We had a few different venues at the top our list for our wedding, but as soon as we toured The Armory we knew we didn t need to look any further! The space itself is stunning - the perfect mix of vintage and modern industrial - and then on top of that we had a great experience working the venue coordinator, Elizabeth. She was very organized, responsive, and always helpful. Between Elizabeth s professionalism and the gorgeous setting of the Armory we had the exact wedding that we wanted!

The venue-both inside the theaters and outside in the LEED-certified lobby-is GORGEOUS. I love that you can go early and have some food upstairs or some cocktails pre-show. The staff clearly believes in their mission because it shows in their friendly, efficient service. Every time I'm there-whether seeing a show downstairs in the black box theater, watching a big-spectacle show, or even watching a film screening, I'm always entertained and happy I went. Good on you, PCS!! Keep it up.

I love attending live theatre, but the price of good season tickets is still just a little too much of a splurge for my budget. Enter PCS. Not only do they have reasonably-priced individual tickets, but also a variety of combination tickets to suit anyone. I wasn t totally sure on which seats the various offers would let me get, and so I emailed customer service. I quickly received an message back that explained the very generous ticketing policy. I was able to take advantage of the Armory Card for those aged 35 and under for 5 shows at $25 each. I thought with this offer I d be sitting in the nosebleeds, but I actually got to pick my seat, whether that was in the Orchestra or Mezzanine, first row or back. I am looking forward to a season at the beautiful Armory. Thank you PCS for making quality theatre accessible!

We saw The Color Purple. It was one of the best plays!!!!!!!!!! From the stage to the orchestra, to the cast to the costumes. Truly the best acting/voices ever. These actors/actresses are so very talented. Tears, frog in the throat and heart racing talent! Would see it 100 times over. Loved Squeak and Mister! Celie....no words to describe her talent!

Mom and I had a great time here, spent way too much money on drinks. The place has a nice energy to get a drink before the show, and all the seats seem to have a good view. Can't wait for the next show.

It is wonderful to see an old building get a second life. And having a new theater space has brought new life into the availability of plays that Portland would have otherwise not have had presented.

About Portland center stage

Portland Center Stage at The Armory is a non-profit theater company located in Portland, Oregon. The company was founded in 1988 and has since become one of the most respected and innovative theater companies in the Pacific Northwest. Portland Center Stage at The Armory inspires our community by bringing stories to life in unexpected ways.

The Armory is a historic building that was originally constructed as a National Guard armory in 1891. In 2006, after extensive renovations, it became the home of Portland Center Stage. Today, The Armory is not only a beautiful and historic venue but also an important cultural hub for the city of Portland.

Portland Center Stage produces a wide range of plays each season, from classic works to contemporary pieces. They are committed to presenting diverse voices and perspectives on stage, with an emphasis on new works by emerging playwrights.

One of the unique aspects of Portland Center Stage's programming is their commitment to immersive theater experiences. These productions go beyond traditional staging and invite audiences into fully-realized worlds where they can interact with characters and explore environments.

In addition to producing plays, Portland Center Stage offers a variety of educational programs for students and adults alike. Their education department provides workshops, classes, and camps for aspiring actors as well as opportunities for teachers to integrate theater into their curriculum.

Portland Center Stage also prioritizes accessibility for all members of the community. They offer discounted tickets through their Arts For All program which makes live theater accessible to low-income individuals or families who might not otherwise be able to attend performances.

Overall, Portland Center Stage at The Armory is an essential part of the cultural landscape in Portland. Their commitment to producing innovative work while prioritizing accessibility makes them stand out among other regional theaters. If you're looking for thought-provoking entertainment that pushes boundaries while still being accessible to all members of your community then look no further than this incredible organization!
