Always great food and drinks, excellent wine selection, amazing deserts, dozens of specials everyday.
Vegan breakfast was absolutely delicious!!!
Thanks to the amazing server Andre for his recommendations
Went in with my daughter. The fries were so hard and crunchy, overdone, like they were scraped out of the bottom of the deep fryer. The bison burger tasteless. Actually happy I spent $2 for the Bothwell cheese they put on it. That and ketchup were the only things with flavor. I know a lot of people like the place, and that's all good. To me, a waste of money for one of the crappiest meals I've had in a long time.
Great brunch options. I went twice in a month and one of the few places that is sti serving creme brule.
We only stopped in for a quick coffee but couldn't resist the incredible desserts. A short walk across the bridge from The Forks or just around the corner from the St. Boniface Cathedral.
Amazing food and service! Ordered the burger du bison with added blue cheese and bacon, and the soup for the side. Very messy, but very delicious (a staple sign of a good burger lol)
I have been here many times for breakfast. It's always fast, nice and the food is good. Prices are good as well.
We stop by here every time we're in Winnipeg. Great view, great staff, wonderful food, lovely decorations and ambiance.
Enjoyed the meal very much! Great atmosphere & food!
Eggs, potatoes and Montreal Smoked Beef dish, as well as French toast dish! Super satisfying! Excellent service!
3 1/2 star - Hit and miss with quality of food/dessert. Dessert pricey vs portion
Nicest service ever. Cozy and quiet, amazing tea selection. Super relaxed but still nice.
Service was actually very good. Had the beef bourguignon, beef was way too fatty and a little chewy. Poor quality beef. But otherwise pretty tasty. Didn't eat all the beef.
Food was good but a few dishes were dry...the coq au vin was presented well but overcooked. I liked the trout.. dessert was good ..service was good and the pricing was good ...will go back
Unfortunately this place has changed a lot since the time I was a regular here for my weekend breakfasts.
My last time I came here for a lunch in February. I was looking to have a soup as I was feeling a little bit under the weather. Before sitting I asked two staff members if there are any soup options. They checked and said yes and gave me the two potions. Since I found what I sat down. About 10 min later after waitress took my order I got another waitress coming to me and letting me know that they don t serve soups on Sundays. That was disappointing, as I was already expecting one. I ve browsed menu once again, trying to find something else that wouldn t make me sick (allergies and troubled stomach limit my choice). I found another meal and ordered it to find out they out of ingredients for that one ... At that moment I felt like it s easier to ask what they actually carry at the moment from the whole 3 page menu. I was already 20 min in and nowhere close to eating so I settled with another option that I wasn t too excited about, at this point I was just looking to eat anything so I m not late to my meeting.
I ordered meal and a hot tea (I specified as there was a cold option too). My meal came with a room temperature rooibos tea, completely not brewed. I asked waitress for a hot tea. She brought back tea pot with exactly same temperature. Had to leave that untouched. Food was fine, however made me sick (peppers make me sick and that wasn t mentioned that it was part of the ingredients). At the checkout I mentioned my cold tea and they were kind enough to make a hot one for to go. Which was nice, but definitely didn t recover this experience.
Great taste of wine. Beautiful place. I liked the dessert it was delicious.
Not a good breakfast experience here. The coffee is definitely watered down, and the food was rubbery and very under-cooked. Food arrived tepid (not hot). Food was bland and tasteless (terrible tasting breakfast sausage and very under-cooked bacon). Not sure why all the great reviews here. But, I will never, ever return here ever again.
This is one of my go to places in Winnipeg for all of occasions and all meals. Whether it is bison sausage at breakfast, tortiere for lunch , or fine prairie inspired dining for supper, Cafe Promenade never disappoints. And always make room for the desserts- as you walk in, you can t miss them and will be glad you ordered! It is also the most reliable restaurant for my out of town guests- and great service !
Breakfast is nice! The food is a bit nore on the pricey side but it is a bit more of an upper class restaurant. Service is a bit slow last time I went, wasn't really busy either. It is nice coming here with the boyfriend!
Food was great and our server was awesome! I unfortunately do not remember her name but I know she was Romanian. And the reason why I know that was because another server came up to us and said "sorry I don't mean to bother you guys...but we have another reservation for this table." We told her we were waiting for the bill and she asked us who our server was and that's how we found out she was Romanian, because she stormed off and our server came immediately afterwards.
I get it, the table was booked but what makes me angry is that the table we were at was reserved by me. Our reservation was at 10am...at 1040am we are basically being told to hurry up cause we need this table, this table specifically, not the other table that is right beside us that also sits specifically 2 people, this table and only this table.
Again our server was amazing! But who ever came up to us at the end and rushed us out really ruined the experience for myself and my wife. Again our reservation was at 10am January 25th 2020 if you would like to contact me, you have my information.
Came for burger week but the rest of the menu looked great too!
Awesome breakfast and loved our waitress french accent ... really had to listen to her but sweet girl
Fantastic food and excellent service. We will go again.
Great food that is skillfully prepared, one of the best places to order eggs benedict with house smoked salmon in the city.
Great food...wonderful service...highly recommend this GEM on the Red..... Will be our goto for Sunday brunch... Etc. ...
We four ladies had lunch...the food was great, good atmosphere and views of the downtown area. However an incoming client slipped on the floor and knocked coffee cups and water glasses flying. While this was an accident and nobody was to blame, the staff could have been more attentive in bringing cloths, etc to wipe up the mess. A couple of the ladies were dowsed by the flying liquids and there was no apology or concern expressed.
I have gone there on three separate occasions. The first was for breakfast but because it was 12 o clock, we were too late for that fair enough. The next time we went was at 2:15. The door was still unlocked and the Open sign still on we were informed they close at 2. The last time I went was for an advertised Sunday brunch as seen on a sign on the restaurant. When inquiring about the special, they informed us that it s a fake sign to bring people in . I will not be going back there....ever.
Great quiche and coffee. The interior is really nice with reclaimed wood tables.
Great service! Great food, great drinks, great view of the beautiful scenery outside, overall my guest and I were very pleased with our experience thank you Promenade
The mashed potatoes are delicious and spot on. The Boeuf Bourguinon has a hint of Guinness which I really like. However I am pretty disappointed with the Bison Tourtiere as I find it extremely dry for a pot pie. There is no moisture in the filling. All I am getting is a mouthful of well seasoned rubber bullets.
Our group of four recently ate dinner at this restaurant. The service was very good, the wine was lovely, and the food was delicious. Although the prices are somewhat high for a fairly casual atmosphere, we did enjoy the meal. It was easy for us out-of-towners to locate and there was free parking. We have been here quite a few times. Atmosphere is very good, so is service and food. On Sundays you can have breakfast until noon, then it is lunch only. Tried different dishes, all excellent.
It was a very quaint restaurant for lunch for a Sunday afternoon. Loved the atmosphere and loxation.
Went there this morning stood at the front for 15 minutes before someone acknowledged us. When the girl brought us to our table she was very rushed and basically ran us to the table and ran away. Asked for sunny side up and got over easy eggs.
Delicious food but service was slow and we weren't even acknowledged for for a while when we entireed, despite staff working behind the counter right in front of the door.
The restaurant website states that all food is made in house. When I asked the waitress about the gnocchi, she stated that it is not made fresh in house and is frozen. We had the mussels - absolutely amazing and the highlight of our meal. We also had fries, which were overcooked. Overall, the meal was okay.
A great place, great location. Staff are very friendly & kind. Probably one of the best local places in the city to meet a friend for coffee
Great mussels! Great fresh bread to soak up the sauce is a must. I usually start with Dessert and coffee
A brief drop in for lunch turned into a true gastronomic treat. Try the Bison tortierre. The included salad was a delightful blend with a hint of sweetness.
Good indoor and outdoor seating, tasty food, kind staff.. highly recommend it for breakfast.
I don't normally go out of my way to post reviews but tried this place on Saturday for the first time and was very impressed! We initially came for le burger week but decided to try some other things to. We came when it was very busy and we even though we didn't have a reservation they squeezed us in. The lady who greeted us at the door was very friendly and welcoming. Our waiter was awesome. He was funny, efficient, and real and we had a kick out of hearing him entertaining some senior ladies in a big group. There was lots of laughs. He was caught up for a bit with this table but the other waitress from the door was always around and checking on us. The staff here seem to really like their job and create a welcoming place to sit and eat. Now the food.... Delicious! Doesn't need any salt or anything else. We are glad that Burger week brought us in to try this cozy little spot. Keep doing what you are doing.
First time there was for my daughters birthday. Wonderful all ways
5:45 PM Saturday had no line up but the we needed a reservation. Be there 10 times and never had a issue to get a table or to wait for one. Must have been a large group with the reservation. To popular now for walk in's. Makes it tough for families on a tight schedule. Great place for retired people and people who have time. I'm honestly not the type of person who likes making reservations. Will miss the good food they have to offer.
Best breakfast ever. The coffee was perfect. Our meal was tasty and good. Service was perfect! We'll come back!! Love it!
What a fantastic breakfast with exceptional & friendly service. Will definitely be back with friends and family to try lunch and dinner meals. A gem of a restaurant.
French restaurant just across the river from the Human Rights museum. Great eggs Benedict- especially loved the ham. Excellent croissants and crepes as well. Highly recommend for breakfast.
Delicious! A wonderful place for brunch with a true Winnipeg view!
Please keep doing what you did, as you guys are doing a great job!
Good food, friendly service, a little slow but they were busy.
Wonderful atmosphere, great views of the river, the forks, and CHRM. Went for breakfast and was not disappointed. French toast was average, but their made in house compote was wonderful made up for the less than stellar toast. They make their own sausages in house and I would highly recommend. A little bit of a pain to get to right now because of some roadwork that prevents you from getting in from Provencher. Can't hold that against them though.
