Proclaim Justice: Fighting for the Wrongfully Convicted
Proclaim Justice is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to fighting for the rights of those who have been wrongfully convicted. The organization was founded in 2016 by Jason Baldwin, one of the West Memphis Three, who spent 18 years in prison for a crime he did not commit.
The mission of Proclaim Justice is to provide legal and investigative support to individuals who have been wrongly convicted and are seeking exoneration. The organization works tirelessly to uncover new evidence, re-investigate cases, and advocate for justice on behalf of those who have been failed by the criminal justice system.
There is no way to do the work we do without the support of the private sector. The government has closed the books on these crimes and it is up to us to fund and operate the re-investigation. We rely on volunteers and donations to continue the fight.
Proclaim Justice believes that every person deserves a fair trial, regardless of their race or socioeconomic status. Unfortunately, this is not always what happens in our criminal justice system. Innocent people are often convicted based on faulty evidence or coerced confessions, while real perpetrators go free.
The work that Proclaim Justice does is crucial because it gives hope to those who have lost everything due to wrongful conviction. By providing legal assistance and investigative services free-of-charge, Proclaim Justice helps level out an uneven playing field where many innocent people are left without any recourse.
One example of Proclaim Justice's success story involves Rodney Reed from Texas - he was sentenced with death penalty but after years-long efforts by his family members as well as organizations like Proclaim justice - his execution was stayed indefinitely by Texas Court Of Criminal Appeals in November 2019 citing new evidences which were ignored during his trial back in 1998.
Proclaim Justice has also worked with other high-profile cases such as Julius Jones from Oklahoma, who was sentenced to death for a murder he did not commit. The organization has been instrumental in bringing attention to his case and advocating for his release.
The organization is made up of a team of experienced lawyers, investigators, and volunteers who are passionate about fighting for justice. They work tirelessly to uncover new evidence, re-investigate cases, and advocate on behalf of those who have been wrongfully convicted.
Proclaim Justice relies heavily on donations from individuals and corporations to fund their operations. Every dollar donated goes directly towards supporting the legal and investigative work that they do. The organization also relies on volunteers who donate their time and expertise to help with research, fundraising, and advocacy efforts.
In conclusion, Proclaim Justice is an essential non-profit organization that fights tirelessly for the rights of those who have been wrongfully convicted. Their mission is noble - providing legal assistance free-of-charge - which helps level out an uneven playing field where many innocent people are left without any recourse. With your support through donations or volunteering your time & expertise - we can help them continue this important work!
