Portland Radio Project is a non-profit, independent radio station that is closely tuned in to PDX. We are on the dial at 99.1 FM in the heart of Portland, and streaming worldwide 24/7. Our mission is to provide a platform for local musicians, artists, and community members to share their stories and talents with a global audience.
At Portland Radio Project, we believe that music has the power to connect people from all walks of life. That's why we feature an eclectic mix of genres ranging from indie rock to blues, jazz, folk, hip hop, electronic dance music (EDM), world music and more. Our DJs are passionate about discovering new artists and sharing their favorite tracks with our listeners.
But we're not just about playing great music - we're also committed to building a strong sense of community both on-air and off-air. We host regular events such as concerts, fundraisers, workshops and meetups where listeners can connect with each other as well as with our DJs.
One of our most popular programs is "Sounds of PDX", which airs every Tuesday at 7 pm PST. This show features interviews with local musicians who share their stories about how they got started in the industry as well as live performances in our studio.
Another program that has gained a loyal following is "The Bus Stop", which airs every Friday at 3 pm PST. This show features an eclectic mix of genres ranging from punk rock to reggae along with interviews with local bands who perform live in our studio bus parked outside our station.
In addition to these programs, we also feature specialty shows such as "The Mixtape" which showcases different themes each week such as love songs or protest songs; "The Retro Cocktail Hour" which takes listeners back in time with vintage lounge tunes; "Jazz Lives" which explores the history of jazz through rare recordings; among others.
