Plastic and Polystyrene
I was incredibly surprised to find a ridiculous amount of plastic and polystyrene used to package my water feature. I'm pleased to say that the product arrived unscathed but I cannot say the same for the earth with how environmentally irresponsible the packaging was. Firstly, there were huge polystyrene pieces, which I haven't seen from any other company, let alone a garden centre which should appreciate nature not harm it, in 10 years. This could easily be replaced by corregated cardboard (e.g. ikea) or molded cardboard which is stronger and recycleable.
Secondly, plastic bottles and plastic bags were wrapped in plastic. Though I understand the need for plastic bottles to move and store liquid I am unsure why these also need to be wrapped in plastic. And there is no reason that the decorative stones could not be stored in a small cardboard box.
It is a real shame that I will not be able to use Primrose again because the product itself is fantastic, but until these fundamental issues are addressed I will be advocating for avoiding.
