It's finally getting better, I mean their employees are really nice and attentive and very polite not to mention always welcoming with a smile. Bad side, snow covered sidewalk and their parking slots.. i navigated over knee high snow to get my order....nonetheless it deserves my 5 Stars!!!!

Quite possibly the best grilled chicken place in Chicago. The prices are super reasonable. On Tuesdays they run a promotion, where you buy a whole chicken and get a half free.

I visit here once a week. Love the chicken! Great prices ! I'd give 5 stars but the service can be a little slow. Other then that this is a must try for some good Mexican food!

Literally the best chicken in Chicago. If people come to my neighborhood, I automatically try to take them to this place. You can only order chicken and sides but it's all you need. If you like food, just at all, go here at least once. BYOB, family friendly, pleasant wait staff and literally some of the best chicken I have ever had.

All the chickens are cooked over charcoal but my favorite is the adobo chicken, the molcajete sauce (Home Make) is also my favorite, the prices are good but better are the specials on Tuesday and Thursday, every order brings beans (charros or refried) , Mexican rice, and sauces (molcajete and raw)

The lady who charges is very despotic or not at all kind to the customers, not the employees, I think she is a wife of the 2 owners who have this place.
When you call to place an order, they say 30 minutes, someone comes to pick it up and you still have to wait 30 more minutes because they don't have it ready yet.
Because they do not have delivery and I have seen very few times that they do but it has to be that one lives 2 blocks around.
And that they have already opened a few years ago and are still just as lousy in waiting for food.
Very good cleaning, very friendly employees, parking if you are very lucky you will find it but usually not because there are many places, since it is a very busy street.

Pollo express is the best grilled chicken in town. Well or medium cook. Fast and easy food to carry out. Affordable price. Chicken w/fried beans & cooked rice plus tortillas and salsa. Delicious!

I've been wanting to try the distinctly red, Chicken Adobado at Pollo Express for the last few months. The reviews looked promising, so mom and I finally drove down from the Irving Park neighborhood and arrived at the post lunch hour, 2pm.

We ordered the whole chicken adobado with rice, refried beans, corn tortillas, a roasted jalapeno, and two salsas. The portions were ample, the chicken was tender and quite tasty, plus, the refried beans was spot on. I have my own recipe for Pollo Adobado and make it often on my charcoal fired Big Green Egg. The Adobo chicken at Pollo Express was perfectly cooked, nicely seasoned and perfectly salted, but not juicy....this was probably due to the fact that our batch was made at around 11 am for the lunch crowd, which meant that ours sat around for 2-3 hours...no biggie. Again the beans were spot on, the rice was pretty good, the tortillas were super fresh, albeit, not handmade. We enjoyed everything but the salsas, as they lacked character. We also felt that both the chicken and rice needed just a little more zing.

Lastly, we were super impressed with the all female staff and owner. They really take pride in what they do and keep the place clean and vibrant. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Oh, and one last suggestion; you should bill ahead of time or at the table. We were told to pay at the table when we placed our order, however, we waited around for a while waiting on our bill...only to be told later to pay at the register.

Love there food!! Always so flavorful, their beans are the best. I just wish the chicken was a little more meaty. Last few times the chickens were a bit slim.

Have never eaten in the restaurant, but my sister in law has used them for catering. Best Grilled Chicken Ever!!! I ll be using them for my events now, too!

You cannot beat this grilled chicken. It's perfectly seasoned, still moist, skin (which I'd usually discard) was crunchy and soo tasty. Well worth a visit!

Places like this is why I love the south side of Chicago. The menu is simple: grilled chicken, rice and beans. And with the char coal grill you can't go wrong. The prices are very affordable. You can feed a big family cheaper than if you were to buy everything yourself and cook it at home!! Enjoy!!

Best chicken, hands down. I had to take a detour to reach this place, but it is so worth it.
Try not to miss when in Chicago. Take out option is great too, if you're looking for ambience.

The specials on Tuesday and Thursdays are a really great value. The food portions relative to the price you pay is great. The service is great, but the Cash Only policy could be a slight issue for some.

This place has really good chicken! I got rice and frijoles charros. The only bad thing is that they only take cash and the hot sauce was not so fresh nor was it spicy. It was like having a blended vegetable sauce. But they get 4 stars only because their chicken is delicious. My only comment is to make real authentic Mexican HOT salsas. But good food overall.

Very speedy service, the meat is cooked right up front. It s costly but worth it you can feed 3 people with the combo, but you have to ask for appliance they don t provide. Mostly Spanish speaking but one Lady who can translate. A good Mexican spot for sure.

I love pollo express, I dream about this chicken. I only wish they would make more of the pickled red onions because they tend to run out quickly.

Very clean place. Great food! Chicken was perfectly moist me delicious.

The seasoning on the chicken was perfect, as well as being extremely tender and juicy. The sides were also great and didn't detract the star here, which is of course the chicken.
That being said the new location is still a little rough around the edges( cash only, very minimal atmosphere, and sparsely decorated) . Those however are minor trifles when judged alongside the fantastic cooking and very friendly staff.

The best grill chicken i have ever had. Each piece of chicken is seasoned and tender, the beans, rice and the salsas that go with it is delicious as well.

Pollo Express is by far the best food a person can find in Pilsen. We go there at least once a week! Their chicken is amazing, and that along with the pickled onions, refried beans, rice, and complimentary tortillas make a great meal. It's also very inexpensive and the people who work there are professional, amiable, and quick. It is the kind of place where you get your food and go, however I very often see large groups of police officers eating inside. I can't say enough wonderful things about this place!

Long wait if you walk in on certain days. Excellent food!
